Think he tried to stage a a mutiny...:jimlad:
Yup, tried to lead a revolution against the mods.

I'm sure whatever he did was wrong, but it's just funny reading this, like he's committed some massive crime or something :D

I think this is the type of game where Lamela could have really helped though, he seems to be good at knitting play together when we do look like we're lacking cohesion and fluidity.

Was a bit disappointed in Lucas today but then again Kane and Eriksen were equally as poor really, I look forward to seeing him play when we're linking and are a lot more cohesive in the final third, where he can get his foot on the ball more and have a bit more space. I did love the one little burst into the box he had when his shot was blocked. Hopefully he'll start against Fulham.

Anytime you come away from St James’ Park with 3 points is great.

We were very similar to last season on the first day. All done without Kane and Eriksen really turning up too.

Ahhh it was him was it. I bet there was an incredibly long Braveheart-esque speech involved somewhere then.

Indeed. Haven't seen it first hand, but hear (from my sources) it went something like this:

Run and you'll live -- at least a while. And dying in your beds many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that for one chance, just one chance to come back here and tell our A&C that he may take away our ITK discussion thread access, but he'll never take our ability to view content as a guest!!

I'm not sure what people were expecting with a fatigued squad with no pre-season away to a tough team with a tactically astute manager. Very pleased with the result myself, I was critical of our fullbacks and I expected more from Lucas, Looking forward to Trippier, Alder, Winks and even Dembele hopefully starting soon. Want to know what's going on with Rose as I still feel we look weak at left back.

Dele looked fucking awesome, really happy he scored early hopefully going to go up a level. Kane bless him, the poor lad almost needs an injury before he's going to get the rest he needs, very concerned about how he's being looked after.

Felt sorry for LLorente felt he deserved some minutes.

I think if he was remotely not match fit, Poch wouldn't risk it. He still very much believes in the team before the individual.
I agree. I just think Kane could use a rest now and again, and that it's unlikely that'll happen outside the League Cup.

Moura does seem like one of these players that needs to take a deep breath and calm down. He seems to try and do everything at 100mph and it just looks ragged a lot of the time. A bit like Lamela but with Lamela you can usually see what he's trying to do.

Think he just needs to feel like he belongs in the first team then he will show what he's capable of.

Hopefully the ice on his leg was just precautionary.

Can’t believe the negativity in here.
Really? In this thread of all places?

Wasn't a great game, but there were flashes of nice, sharp interplay at times from us. As might be expected on opening day and with a disrupted preseason. Not expecting full throttle stuff until Sept or Oct. Will be the same for most of though. Either through having players away at wc, or trying to incorporate new signings (obv, latter is n/a to us......).

I haven't seen the result, just the last few pages of this thread. I presume we lost our first match of the season?

Kane just came back from holiday, he doesn't need to rest ffs lol

He just needs more match sharpness which is expected, few more matches and he'll be up to speed.

According to Poch he didn’t get a holiday because of his wife was high pregnant so he actually trained in our training ground a few days before the WC semi finalist players came back

He should’ve just rested

I'll take the 3 points and run. Huge win after a negative week. Weird game due to the lack of fitness and sharpness.

Special mention to Dele for coming back so fit after holiday. Hugo was great too.

Hopefully a weeks training and this game will help others catch up ahead of Fulham.

Sissoko and Aurier worry me greatly though. Hope we don't have to use that combo too often through the season.

Very glad for 3 points.
Not a great team performance.
Sissoko is NOT good enough.
Aurier, mixed bag. Great cross, but goes missing and at times some dodgy defensive work.
Sanchez. mixed bag aswell. Cost us a goal.

Oddly, given everything I think it was a cracking result. Bottom line if that was Man City 2-1 up and surviving wave after wave of attack and standing firm they would be celebrated for winning ugly and doing what is required..well that was us today, getting a brilliant result away from home. COYS.

Great result, we are clearly not match fit, but we will get better.

2-1 away great result I think fatigue gave them more chances than we we would have given away if fully fit, we have injuries, but if we win vs Fulham can get a point at united we will be in a great position.

Try to watch the full 90 minutes and then pass comment.

Yes we won but for 3/4's of the match we were awful and all over the place at the back.

A very lucky but welcome 3 points

The fullbacks contributed massively to our defensive troubles. Half the time when Newcastle won the ball and were on the attack Davies or Aurier weren't even in the picture. Actually think we should have changed to 3 at the back, as we were't doing anything at the other end anyway.
