Neilton is out of contract in May and Tottenham were recently linked with scouting him. But Santos have a means to keep hold of him.

In November 2013 Tottenham Hotspur found themselves heavily linked with the signature of Santos forward Neilton - who had been dubbed the ‘new Neymar’ because of the pairs similarities in playing style and appearance.

Neilton, who also wears Neymar’s trademark number 11 jersey since the stars eye-watering £48.6 million move to Barcelona, was apparently watched by Spurs scouts who would likely have been impressed with what they saw.

Sevilla reportedly offered £600k for the player recently - but despite him playing just a handful of games for the club they are after a much bigger sum for the player.

However with the incoming arrivals of Eduardo Vargas, Bruno Uvini and Leandro Damiao - as well as an approach in the offing for former player Diego - the club must need to consider their financial position, as most of the Neymar funds have gone into securing the long-term future of the club.

With that in mind it was reported over the past month or so that Santos would be struggling to keep hold of the 19-year-old.

His current deal ends in May, meaning he is currently free to talk to any club on the continent, including Spurs, about a potential free transfer in the summer.

Says article:"Neilton - who had been dubbed the ‘new Neymar’ because of the pairs similarities in playing style and appearance."
Well, Ken McEvoy has similar appearance to Bale, but that has not made Real Madrid put in bids for him.

TBF Uvini not being a huge hit in the footballing world was a suprise. OK, I thought he needed time (a few years), but I really did rate him highly - one of the greatest CB talents in football.

If he was the 'new' Neymar no one would be offering 600k.
IMO any player tagged with 'the new (insert real player name)' moniker is essentially a dud, it's pure marketing spin from their agent.... annoys the hell out of me.

Not ready for EPL. I wouldn't mind getting him for free as he has potential to be a star player but now. He would be better off joining a league like la liga or portugal to gain european experience first.

Some brazillian footballers are like unicorns. You take them out of their natural environment and they start dying a little everyday, missing the forest and the sun.

They've also got the horn.
