Anyone know what them orange arm things are that go across foundations?
They're props.

The ground has been dug out behind the sheet piles fairly deep. The props prevent the retained ground from causing the sheet piles collapsing.

Mate, you should see the amount of Spurs, WH, Chelsea etc scarves & banners in just the stanchions at the Etihad. It didn't exactly jinx the goons when they moved in, Wenger did that later.

Is it just me concerned that the pentagram is a hex against us?

I reckon we should have a Rabbi bless the ground anyway (if Rabbi's actually do that sort of thing) before we play in it. It truly would be hallowed ground then.

Actually the pentagrams first significance were the 5 seeds of chronos that were planted in the earth that made the cosmos appear. Maybe it's a good sign.

hertyid: We aren't anywhere close to having stadium sponsor yet but very clear shift away from the WHL name apparently.
I thought the tie-in with the NFL was going to have the sponsors falling over each other to hand their cash over?
It is obviously early days, but the designers have come up with an amazing dual purpose stadium, so I am wondering what the problem is, that we aren't anywhere close. That reads to me like no real interest.

I welcome the NFL, but only as a means to significantly help pay for the stadium. Interesting as the retractable pitch is, and the suspended 'kop' end, it is 99% for the benefit of the NFL and if they/their associated sponsors are not going to come up with some big money up front, then financially these features do not make much sense.

I've commented before on how they have left the new pitch at ground level, so it would not surprise me even at this late stage where the foundation are being dug out, if there are still a number of more practical options we could switch to once NFL obsessed Boris gives the OK for those historical buildings to be flattened.

Why is the kop end 99% for the benefit of the NFL.?

I if i had to guess this is Levy. He's also not wrong on this front either, the longer we leave this the more lucrative the deal will become, so there's method in waiting until the last moment before agreeing on a deal, sure this might mean some partied lose interest in the interim, but in these scenarios it's highly likely Levy will win out with a better deal as things progress.

Stadium naming rights is something that takes multiple years to negotiate, not a month. There's definitely interest.

I agree. For information as a comparison, construction on the Emirates began in Feb 2004. Emirates Airline weren't announced as the sponsor of the naming rights until October that year. No need to panic yet Mr Manwarring.

Plus, why rush into a naming rights deal when the club is still competing for the title? If we win, we might attract a higher tier of sponsors that want to jump on board. We have 2+ years until the stadium opens, it's a fluid situation. Definitely no need to rush.

A stadium naming rights deal is only likely to be signed when the stadium construction is well under way and there is almost certainty that it will be completed within a known time frame.

DL re-iterated that many months ago in a press release.

Suggest we wait for 6 - 12 months (assuming Boris gives his go ahead within the next month or so, and there are no legal challenges).

Emirates deal may not have been announced well after construction but the deal would have been struck months if not years earlier.

I'd be surprised if haven't signed papers on a deal with someone, even it is subject to conditions like Boris and construction starting.

Lots of talking to 'socialise' a deal - yes without doubt

Signing a deal - no way is anyone going to commit a huge marketing budget until there is absolute certainty that (a) the project id going ahead and (b) there is no bad news of any kind going to taint the project (and devalue its marketing rights such as a Wembley like delayed stadium delivery

No sponsor would want to associated by name with a project that might hit problems - I get that.
But given we are going full steam ahead with this thing, and given all that effort we put in to entice the NFL sponsors - the NFL were mean to to be lining them up as I remember - I was expecting the ITKs by now to be giving us a little bit more than nowhere close to a deal.

Unless of course Hertyid meant we are nowhere near a deal with the 3 mega corporations that we have narrowed it down to. That would be more than fine. :)

I'll add that I believe the tie in with the nfl is genuine. I imagine Joe Lewis would be quite pleased with himself if he got to see NFL games in his own stadium, but whether that means he would be prepared to splash out big time to achieve that is another question.
