The bald midget has to go!

I'm wondering if Sky will move the West Ham game given that it could be the first derby at the new stadium. I'm hoping they move it to Sunday since I'll be in Leamington Spa Friday and Saturday and getting the train there and back will be a ball ache! TV fixture changes should be announced today anyway apparently.
Send sky your availability mate ?

The crowd was dominated by people who lived locally in those days. You didn't have tens of thousands of people trying to bring cars in from Essex and Herts.

Agree on your point but the comment I was responding to was how would the public transport cope with the increased crowd. I believe that with the added VICTORIA line , the improved overground line to Liverpool Street and the increased number of buses that the public transport will be ok. We’ll still have to queue to get on the trains but then we used to do that anyway.

I've said this before but the transport links are significantly better than they were when I was a child and spurs used to have consistent attendances of over 50,000 - That was in the good old days of standing only and there were no problems with getting to and from the stadium.
For the big games, they used to lock the gates for general admittance an hour, maybe 2, before kick-off so fans arrived over a longer period, rather than today when everyone wants to arrive just in time for KO.

As for fans leaving, 20k(?) were held back on the shelf as there were just a few narrow staircase exits at the front and I think just 3 main staircases at the back, (plus a small private staircase for the cage). It took a long time to empty. If 50k all flooded the street at 4:45, crushing would have been a serious risk in the High Rd.
I suspect the kettling effect of the shelf was a design feature.

For NWHL, I dare say there will be pinch points to control the flow of people around the ground, but according to SSC, the requirement is 19k stay back for food and drink (maybe up to an hour?) which seems pretty ambitious for a midweek game. It is not going to happen. Not with a carrot alone.
The stick I suspect will be fans held back on the south square for a similar time. The alternative is the council restrict the capacity.

Most definitely is a worry, that amount of people leaving NWHL all at once
Must be even less space now around the ground, than ever!!

But don’t like the idea of the peasants being held back 30mins whilst the east/west vacate the stadium

Will end up with large parts of the Park Lane emptying with 10mins left...

Will need many more carrots. We’ve had more than enough sticks...

I'd guess that the club will hold some smaller event type things throughout the stadium (live music, meet and greets, etc) after matches to get people to stick around and avoid everyone trying to leave at all at the same time.

You would think there's enough places to travel from to control it. If they run enough services from WHL, Northumberland, Seven Sisters & Tottenham Hale (overground and underground) the crowd should spread out. Ideally they need to shut down certain roads on match days and run some diversions for the traffic. Get some control at each station with some metal rails like they have at Wembley station. So when you get to the station it isn't just a pile of people gathered around the entrance.

Any news on the station upgrades?

Boy they do love to give us the 12:30 slots dont they

Yeah, please be Brighton, It would be such a shame if after all this time our first fixture was an early kick off. I want to go up and spend some time before the game getting pissed looking around our wonderful new stadium. Early kick offs are always such a rush.

This is the difference between our ground and Wembley that some people miss. People look at the difficulty getting out of wembley and imagine the same problem but at wembley people are funnelled together and in Tottenham people disperse in many different ways, they'll walk down Park lane, down the High rd, up the High road, down Northumberland park and Tariff rd to Brantwood rd and Dyson rd to the north circ, along White Hart lane, church lane and towards the Hale. From the stations people travel north and south in far more even numbers than at Wembley park for example.

Alot of ifs, but wouldn’t that Brighton game also need to be moved again if we are drawn to play on the Tuesday night in the Champions League (assuming we go through!)?

Brighton would be everything I could dream of. Late game on a Sunday, hopefully in nice weather.

Can’t stand Sunday games myself. Would rather a late one on the Saturday if it has to be late. Ideally, Saturday 3pm...TV won’t ever allow that though!

That Brighton game would be perfect.
All afternoon build-up on SKY, late afternoon for an all day event style opening for the spectators/club, reduced footfall/traffic on a Sunday to ease any issues for Police/Safety etc.

Almost as if it's been planned....
