edmonton: Official position is it will be ready early August. There is a brilliant card to play if it all goes wrong.

Wonder what that “ brilliant “ card was ? I’m sure in 5 years he has got some stuff correct but of late he is pretty off the mark.

Will they have to tear it all down though? That's my point really, I don't see why they would have to, presumably the thousands of devices and panels don't require changing and are in situ. The problem as I understand it is restricted to the fire safety system whereas the Berlin airport isn't restricted to just, or maybe not at all, the fire safety systems, we know the electrical system in the ground is ok as they've been testing it over the last few weeks, same goes for the franchise equipment and presumably the payment systems in the stadium mirror the systems in the club shop so there's no reason to assume they aren't ok.
All of which leads me to be optimistic, clearly it doesn't convince you so we probably aren't going to agree.

You may well be right. All i've said is i don't know. I don't know what needs to be done or how long it would take. It might be done tomorrow or next year. I'm just saying it's a possibility it might take a while.

from a very third hand source (friend at an events company) we are planning test events before Christmas. Been told they can get me match tickets once we open. They will be selling packages to tourists apparently but I haven't seen anything official about that.

Not sure painting lines is much indication ultimately it’s something they can do 24 hrs before. Probably for PR photos.

I think they knew for months September wasn’t real but wanted the cash lump sum of ST sales. However I think they probably thought before Xmas was definitely doable before the fire system stuff. They basically took a bit of a punt and is backfired horribly. I think the next announcement has to be final. Either in January/February or it’s next season.
So, the club was so hard up for money that they hatched and executed a plan to relieve the supporters of the Season Ticket funds as a loan, knowing that they would have to return it because they (the club) knew the Stadium would not be ready,..... I hear you :cautious:

The season is over in 6 months not a year.

For the benefit of @westmorelandspurs and @realmadyidd (who somehow think I am being 'creative' or 'WTF' by stating that the season finishes in 6 months rather than a year's time) our last league fixture is 12th May 2019, not 12th November 2019 (believe it or not there is a 6 month gap between those two dates). For the record we are currently in November 2018.

How the hell was Edmonton or anyone at the club to know in April that safety problems would be discovered 3 months later?

Ive gotta say the veil is looking outstanding imo! Was abit dubious at first but it looks so sharp with the way it wraps around the west stand entrance and swoops around. Shame the east stand is being left behind but its undestandable to get the front and south finished first.
Will look incredible all lit up like we have seen in the mock up pictures.
Interior is looking near complete too. Ive not seen anything to worry about recently. I think the remit has clearly changed from the stadium being 'able' to host a game to getting the stadium 'completed with all the bells and whistles completed 'sky bar, veil, skywalk' ect.

Id expect test events over dec with the grand opening 13th jan v united. Cant wait.

Not quite as simple as that obviously. But if they knew it wouldn’t be ready logistically what were their options for ST sales. They could do what they did. Otherwise they would have had to contrive some weird part Wembley part WHL ST which was never feasible. My point is, that it was their easiest option and quite handy to have the lump sum which they are paying back at a trickle interest free. It was certainly the best option for them.

Marking the penalty box and halfway lines.

I know. If we had the NFL logo and yardage painted on the pitch too, like they have at Wembley, that would save all that trouble of retracting the pitch under the stand.
Just change the goal posts and it would be good to go...

I still don't buy next season. What is so wrong with the thing that it's going to take eight months to put right and that only takes us up to the end of this season, how can they know it will take that long and if it's that bad how can they be sure they'll even get it done by then? Not to mention they seem to be pushing on with the completion, not at all like they have almost a year before the first game.
I'm still running with the idea that they are going for January and are going all out to make it look the dog's bollocks ready for the first game, so if there's going to be a delay why not turn it into a benefit as best we can.
From a football point of view it is also better for the team to play in the new stadium this season to get the teething troubles out of the way and get used to the place so they are all settled in at the start of next season.
If it was truly fire systems related then something is very wrong and time will be needed to fix. See the new berlin airport which is still unopened.

Yes but is the new Berlin airport not open because of fire alarms or is it the enormously complex systems they are installing across the entire complex.

The fire alarms were a problem, a lad at work was saying his dad work works for the company they could not handle it. I am sure there are a few other things as well.

thanks, but had I intentionally rated your post I would have rated it "informative" as I love to know the time between two dates. From the post above it appears to be a passion of yours too.

Not quite sure about his position as a recognised ITK, but this sort of comment is getting close to the bone. I suggest you reel it back in. (y)
