Really don’t like how the south stand joins the east & west stands
I've always felt it's not ideal. Would be nice if the stands were designed to sort of 'sweep' into each other to make it appear seamless... But I guess that was either expensive, led to reduced capacity or poor sightlines, or they just didn't have time to do the necessary work (given the architects had to re-design the stadium build when the foundations were already going in! I guess the build schedule and different materials also contributed to the eventual outcome. I've made my peace with it, but I will always look at it and think 'that's the one thing they could have done better'.

That's the Park Lane for you, it's been different from the rest of the stadium for as long as I've been going to Spurs:

No posh types like up on the West Stand (though I'd wager on those glory glory nights that's where they would have loved to have been (we were having all the fun!). Ribald, rude, aggressive (crossed the line on occasions), atmospheric and loud.

Not as good a view of proceedings as up on the Shelf, right on the half-way line (best terrace view in London), slow-hand clap, moaners giving Mullery a load of stick for having the temerity to replace Danny Blanchflower.

The Paxton: preferred location for the floating supporter, no hassle, strictly for the family (you could take your nan there).

Nope. The Park Lane is/was always different - and long may it continue as slightly different from the rest of the stadium. And I say three cheers for that.

Does anyone have an idea why the middle of the pitch is raised (which can be seen at the bottom left of the picture)- have the trays for the retractable pitch already been installed?

There is a trench all around the pitch. There are 2 mud access ways for vehicles. One middle bottom and one in the middle of the west stand that are higher.

It's notable how much more steep the stands are. Hopefully will be beneficial to the atmosphere.

The upper tiers are steeper but the lower tiers where the atmosphere comes from do not look steep!
I’ve always thought so. The lower tiers look the same sort of rake as the old WHL to my un-tutored and amateur eye.

*My other eye is of course much superior. o_O

Also, while it might look raised, it’s just the angle. This gap between stand and pitch in front of the north stand is for the lamp and grass growing equipment, it’s a storage space essentially. It will most likely be covered over. This is what I understand from the plans on the previous pages
