Think he meant that Liverpool said they wouldn't sell Suarez and didn't.

On what you said about us only missing two targets, I'm not sure the ITK is enough to go on to show that we missed out on either that you mention. I don't believe we were in for Benteke, or if we were, there was no formal bid. It was classic agent engineering a bumper pay rise. And whilst there may have been ITK all summer about a left back, there was nothing happening on that front all summer. Coentrao was only ever linked as part of some swap deal which was never going to happen.

The only signings we missed out on as far as I can tell are David Villa and Willian.

Only Willian I'd say. I doubt we were seriously in for Villa. I think we enquired and thought about it due to the low price, but he realised we weren't that keen hence the move to Madrid.

As for Benteke, I reckon we enquired, saw the price and thought "we can get Bobby Soldier for that" and walked away.

I see where you're coming from mate. Benteke is one of those players that will give defenders a hard time. But I also see what AVB is looking to build. A strong central midfield with creative wide midfielders that can feed the striker. So far we've been unable to get his preferred side out with Lamela and Eriksen only just having signed. Soldado is more of a finishing piece of the jigsaw kind of striker. Someone there who literally just scores. He wants his midfielders to create and his strikers to score.

Benteke would have been perfect had we kept Bale and only signed one or two players and we needed a striker that is going to do donkey work himself. Given we've signed a new front 6, I will reserve judgement on whether we did the right thing.

WTF? why would you issue new shares to finance the new stadium? What you are saying is that the main shareholders (Lewis and Levy) should fund the entire stadium. We wouldn't then accept not spending more money post stadium, so they would never get a return on their investment. Why would they make such a poor investment? they aren't stupid.

He is on the right lines, but not shares....Bonds

Arsenal.did it. Many U still do.

You issue 200mil of Bonds, 10 year, paying whatever per year.

AVB repeatedly said he didn't know what was going on.

No he specifically said that Bale had not shown up for training when he was told to and that he had passed his opinion on the matter to those above him and it was the clubs decision whether to fine Bale or not.

EDIT: I have been talking about Bale this whole time, were you talking about Benny?

.

This debt argument demonstrates that you know fuck all about Spain geopolitically or from a footballing point of view. The spanish public want a competitive Primera Division where there isn't an accumulation of all the wealth and talent that the country produces at two clubs. Whilst there is substantial debt burdens on a lot of Spanish clubs, the Spanish government, responding to public pressure government is currently drafting legislation to force all clubs to employ a collective bargaining agreement when negotiating with the LFP which will mean equal monies to all clubs.
Because of the impending legislation a lot of the clubs want to try and hold on for as long as possible in the hopes of retaining as much of their talent as possible until the legislation is implemented and are refusing to be ridden roughshod over by the cash rich, talent poor premier league.
That means you will have to pay release clauses and release causes do not reflect a players value or worth, they are mandatory in Spanish football contracts and are designed to be a deterrent if anything. If a club must have a player then they will have to pay through the nose unless the selling club actually wants to sell the player. Ronaldo for instance has a release fee of £970,000,000 and unless you're a complete moron you know that does not reflect his worth as a player.

3 things.

The equal money across clubs isn't in place yet.

The debt is still there, as are the countries perils.in general, posing a bleak outlook for gates.

Players in Spain are obligated to have a release clause, clubs can we for less at their discretion.

So, most of what you said above is bollocks.

What is the point at looking at Net Spend... If we had overpaid an extra 10 mill for 4 of the players, so that net spend was 40 mill would that make it a better window? Or if we sold Bale for 50 making net spend ~30... better then?

We got massively over the odds for Bale and reinvested.

Why concentrate on net spend aspect and not on the thing that actually makes a difference on the pitch.. like.. you know... the players....

Because certain posters on here just like to moan. It's the same posters in every thread moaning about net spend, AVB should be sacked, Rose and Chadli are shit. They're not happy unless they they're trying to bring everyone else down to their miserable level.

They probably like reading the Daily Mail over their breakfast so they can have a good rant at how shit everything is. No doubt posters from RAWK and Arsemania love coming in here and linking the diarrhea that these idiots splatter across the forum. They are a fucking embarrassment to this forum and our club.

Its a signal of intent and a reward to loyal support. As a club we have always looked to spend money on top players. We've fucked that up royally in the past, but at least they gave it a go that's all you can ask.

We may have overpaid for players we may turn out to have some absolute bargains, all that can be judged on merit, later on.

Arsenal have got the finished article with ozil we will sell ours when they get to that stage . Levy could not wait to get bale out the door.

Dude, we sold him for twice what he is worth.

And who gives a flying fuck about who Arsenal bought. Seriously if i hear one more spurs fan go on about it im gonna shit myself for the third time today. They have not strengthened in a single area where they need to. Have a look at our squad on paper, who we have for cover for most positions. You think they have the depth in squad to fight on 3 fronts..... league CL and a home cup - NO CHANCE. Do we. Hell yes. apart from our full backs and possibly LW we have a natural replacement for every position far outweighing what we had last year. Its not even hard to see.

It took AVB 3 games to get a win with a brand new team last year. 4 games for shit to properly start gelling and im pretty sure, by the 6th game we fucking beat Man U at Old Trafford.

This year he has another new team of, player for player more talent so hows about giving it a second before you start slating Levy for selling 1 player you liked. So take a second to think about this kind of negative nonsense that you have 0 basis for you and have a little fucking faith in the backroom team that just smashed our transfer record 3 times and have brought in some of the best young talent in the world and in our manager who got us 5th last year with a significantly worse overall squad than he has now.

there.

its out

and breathe

Surely the proof is in the pudding. I think we’d all agree that we would have had CL again had the Chairman invested and bought in a couple of January windows

The jury is out with this group we've invested in but if we fail to qualify for CL in the next 2-3 years questions will definitely be asked

It has to also be said that most of us thought we needed more quality at left back and a replacement for Ade, who needed to be shipped out after not being involved in any pre season whatsoever

Quite worried about the amount of them to be honest. I may start pretending to sit at the back of the classroom, going DEEEEEERRRRRRR, whenever someone is an idiot.

There are quite few I must admit. I think some of them stand behind the reporters on SSN on the last day of TW.

If qualifying for the CL every single season since the stadium was built is hampering then I want hampering.

I disagree. We brought in Holtby and he looked completely out of his depth. January signings are such a huge gamble.

We didn't miss out on the CL last year because we didn't buy, we missed out because Arsenal went on a title winning run after we beat them. Our record points total shows that.
