New rules on Season Tickets?

Apologies if this is in the wrong forum or already posted.

My old mate from work and I went to every game for 2 years but he left for Australia a year ago. A mutual freind took over duties and paid for the other season ticket last year and the same deal continues this year. Both the tickets are in the name of my workmate (the first guy). We are in regular touch and it's really not a big deal.

Occasionally we can't go to games and take our friends/relatives - usually for no cost or at most for a pro-rata amount.

Apparently all of this is now being targetted - the name on the ticket must be that of the person going i.e. you cant have the same name on both tickets. For this reason we've still not received ours.

If you want to do what we were originally doing you have to get a corporate ticket and be charged a hefty whack. Great.

If you can't go to a game then you enter in the existing scheme which gives you a fraction (around half) of your pro-rata ticket value. A big con in my view.

But most importantly this means you can't take a non-regular to a game for an occasional treat. My friend always takes his mum on her birthday and I was looking forward to taking my girlfriend. It's what mates do for each other, no money every changes hands it's just a simple "can I swap the Wigan game for the Bolton game as it's my mum's birthday" etc.

My tuppence worth: this fucking stinks to high heaven. I'm not a tout and I have never made a penny out of Spurs quite the opposite (following spurs takes up the biggest chunk of my disposable income) - and now have to put up with this shit. £900 per year for this. I'm considering not renewing next year out of principle.

Virtually everyone loans their season ticket out to a mate at least once a season, it will be interesting to see how they police this. What are they going to do, ban everyone and eventually have a 58k stadium with no-one in it.

get your old mate to email the office and change one into your name and whoever - it is for reasons of safety and security that we are aware of who is in the stadium - should anything unfortunate happen and the seat is occupied by someone we believe to be joe bloggs and the services notify joe bloggs family etc, then they say thats not joe bloggs - we have an un named stiff on our hands etc etc

T&C for season tickets apply - non transferable

i am sorry you feel you wont renew next year but as you havent applied or renewed in your own name, you really have no recourse for complaint.

Rubbish, it`s so`s the club have more names on the database to email, sell stuff etc. Nothing to do with safety but as usual the perfect alibi.

Surely it'd be the same if it was an away fan or a non-season ticket holder who hadn't given a name when they bought their tickets?

with away fans, the visiting club would be aware of the id, a non st holder would be in the general sale blocks.

So let me get this straight...

If you've got a season ticket in someone else's name, you won't be able to go to the games next year unless it gets transferred in your name?

that's the size of it nick.

Robofan cheers for your advice i'm getting it sorted.

I still feel it's about money though just as most "health and safety" issues are. Everyone i've spoken to so far is mortified so you might want to pass that on. Thanks though.

oh god, here we go.......

Thanks for that.
I should`ve known better than to expect a sensible answer whenever somebody disputes your rose coloured spectacles view of our esteemed team. Considering our club has never been backward in coming forward for more money making opportunities you`ll have to excuse my sceptisism.
As you are an employee you can be forgiven for rigourisly defending everything `they` declare but i dont understand why you feel the need to.
Your answer makes it sound like i`m picking on you. This is only the second time i`ve questioned one of your posts. I was right about the first one and i think i`m right about this. No one is going to tell me that though, least of all you.
I`m not digging you out fella but if it looks like bullshit and smells like bullshit, guess what?

Ok lads.

Say if someone was to get an away ticket using someone elses details, with their permission of course. They would get away with this, right?

If they've done this for season tickets, then doesn't the same apply to non-season tickets? For example last season my mate booked a ticket for the Fulham game on my membership so he could take his dad while I was on holiday... But then in the last 3 seasons I can only remember having my membership card checked twice, so it's not something that seems to be being rigorously policed...

My father and I go together and sit together, we've between us barely missed a match in the last decade. However, occasionally for work or some other reason he might be unable to make it to a midweek game, while sometimes his boss in the centinary section invites my father when he has a seat free. When this happens, I usually bring a friend with me as most of my friends are not season ticket holders. I don't charge for it and there's no harm done to anybody. Does this mean I can no longer do it?

I think that the Club should worry less about the above senario and concentrate on cracking down on the (real) ticket touts that operate at every home game up and down the High Street.

That is a real pain in the ass!! I've just got my ST but am well aware that I won't be able to make every game so luckily I managed to book up next to 2 friends, behind another and in front of more. We were all aware that this would work well as if one of us couldn't go, we could simply sell it to the friend of someone who can.

Seems incredibly pointless to me, especially as you can sometimes buy tickets for games on the gate etc - how do they keep track of the names in those situations?

so how is it going to be policed?

Thats funny, i cant find an answer to this perfectly legitimate question.
Is it because they can`t? Not at least until we get the all singing all dancing new turnstile entrances, which wont be at this stadium.

In the 4/5 years I've been going as an ST holder, my membership card has never been checked once
