I gather it wasn't so much testing the facilities themselves as much as an 'orientation' day for the staff. So that when we have the first public test event the stewards know where to be and where to point people, the caterers know their way around the kitchen, the bar staff have got used to the bottoms-up beer pouring etc.

I’m being a bit pedantic and I know it’s a football stadium not an airport, but will all the ceilings on the concourse be left exposed as they are. Just looks a bit ugly compared to the rest which looks beautiful.

cost savings...

Plus, it will save money later in terms of repairs to wiring, ducts, etc. that are easily exposed now, as opposed to some form of ceiling.

probably not a priority at the moment, but from what i can remember of the renderings it will be covered.

How was it??

They were very nice burgers!

Probably that electrics work for screens, turnstyles, food and bits like that? That's just a guess from the photos. @DJS might be able to say more as was there.

A lot of people (like dad) were going to get measure in uniforms for stewarding, loads of people there as think he was queuing about 1 hour 20 mins.

They were also testing the food outlet and just letting people have a look around specific areas to see how much work has been done on it.

Quite a bit was gated off still, but they let us go up into one one stand on the first / ground floor floor, the control room that i think was third floor and we also were allowed in one stand on fifth floor, which was good as got a really good view of all around.

Some of the screens in the gangways under the stands in first floor were operation as well.

Looks like a lot of bars were probably done but just covered over as not operational yet and some of the bareness on walls was probably just finishing needed doing once everything in place. It was a LOT nicer than when I remember working in south stand and walking around the good old blocked up woody east stand!

Air con was really nice in there as well.

hertyid. guess he went to the event yesterday, also guess he means south not north stand:
Astonishing stadium. The seats in the south and north stands in particular are incredibly close to the pitch, seems like only a few feet. The South Stand Kop is very steep and imposing. The upper tiers of the West and East Stands are similarly steep and hang over the pitch like at the Bernabeu. The concourses and wide and spacious, and all feel like Club Wembley in terms of the food and drink options and the quality of the finish. It's really, really impressive, much better than I expected (having not been there since the last game at old WHL).

Spoke with some club officials about the timeline, and they said it's tight but they aren't worried about finishing. 3000 people working there each day, they can fit 5000 seats in a day, pitch is on schedule, changing rooms and tunnel club up next, south stand almost finished. Honestly, most of the stadium was open yesterday, 1st 4th and 5th floors North, West and East stands. It's all ready to go.

Some really nice touches, the bricks from the old Shelf in the walls at either end of one of the bars, the platform at the top of the North Stand where the Cockerel will sit, the new Park Lane Kop stand is just totally epic (with longest bar in Europe), the technology is amazing (can pour 60,000 pints in 5 minutes).

They have done an amazing job recreating WHL and not just a generic bowl. When you are down by the dugout, you feel the enormity of the stadium looking up to the gods. When you are up top in the 5th tier, you feel like you are in the Colosseum in Rome.

It's going to be epic when Liverpool come to town on 15th September.

That is all good to hear as some have been panicking that it won't be ready. Can't wait to go myself, I honestly think it will be the best stadium in the UK. There are going to be a lot of very jealous fans out there after their visit to WHL. Not only at our world class stadium but for the 3 points we just smashed their team off the park for. COYS!

Hi, new on here. I have genuine concerns about the stadium being ready. We are less than six weeks away from the Liverpool game and the stadium doesn't look anywhere near ready. Chris Cowlin (youtube) had builders shouting to him that there was no way the stadium would be finished, and even as the most optimistic supporter in the world he is starting to look doubtful. The pitch isn't laid, many seats need installing, the roof isn't complete, and the outside looks the same as it did months ago. What concerns me the most is the lack of apparent urgency. There always appears to be so little going on.

Go back a few pages and look at the posts from the first test event, should make you feel better.

It will be ready, it may not be completely finished but it will be ready, pretty sure they'll lay the turf this week and then it will look much more like it.

If it was ready now we’d be playing Fulham there. There’s work to do but constant worrying by uninformed people (no offence) is just pissing in the wind. We’ll know next month. In the meantime we go by what they tell us.

I'm sorry but that is a terrible post, we all know the stadium won't be complete for the Liverpool game but it WILL be ready.
You mention the pitch - that's on schedule, pitches dont take long to lay at all.
Likewise the seats - 5000 seats can be fitted per day. 3/4 of the seats are already in.

The roof is virtually done, it was safe enough for the 1st test event so its just a finishing off job now.

You are totally wrong about the lack of urgency. I went down to the stadium recently and I can tell you first hand its absolutely buzzing with activity.

As I said there will be many finishing jobs to do even after the opener against Liverpool but there's still almost 6 weeks to go.
