no idea which decade or under which owner the new stadium will be completed but I certainly hope it will have safe standing areas, just a matter of time before these return to the Premier League and Championship.

the Europe point I think is only valid in view of the ban on English clubs post-Heysel. In the 80s, we won two fa cups, one uefa, lost a league cup final, nearly won the title but were worn down by everton in the home straight and somehow managed not to win anything under pleat in 87. we were box office when I was growing up, and we can be again...
True but that was not something we could change at the time. I'm amazed at your age given your moniker. Totally threw me, I thought you were around my age using Cliff. Not saying anything wrong with doing so BTW.

Update from Edmonton on COYS

'Brief archway update. Some division at the top about whether to settle or not. However, the appeal is considered weak and we should expect a deal to be done.'

If the appeal is weak, then hopefully it will get chucked out before it reaches the the stage where it's heard at the high court.

Haringey Council confirmed today that the latest setback to Tottenham Hotspur's new stadium had implications for the wider Northumberland Development project but other regeneration schemes for the area remained on track.

The Premier League club was dealt a new blow this week when the long running saga surrounding the compulsory purchase of Archway Sheet Metal Works took another twist as the Josif family exercised their right to challenge Communities Secretary Eric Pickles' decision to approve the CPO.

It now means the club will face a High Court hearing at some point in the future to find out if it is still able to acquire the last remaining land needed for the 56,000 capacity stadium to go ahead. This latest delay means Spurs are unlikely to be in their new home for the start of the 2017/18 and will have to play their 'home' matches outside Tottenham for the first time in their history.

Haringey Council confirmed the news would hold up parts of the wider Northumberland Development regeneration scheme but remained upbeat.

In a statement it said: “We remain committed to the Northumberland Development Project, and have been clear all along that this CPO is an important part of delivering more than £400 million of investment to Tottenham.

“We are continuing to press ahead with many regeneration plans for Tottenham, which together will bring thousands of new high-quality homes, long-lasting job opportunities and superb transport links for Tottenham’s residents.

“The new Spurs stadium will support our ambitions, and we’re pleased that the club’s long-term commitment to Haringey remains.”

sounded more like a deal will be done before it goes to court. Or thats the way i read it

Think that's what we all hope for

However it takes 2 to Tango

If Archway still want £25m for a site with a market valuation of £1m - £2m (which is what they are entitled to) where do we go ? Maybe we need to let them lose again before they will negotiate at a realistic level

my old man said... I was either gonna be a Cliff or a Jimmy based on his favourite players. Hope the board can find a way to settle, or even Cain Hoy do! Cheers.

How much per year are we losing and have we lost by not doing a deal quickly?
Must be more than difference between the two sides a couple of years ago.
If not why are we bothering in the first place.

Maybe, I'm not sure there is a 'sift out' stage in this sort of litigation. If Archway wants its day in court and we don't settle, then it will go to court.

All previous property owners settled reasonably and therefore set the market price, 70 properties at £25million each I'd guess makes the whole thing too expensive but what do I know?
The simple fact is that we are where we are now and Archway may be able to delay us but not by much, a season perhaps and not at a cost of £25 million, even if they'd accept what we'd lose why should we pay them, we might as well wait another season at no extra cost.
It therefore seems pretty clear that any offer that would be financially worthwhile to us wouldn't accepted by them so there isn't the option of a quick deal and I doubt there ever was.
I'm not sure the time taken to get this done so far has been affected by Archway much as they'd like to think it is.

I still don't understand this bit about having to play our home games at another stadium because of the delay caused by the CPO appeal. Why does that make any difference?

Only one season from first brick to last rather than three quarter build then finish the last end during the following season, so if start is delayed the finish won't be.

One season build instead of two, will give us an extra season of increased revenue at capacity.
