Reading SSC, I had not realised that the reason they have not started work on the terracing on bottom of the north stand, is the bases of 2 white cranes are positioned within the footprint of the stand. It seems an odd thing to do, but apparently that way later on, the pitch can be worked on simultaneously as the upper stands.
I think another consideration is that it means there will not be big blocks of concrete under the pitch area which might effect the drainage, even slope, should we return to a standard pitch in the future.

General hospitality
  • DL wants the entire stadium to be of a corporate hospitality level, the fit an be exceptional throughout

My general thoughts
  • I really like that they've put the fan experience first, be it with the south stand atrium, the free wifi they are putting in or the generous seat space.

These two things slightly concern me. Pampered fans can often mean quiet fans. Free wifi is a terrible idea if it is available during the match. I understand for like NFL all day events its pretty useful but as the game starts I want it turned off. Concentrate on the game guys!

Generous seat space normally means less steep tiers. It seems the club has concentrated on making the stands close to the pitch over steepness, but I think steepness is vital for a good atmosphere. Again comfortable seats could mean less standing less singing et al. Make em uncomfortable I say, I dont want the stadium filled with theater goers (I love the theater but a football game is not about that), I want active participation. For me the fans are their to support the players not to have a comfortable day out watching a performance as they munch on their expensive burgers and craft beer (I like both of those again, but not in a football stadium).

Generally, however, these are minor worries and it seems like the stadium will be exceptional.

All your points are valid along with many more and show why you cannot have an amazing atmosphere in these new builds unfortunately

The wifi switched off during the 90mins is a great idea. Would never happen but nice idea to try and help all the Jonny come lately newbies try to get into the game a little

I do hate the idea of 60k zombies on their phone during the match.
However, i often feel very cut off at games at the moment.

I suspect that most won't be glued to their phones, there's mobile internet already and people don't really use that.

Do you go to the lane much?
I swear they use signal jammers.
I think that the quantity of people slows it down. To be fair, now I think about it it is frustratingly slow. Sending snaps to my missus doesn't really work, much to her relief! A jammer would knock out the entire connection, but that's definitely not the case. I suspect it'd be hard to maintain stable wifi for 60,000 people as well!

The point about "signal jammers" is that it's nearly impossible to get a 3G or 4G signal in the stadium, or at least in the East Upper where I sit. I have to go downstairs and, even there, it usually won't work.

I heard from someone who is working on the new stadium project that we are planning an auction for items from the old stadium when it gets demolished. I don't know the person well, so take it with a large pinch of salt - but I thought it was worth passing on anyway.

I see that West Ham did something similar last year as well.

I've had to give the wife the White Hart Lane switchboard number for tomorrow incase she goes into labour during the game and I can't get a signal. If there's a stadium announcement, wish me luck.

I never used to be able to get signal, but this season has been ok. Maybe the big ol' hole has helped

Fucking jammy ****!
I paid £90 for southampton at home last season (last home game) but the wife was told she was having a c section on the Monday. She'd never have let me get away with going and she was 5 weeks away from the due date :ROFLMAO:
