Not conceivable to play any matches at Wembley next season - would be bad PR, take too long to sort ticketing with fan base up in arms and Levy promised in programme notes.

So if the stadium isn't ready and we don't get permission to start with enough away games (or there's simply a last minute delay), what's your solution? Milton Keynes?

Hey all, haven’t posted in a while but still lurking a fair amount. I’m in the fortunate position of being close to the club at the moment in some things related to the new stadium. From what’s been going on there the last few weeks it seems to be all systems go for next season. The pace of what’s happening right now wouldn’t be there if it wasn’t and there is an official date for a public facing milestone now set for mid June.

Apologies for being a bit criptic but don’t want to put too much out in public right now.

I’d guess that’s first demonstration of the pitch. Have to say there’s something very menacing and intimidating about the place already. The roof making it even more so. Just feels so compact.

Being meaning to ask this question for a while and apologies if it has been asked before.
Has our stadium been designed to increase capacity at a later stage, say to 80 000? I'm almost certain there would have been some consideration towards this looking at future growth. If so, any idea how this will be done? Was there any restrictions (bar financial) on us building the 80 000 capacity upfront?

Don’t think so and I think 62k was the biggest we could get due to the area. Transport links etc couldn’t handle more

Not unles a german version of safe standing is allowed. Although they might be able to fit in a few extra seats here and there.

It would be really hard to justify any club having an 80k stadium, who doesn't already, imo. All sports are cyclical and rely heavily on the attention span of the fans to keep them spending, which in turn keeps the investment in place. Contrary to how it appears, there's only a handful of clubs who are operating in the bottomless pit of money game but, for some reason, instead of everyone else evening it out the minority have been allowed to call the shots and it has created a pretty inaccurate view of finances for all clubs - many more clubs are living in debt, on credit that is only being offered because of the insane amounts being thrown around at the moment by companies like Sky & BT, which all goes to propping up this industry.

All it will take is for ticket prices to rise a few more quid while wages continue to stagnate and half the seats are now out of the regular fan's price range - imagine taking a family of four to the new stadium, getting half decent seats, travel, food, drinks, etc - it's a fucking fortune now and at some point it's too much, fans decide to stay at home or go to the local pub instead, seats are no longer being filled. Without bums on seats, clubs won't be able to draw the credit they previously could and they'll have to... raise prices.

If numbers drop enough advertisers and sponsors pull out, club income goes down further, now the only people making money are the broadcasters who are in it to make profit, not prop up football teams who have to find £100k+ a week for even mediocre players. It's a dangerous time to be a top flight football team - it'll be very interesting to see how big Chelsea go with their new stadium plans, but even more interesting to see what happens when one of the big money fat cats decides they're bored with their toy and that bottomless pit is suddenly not so bottomless.

Occurred to me this afternoon that if we were ever allowed to expand capacity the easiest way might be to dig down and then increase the rake (slope) of the lower tiers of the north, east and west sides. Obviously a bit of a nightmare to work out what to do with sliding pitch and NFL etc.

Can't see it ever being increased tbh

Transport links cannot support more than current capacity, would not get planning permission for any increase.

Cross rail 2 will be stopping a northumberland park in the next decade so transport would not be an issue.
There are plenty of other reasons why we wont increase capacity though at least in the forseable.

That is true but estimated completion for cross rail 2 is 2030 , I believe any talk of a larger stadium is irrelevant, it is not designed to be enlarged especially with the sliding pitch etc. and I don't think Haringey Council would grant planning for any further large increases to capacity .
