Can't tell you whether TFL will allow the station name change though. It's on a case by vase basis and there is plenty of precedent.

Arsenal station's name was changed.

Prior to that it was called "Stupid place for a south london team to play".

If I remember correctly, the supermarket is due for completion end of November, so that would fall into the timeline nicely...
The date I have is January 27th, 2014.
I say this with some authority, as 27 and 14 are my favourite numbers and if you add them together they come to 41, Brad Friedel's age. It is also the date that the riders of the Apocalypse are due. Which is a shame as I'd like to have seen at least one match at the new ground before we were all obliterated.
But i may be wrong on the date.

Has the tender for the stadium gone out yet? I know it will most probably be the same company, but I'm guessing they will still put it out for tender anyway?

The company who is building the supermarket and built the training ground have never built a stadium before. It's a massive project, I'm not sure it's a great idea having them build our stadium if they've never don't it before.

Agree cannot see the club taking on the risk on Maclaren as the Main Contracor going bust if there is a major supplier problem. More likely to be one if the big guns such as Robert McAlpine.

I used to check COYS to see what Edmonton is saying, but I'm no longer a member there. Can anybody keep an eye on 'Home Sweet Home' for his posts?

Ta in advance.

Nice article.

To help in the meantime I suggest we all buy as many prawn sandwiches as possible.

About the stadium David Lammy tweeted the following on Jan 23rd: 'Chairman told me before Xmas the earliest it could start will be December 2013 but he has lots of detail to sort before then'.

According to the 'Tottenham Plan' the stadium build was scheduled to start in the summer, but the Sainsbury's food store is due to be completed in November, so December 'at the earliest' fits with the plan to begin phase II after phase I is finished.

From what we know, after approval of the Brook House development from which a small amount of enabling finance may come, the club is now concentrating on the Stadium Approach (SA) project. The 'detail' here includes whether Network Rail will co-finance the reconfiguration of WHL, and how quickly the SA is approved by Haringey after public consultation. The financing of the new WHL station will determine how much is left from the Mayor's grant for the Stadium Approach.

It's not clear whether the club expects some enabling finance to come from the SA project, e.g. from the development of commercial space. If that is the case, then the final shape and approval of the SA will directly influence the financing of the stadium and therefore when the stadium build may start. It's also possible that the final design of the exterior of the stadium could depend on what kind of SA is finally approved: I'm thinking of the way in which the sight lines of the Stadium Approach should fit with the exact placement and design of the main stadium entrance as well as the surrounding public concourses.

I wonder whether there is enough time before the end of the year to deal with all these 'details' and whether, therefore, we should expect a later start for the stadium build. In any case, I expect it won't be too long before we hear more about the Stadium Approach because public consultations should begin soon. At that point we should know more about the overall plans and timetable.

It appears that CPOs, assembling the land and sorting out right-to-light issues should be done by the middle of the year. Other (crucial) 'detail' would include
- agreeing the naming rights deal,
- arranging the finances and
- concluding the construction contracts.

Obviously, after finalising the plans for the Stadium Approach, the key issue, as always, is financing.

Whilst i agree to a point, its unfair on people who are smaller than those in front of them as well as people who may not be physically able to stand up for long periods. It is also against the law so wont be allowed.

Isn't most (maybe all) of that 'old news'? I thought the CPO's were sorted ?

First there was this from 2010 - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...rt-lane-by-Mayor-of-London-Boris-Johnson.html

Then there's this from March 2012 - http://www.tottenhamjournal.co.uk/n...l_business_in_the_way_of_new_ground_1_1334278

What aren't I getting here?

EDIT: Never mind. I just read the very last sentence of the 2nd link I provided, it confirms I'm a dick!!

Funny how the public reacted poorly to us getting about £8mill of public money after the Riots for regeneration but yet West Ham are getting £60million in public money and about £90million in loans also from public money
