billy white is back on coys, those with better memory than me can probably point out what he got right in the past (sponsors or kit maker or something?), anyway he said:
Good things come to those who wait. Big, big things could be around the corner.
Levy is working to pull off something spectacular and it's really starting to look like it might happen. Stay tuned.

If I had a pound for every time Levy was working on something spectacular....

Heh.

That was 'nice'. Earlier in the thread, when encountering similarly selfish, lazy and demanding posts, I was much less 'nice'.
I was tempted to make a joke but I now fear your wrath.

The ITK is titillating to say the least but my spider sense leads me to think it's an impressive stadium related commercial deal, perhaps naming rights with a front loaded payment that will allow the club to pay off more of the construction costs without increasing borrowing.

No, £43.50. Work that one out.

He worked on 43 spectacular things and a spect. It works out at 41 pence for the spect, since the eleven letters of spectacular cost £1 and spect is five letters. That works out at £43.41. Due to lack of loose change in the correct denominations he had to be given a 50 pence piece instead of 41 pennies. Therefore earning £43.50

If spectacular is z and £1 is y:

ZxY=43.5

Y÷Z=0.909.. since Z contains 11 letters.

Z×43=43Y

Z×0.5=5.5 letters
can't use 0.5 letters so use 5.
0.909x5=41p
41p+£43= £43.41
Factor in the lack of pennies and it works out as £43.50

There.

Just to return to Populous involvement in stadium I believe that their main remit was to redesign corporate areas and boxes and to better integrate the single tier "kop" South stand possibly increasing capacity as a result.

Supposedly.

But I can't help thinking that there's more to it than that.

Firstly, if the changes to the stadium were relatively minor, I can't believe that David Keirle would be so despondent about KSS losing the job. It would still, fundamentally, be his stadium that Spurs build.

Secondly, Keirle said that Populous were working on an entirely new design and that it would be up to 15 metres taller. Further itk from edmonton suggests similar.

Hopefully we'll soon find out for sure, one way or another.

The NFL have had a meeting. They discussed possibly building a stadium in London that is designed to suit NFL. It looks like it would be uneconomical.

But goes to show that they are not happy with Wembley. If we do design WHL to suit both sports it could be taken up a lot quicker than waiting for a London franchise.

Also Mayple Leaf (our partners) are rumoured to be preparing a bid for the Bills and could possibly move them out of Buffalo, most likely to LA, but who knows?

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/writer...y-sale-of-bills-could-speed-up-the-race-to-la

"One of the topics broached, at least briefly, by the NFL's International Committee (often referred to as the London Committee by team executives, given that much of the work done here is with an eye toward growth in England) was the idea of perhaps looking into the funding of a football-specific stadium in London.

It was stressed to the teams that this is an exploratory idea, in its infancy, but expect more to build on this in years to come. Currently, the league plays regular season games at Wembley Stadium, which was constructed to be the home stadium for England's national soccer team to host matches with other countries, as well as to host soccer events like the FA Cup. It isn't ideal for football and though it would do in a pinch, with the league continuing its study of a possible franchise in London, the idea of a stadium designed with American football in mind is taking foot."

Good find. Cheers for that.

Just to be accurate, the article doesn't say that an NFL stadium in London would necessarily be uneconomical. It merely hypothesises that a study might find it to be economically unviable.

Regardless, it certainly fans the rumour flames.

I think today's events are increasingly showing just how important a new stadium is to us.

Even with a good squad, the best training facilities in Europe and a respectable transfer funds we're still a very, very long way off. Although winning frack all recently does go some way in contributing to that.

It's staggering how many people don't get that. To build anything you need secure foundations and in football the infrastructure are the foundations

Thinking about Populous' involvement, could it be they are redesigning the interior with particular emphasis on the electronic gadgetry that may be installed. Were they involved on the OS design, I thought that the Olympics was very imprssive with what they could display around the stadium. Or am I being an Optimist again?
