Can't say that was a great deal of fun to watch but 3 points are very welcome. Dembele allowed us to see out the match and I'm pleased that we've not let him go yet. . .

Totally understand that players are rusty but I was a bit disappointed in Moura as I thought today was going to be where he would shine but he didn't offer a great deal - but then neither did anyone else :)

I don't see why Sissoko is getting so much stick. I thought he played well today for a position he's not used to. Could easily have had a goal too.

Aurier's defending/positioning was also poor, but he was decent in an attacking sense, with an assist, so on balance was no sloppier than many other players out there (Davies, Kane and Eriksen all showing some rustiness out there).

We were very lucky to go home with 3 points. Why on earth Sissoko could play 90 min is beyond everyone.

I actually thought Dier had a decent game. Was more positive than normal and covered a lot of ground especially in the first half. Aurier on the other hand, the least said the better.

Dembele is still the first name on the sheet for a centre midfield position for me, regardless of the majority on here wanting him gone asap.
Are most really wanting him gone? Not sure thats true. What is thought to be true is that he has serious fitness issues and is unlikely to be able to play regularly. In the context he is no longer the future of the team.

we had Lady Luck on our side, them two chances that Newcastle in the second half could have finished us off. We really ran out of steam after 70 mins.

Really? Who should have stayed on?

Lucas looked gassed. Dele just coming back - ditto for Kane, before Dier needed to come off.

We needed Sissoko to eat up those minutes to give rest to other players.

BBC having a 'sly dig' at a rival broadcaster? :O)

'We can take lots of positives'

Newcastle captain Jamaal Lascelles speaking to Sly Sports: "We can take a lot of positives from that game, we went toe to toe with them, we feel hard done by.
"When we look back at the goals we can see how we could have stopped them, on the other hand, going forward we were excellent and created chances. We just need to be more ruthless."

Son looked sharp - why didn't he start? Hope Moura's injury (groin?) isn't too serious. Wish Dembele had started.

Probably too risky to play Son because if he got injured and didnt play asian games he would be in the army.

Kane was awful all game, hled nothing and gave the ball away.
Better to take Kane off for TA and put our pace (Moura) central.

We had a spell last season when Kane was injured and our strikers looked really fluid. Playing Kane in his current condition is anti fluid.
You should send a letter to Pochettino.

What’s all this Sky bollocks about Poch taking a gamble by “going strong” and playing a perfectly normal team?

Trying to create controversy out of absolutely nothing.

@Archibald&Crooks not sure what the Doh was for this one - I’m not suggesting “the media is against us” or anything like that - it’s simply pointing out the usual ridiculous Sky nonsense of trying to create drama when there is none - what did anyone expect Poch to do other than play his normal team?

Don’t see why pointing this out is wrong for some reason.

Both sets of players looked knackered with 15 minutes to go. Fair result. We deserved the win even though the barcodes tried hard. Can’t see where their goals are going to come from. Could be another long hard season for them.
