Is that what will actually happen or is it just your assumption?
Do you think the will play NFL games with the rails on the field?

Not sure I understand your real concern. The pitch rolls out on rails, those rails will be covered during an NFL game or concert, and then uncovered to roll out the grass pitch. The rest of the grass pitch sits well above the actual NFL field.

It's gone ten o'clock on Saturday night and I'm off to bed soon, meanwhile men are walking around on the roof of the stadium installing more cassettes, I reckon Lord Sugar is right and the roof will be done in two weeks.

I'm not sure you are telling us anything that wasn't known a year ago.
What I want to know is:

Will they stitch the turf in position over the rails? Every time?
Will they then brush all the various layers of infill materials, and compact it to the same level as the turf around it? Every time?
Or will there be trays of artificial turf that bolt over the rails? That is a lot of trays to move. Every time.
Or perhaps they'll just use the old style plain carpet artificial pitch? And refit it. Every time.

I don't think anyone is concerned here, as long as our grass is OK, but with just a few weeks to completion people are going to be curious about how they have overcome the problem.

Maybe they have worked it out on SSC - I'm months behind on my reading there.

I'll defer to the experts - I don't think they designed it to be too complicated. And they don't get this far, and say "Huh, how are we going to replace the fieldturf every time we move the grass pitch?"

My guess is that there is something that goes over the rail to provide a level surface, and then that portion(s) of the fieldturf is rolled on and off, with the remainder of the NFL field somewhat permanently in place.

The other thing to remember - the NFL turf will be used 2 times a year for games, and maybe another 6-8 times for other events. Even if they put an NFL team here - its just 10 games a year. In other words, nobody is going to be constantly shifting from grass to fieldturf every couple of days - but Levy is on record as wanting to host an NFL game and Spurs on the same day - so, the transformation is really done in a matter of hours.

Been speaking to a guy from Manchester last couple of days down my local he’s working on the stadium as a sparky.
He reckons the stadium will be the bollocks.
But he’s been bought in because the last lot didn’t do their job right and our stadium everything is got to be spot on he’s spending a lot of his time fixing fuck ups
He says everything has to be perfect unfortunately he can’t see it being ready before Christmas
But I dunno how much one sparky can know about when it will be ready so yeah pinch of salt
#Edit when I say fuck ups I mean it wasn’t done perfect he emphasised that everything needs to be perfect

I'm not at all concerned, I'm curious; and I understand completely how the retractable pitch works.

No shit.

I don't know how it works; that's why I was asking. Now we've established that you don't know either, and I'm none the wiser. Thanks.

No offence to the guy down the pub but he will know absolutely fuck all about anything apart from the bit he has to do.

I worked for the lighting company that won NWHL. It's an amazing stadium and there are still changes being made to make it even better. This will be a special stadium

The lighting sounds great except in regards to the away teams colours ? Wtf is that all about :(

It will involve massive flaps.

*sits back and stares at his watch* it's now a race to see who's fastest to the draw for a "your mum" joke, the tension is palpable - which one will they pick? A long shaggy dog story about how massive your mum's flaps are, that it takes mechanical equipment and half an hour to move your mum's flaps, or the trusty relic "just like your mum"? It's anyone's game!

It doesn't have to be completely finished for september. Just be able to hold a football match.

Has anybody moved into a fully finished house? It usually takes a few months after you've moved in to get it sorted. Doesn't mean you can't live there.

Don't worry about that... There is a plan with regards to that... It's quite clever

This sounds like you know something...

May I ask- if you do, are we likely to hear about it in the future? Because all of a sudden I'm intrigued about something I didn't care about a minute ago.

The only question I want to know is how difficult, how many steps do I have to climb to get to my seat in the North Stand, 514 row 4. Have been spoilt by the lovely escalators and the easy access of Club Wembley so it's a shame to have to revert to nineteenth century access

I've come to the conclusion that all of the speculation about when it will be finished adds to the excitement and should increase the amount of media coverage when it is finished. It's about maximising that for the benefit of the sponsors. Let's face it if all the noises that came out were "Yeah we're 3 or 4 weeks ahead of schedule" it wouldn't be exciting or interesting. Hence we're on schedule with discenting voices hinting the we're behind, it's building up to a crescendo, just like Ravel's Bollero! :cautious:
