Tanguy Ndombele has joined Napoli on loan for the 2022/23 season, with an option to make the move permanent.

The midfielder joined us from Olympique Lyonnais in July, 2019. He featured 18 times in all competitions last season, taking his tally to 91 appearances and 10 goals in all competitions.

Tanguy returned to France and Lyon on loan for the second half of the 2021/22 campaign, where he played 15 times, scoring once.

Where’s the we wish him all the best blah blah??
Looks like the club uses a standard template to announce loan exit deals and recent ones for Lo Celso and Gil had a similar format and tone.

Can see him ripping up the slower paced Italian league. Players like him just cannot adjust to the physicality and intensity of the PL. Best of luck to him and hopefully we never repeat a mistake of its kind

Let's hope Tanguy smashes it there - so we can finally offload his contract. His contract does not expire till 2025!

Fabio must have called in a lot of favours to get this one done. Getting Napoli to take Tanguy for a whole season is a fantastic bit of business, hope they have a great season in Serie A and a good run in CL (not at our expense) and maybe we can actually sell Tanguy to someone if he performs well.

No favours needed. In the right league, we all know there is a player in there. very low risk for Napoli as loan fee is minimal with no obligation to buy.

What I like about this deal is the big club posture the club is adopting since Fabio's arrival. If the player doesn't fit then take it on the chin and look to move them on asap. In the past Levy's approach would have meant we held on to him, hoping he would turn a corner with the ultimate effect of blocking the squad position for someone else. Also loved the fact that we went out and secured the replacements BEFORE moving players on even though we knew it would weaken our negotiating hand from a financial perspective. Shows proper sporting ambition.

Like everyone else I hope he has a great season and they or someone else buys him but I think he's the preferable bad penny and will turn up next season.
