Funny how the public reacted poorly to us getting about £8mill of public money after the Riots for regeneration but yet West Ham are getting £60million in public money and about £90million in loans also from public money

From what I have seen there hasn't been that many positive responses to this news! If only there was somewhere the taxpayer could lodge their complaints?

petition perhaps but the tories have adopted the olympics as a PR stunt hence the scaremongering about a white elephant tbh

It's all in the spin.

If you get the media on your side, shout about doing things 'in the Queen's name', and paint the competitor as the bad guy, then the (consequently misinformed) public will buy it. If the truth comes out after the deed is done, they don't care: it's too late.

You could get your MP on to it, and/or the appropriate government minister and/or the local and national print and broadcast media and/or start a petition or a campaign. In fact you and everybody else has had at least five years to do that. Which is exactly what I would have done had I still been in England paying taxes, and what I've been advocating on various Spurs forums for some time.

There's no point bitching about it when it's too late.

Is this even being built? Not convinced.

We have been at the same point for ages.

No we haven't. From what I've read there's a lot of work going on behind the scenes on the Stadium approach from White Hart Lane station. That wasn't part of the original scheme.

The scheme has changed so much over the last few years, I'm sure there'll be more changes between now and when that shovel hits the ground on the stadium build.

Phase one has only started a couple of months ago (announced on Feb 29th). I know a couple of months is a long time for some of you, but in the scheme of things it's not that bad.

Yes is it is and I think we will see it for 2016 if we do start this summer but whether ENIC build is another matter imo

2016, in my opinion = no chance. Phase 1 (Sainsburys) isn't due for completion until around November/December time (somebody please correct me if I'm wrong) and, as far as I'm aware, any commencement of the actual stadium work won't begin until December, at the very earliest (David Lammy also tweeted such words not too long ago).

The goalposts seem to be constantly moving in this project, funding (naming rights & investors etc) isn't even in place, which is the most annoying part of all of this, considering we (THFC) spoke out about beginning our search for someone to buy the naming rights as far back as 2009.. http://www.tottenhamhotspurs.tv/for...enham-chelsea-raise-stakes-naming-rights.html ... And then there was talk, at the end of 2011, that we had lined up/were lining up Qatari Airways http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...fer-Qatari-Airways-stadium-naming-rights.html

I believe there was also ITK that was circulating about the latter bit of info? Anyway, my point was that I reckon we'll be hard pushed to see our new stadium before 2018.

2018 I take it you mean it fully finished, as the Emirates took around 2 and half year to finish a full stadium whereas we only intend to finish 3/4's. Considering that Lammy said the last he heard we were pushing for the end of this year, I think if we do start building during next season we should finish before the 2016 season starts.

I agree there doesnt seem to be alot going on in terms of naming rights but I think thats because we are exploring several different avenues now with relation to funding including selling the club. Interesting that Arsenal didn't announce anything for a year and then once funding was secured that they started bulding straight away, though we are expected to apply for planning permission once again iirc.

Im expecting because it has been so quiet that we may been announce a shitload of news when do finally do a update

Thanks beats... Yes mate I meant fully completed, as in the whole project, not just the stadium. We have a much more ambitious project than the one that Arseanal had, due to the redevelopment of the whole publicly accessible area (assuming we stick to the blueprint within those stunning computer generated images that the club have released in the past).. Though I'll admit that I didn't realise The Emirates Stadium went up as quickly as you said in your response. That's pretty bloody impressive really!!

It is, quick and I found that surprising as I thought they might had issues with the water level on the foundations and the fact they did also have to build two bridges which was a major part of the project iirc

We do also have to knock down a stadium and clear the land.
The stadium wouldnt be knocked down until we have finished 3/4 of the new one and then we expect to build that quarter as well as knocking it down during the season. As for the land around WHL, Im sure there was a picture showing most of the area behind the North Stand being cleared except the steelworks? or the company who had objected

Sorry just meant that it might take a bit longer than the Emirates due to the inconvenience, rather than bulldoze everything and build. We need to do it in stages. Not saying it was the wrong decision, just that it might take a little longer.

Indeed, if by some miracle we do make that date Lammy said that is still 3 and half years to complete a stadium that has better access than the last two major stadiums built in London of course we will have finish early if we are playing in midweek and it is easier and I do expect that final 1/4 to take a age to build but it will interesting how we play with the stadium being built...

Most new modern stadiums require the roof to be completely finished before removing supports as the bowl stadiums have tension and compression rings like the Cape Town stadium and Olympic staduim or arches that are in tension and compression, like the wembley arch or the Cowboys stadium

So this may mean that we will be playing with supports holding the partial roof up during the season similar to this

Of course I suspect that our supports will be on the unfinished end tbh and not like the beams in WHL and above. Lets hope we dont have some last minute errors and have "beams" in the corners like Juve
