I've come to the conclusion that all of the speculation about when it will be finished adds to the excitement and should increase the amount of media coverage when it is finished. It's about maximising that for the benefit of the sponsors. Let's face it if all the noises that came out were "Yeah we're 3 or 4 weeks ahead of schedule" it wouldn't be exciting or interesting. Hence we're on schedule with discenting voices hinting the we're behind, it's building up to a crescendo, just like Ravel's Bollero! :cautious:

Nice spin lol, if anything sponsors would be put off by any significant delay.

Just had a look on the live cameras and they have really cracked on in the last couple of days. there is a very noticable increase in the amount of roof that has been covered. At this rate Alan Sugar will be proved to have been right about the roof being finished in two weeks!

Well, hardly spin as I'm not involved with it at all, it's just my take. The point I'm trying to make is that IMHO I think it will actually be finished on time or as near as dammit. What would make that good for the sponsors is the discussion about the finishing date increasing interest in it and, therefore, publicity.

It’d be great if we have a run of home games in September. Hopefully off travelling for most of the season and leaving first week of October so would love to visit before I go. Hopefully with bigger capacity there be more supporter clubs tickets available.

This sounds like you know something...

May I ask- if you do, are we likely to hear about it in the future? Because all of a sudden I'm intrigued about something I didn't care about a minute ago.

No comment ... But it's clever

Going by previous precedent it won't work like that - if for instance we have four away games to start (two more than usual), we wouldn't immediately have four home games - rather, we'd have an extra two home games at different points in the season, possibly one at Christmas and one at Easter. As for tickets, it's always been pretty possible to get them if you're a One Hotspur member - you just have to make sure you're online just before they go on sale.

The first row will be below the pitch but the boards would be lower than the first row

If true its a good move, chelsea ignored the 8m guideline and I'm pretty sure that in our original plan, the pitch is 8m away from the stands in line with fifa guidelines. Of course this is a guideline and not a rule but almost everyone use to follow this guideline as they wanted to be a uefa 4 star stadium

That's what i thought I remembered as well (that's an age thing)...

The "welcome to our new home" brochure stated that the West / North / East stands front rows were 7.9 metres from the "pitch"; but that the South Stand front row would be 4.9 metres from the "pitch"; it also states elsewhere the same distances to the "touchline".

The image in the brochure looks "about right" for the original West & North dimensions - ( i had to crop it because of the file size).

My eyes are not good enough to estimate distances during the recent pitch roll out test :-(

Even in the mock up you have someone watching the game on their phone :(

No offence to the guy down the pub but he will know absolutely fuck all about anything apart from the bit he has to do.
It’s like that Harry Enfield character. “Bloke said down the pub!.... “Bloke said! Must be true then”

There will be stacks available on the resale platform for most games I reckon.

Somebody on SSC emailed SCX about the rails a couple of weeks ago. The NFL pitch is AstroTurf that stays permanently in place. The rails that run through it are covered up with strips of AstroTurf that fit over them before NFL pitch is used. The football pitch obviously turf is rolled under the south stand when needed. And the turf stays permanently in place as well and is nourished under the stand with lighting and watering. I think some folk seem a bit confused in last couple of pages. It’s all pretty simple in theory.

I'll defer to the experts - I don't think they designed it to be too complicated. And they don't get this far, and say "Huh, how are we going to replace the fieldturf every time we move the grass pitch?"

My guess is that there is something that goes over the rail to provide a level surface, and then that portion(s) of the fieldturf is rolled on and off, with the remainder of the NFL field somewhat permanently in place.

The other thing to remember - the NFL turf will be used 2 times a year for games, and maybe another 6-8 times for other events. Even if they put an NFL team here - its just 10 games a year. In other words, nobody is going to be constantly shifting from grass to fieldturf every couple of days - but Levy is on record as wanting to host an NFL game and Spurs on the same day - so, the transformation is really done in a matter of hours.
As you say, it must be a very simple solution, especially if they are talking of playing both sports on the same day. But very few people seem to know apart from the 'wtf'ers on my post, and they are keeping it to themselves.

I dare say NFL players feel the same way about artificial pitches as we do, and if they have to play on it, want it to have the same qualities as natural grass. Their lives depend on it. And the modern approach is using granules. And such an Infill type pitch is a permanent structure - you can't just roll it up...

Here's a link to a pitch, long ago replaced, astroturf 2012, that can be temporarily stuck down with velcro:
https://www.houstonchronicle.com/sp...m-adds-AstroTurf-with-state-title-3991602.php

That whole pitch was temporary and the main NFL team would not use it. But I think we will be installing similar - (velcro - cant get much faster than that!). And I guess it makes sense to have the option to be able to totally remove the pitch for some events (monster trucks etc).

Any way, I've convinced myself if no-one else.

Edit: Thanks Coys 200 - Astroturf it is!

The pitch is pretty self explanatory really.
I think all that needs to be remembered is that it isn't a fully automated process, and both pitches will need some manual work to "fill in the seams and gaps" when they are transitioning from one to the other.

The rails on the NFL pitch will be covered with removable segments that run the length of it. (Not necessarily in one go)

The football pitch, (when the trays have done their closing/pincer movement) needs the joins to be stitched together somewhat.

There will be an element of tearing when the trays separate for storage. But I'm sure they've tested that numerous times (they have at Hotspur Way) and they don't see this as being any kind of major issue.

The only question I want to know is how difficult, how many steps do I have to climb to get to my seat in the North Stand, 514 row 4. Have been spoilt by the lovely escalators and the easy access of Club Wembley so it's a shame to have to revert to nineteenth century access

you mentioned in the ticket renewal thread about mobility issues. do you have blue badges? as there will be plenty of disabled parking under the stadium (well there was in the plans), and I believe they will have lifts to the stadium.

Can you tell us what it is when you're able to?

I will do in time. As far as I'm aware this will be a world first unless someone else done it and not telling for the same reason.
