How many times will we hear the saying "lessons learned" before we see evidence of them actually being learned?
I've never said they learned their lesson, I'm saying I hope they learn from this for next season. It's the youngest squad in the league, they will make mistakes and have off days. That was our only 'hammering' of the season. Yes, under the circumstances it is s***, but I'll take 3rd with 6 defeats and auto CL group stage qualification.

Not often the SC thread gets it right, and 100 pages of it too, but yup....that was absolute bollox. And though I appreciate MoPo's acknowledgement of that - he should have been stronger with his condemnation of our performances of late and this one in particular.
That said - we have, without a doubt exceeded expectations for the season. And now we move on and build on from what we have learnt this season and especially from these past 4 games....
Our Best starting X1 is pretty damn good.
Our current back ups and alternatives need upgrading big time if we are to step up a level.
If we're to compete at the next level - The Mason's, Bentlaleb's, Omaha's need to be moved on, loaned out etc.
The importance of a player as world class as Dembele - can not be underestimated, overtime we've missed him for a few games this season - and we've always dropped points.
I also think we're stronger with Wimmer at the back instead of Verts.
It's been a crushing end to a great season where we have over-achieved. Let's be grateful for our final position and move forward and get stronger - and I trust MoPo will get us there. COYS!

No no no, according to @Welsh mark, aged 14 from Wales, were all wankers.

Being a spurs supporter is like being in an abusive relationship, you always believe they will change and sometimes they have moments where it really feels like it but then ultimately it always ends the same way.

I have spent far too many weekends of my life watching performances like this instead of spending time with my family and next season it is going to change, I am taking a step back and only watching the highlights, I couldn't give two flying fucks about the CL quite frankly as we aren't going to win it so what's the point? I can't be arsed with the stress of it and I have a genuine belief that this team is probably going to get picked apart again by other clubs and based on these last few performances a few of our players may get itchy feet, next season will be a clusterfucker of epic proportions in my honest opinion.

If it isn't I will eat my words gladly but results like today normally have huge consequences, something doesn't seem right, our players just don't look motivated anymore, what has changed? Is it simply because we lost Dembele and Alli? Or is it something more than that?

Or do the players just simply not give a shit? Because losing 5-1 to a relegated side with 10 men isn't just unlucky or "this is football" it is indicative of a major problem imo.

This is why it's an abusive relationship, weeks ago I couldn't even imagine myself saying this, the polar opposite infact, I know many will probably see this as kneejerk but how many times can we be dissapointed like this before we say enough is enough?

We have a LONG way to go and we need to make some major signing in the summer which I personally can't see happening, it's clear to me a lot of the happy clappers don't invest nearly as much time into spurs as some of us.

I'm strangely apathetic about it all - I think a huge part of me saw it coming.

No back to back defeats all season; haven't lost a game by more than a single goal; one point needed against an already relegated side; 5-1.

It's so Spurs it's untrue.

But, in truth, we'll get over it. Another few days of pain and being mocked by friends and colleagues and it'll be over. We'll be in the Champions League next season with an outstanding manager and a great young team.

Would you swap our squad and manager for Arsenal's? Would you fuck.

Wrong! We need better quality back up on top of first 11 improvement

How about a reasoned argument instead of an exclamation mark?

What improves a first 11 player? Knowing the other players in your position aren't as good as you and you're guaranteed a starting spot when fit, or having someone potentially as good/better breathing down your neck?

it was a shit day and people making comments that would be immature in a primary school is embarrassing as a Spurs fan.

I want to give my apologies for my overreactions on this forum today.
I've brought shame on my family and other Spurs supporters.
The players deserve better after the season they've had.

In my defence, I've suffered from depression and suicidal thoughts for two decades now.
To think of it, ever since just a few years after I started to support Spurs.

trust me, today the rest of the football world is laughing at us. The same way we laughed at Liverpool when they 'only' finished 2nd a few years back.

Its true, we finished 3rd in 2 horse race. Thats funny. For fans of every other club.
I'm not interested what they think. I'm interested in how we have improved. We haven't failed.

And? A big so what.

The gooners will be having an open top bus parade and dining out on this for years. And what exactly does that tell you?

Answer: that they are small time mugs that over celebrate small victories instead of concentrating on their faults and weaknesses.

Exactly what I don't want our team or fans to become.

3rd place. Champions league football. A young, quality, hungry team that will want to better this seasons performance from this season and a manager that will demand it.

Not even mentioned the new stadium.

By all means wallow. But for me though, we have bigger and better days and times ahead of us, and I'll be concentrating my energies on that thanks very much.
So you are not the slightest bit angry that we had 4 chances/games to finish Arsenal off and for once not have to suffer the 'mind the gap ' or 'st. Totteringhams day' taunts ?

Why don't you think about the logic of what you have written? It was a two horse race for first, which you get a trophy for. You don't get anything for the other places. Only Spurs fans on here have a tendency not to appreciate what has been achieved this year, but the rest of the footballing world does.

dude...why don't you chill out. It wasn't meant to be profound. It was just light hearted comment made to ease the feeling of disappointment around her

We're all embarrassed by today (and how we've ended the season) but that's a complete overreaction based on the emotion of today.

I don't think it is mate, you may be right but normally results like this have a long term impact and we haven't been playing well for weeks, our mentality is not as strong as we thought and I imagine Poch is probably thinking the same right now.

Meh after all that, another season to forget.

That's not true, it's been my favourite season for the last 20 years, the way it's ended is a kick in the balls but that shouldn't make it forgettable, finishing 13th is forgettable

Why do people feel the need to be doing these pep talk posts telling people how to act? Even the manager is publicly apologising for god sake so maybe thsts a slight clue that those angry are justified?

I suggest that the happy clappers can be happy if they wish and the angry ones can be angry. No one is right or wrong so I think everyone should just let people get on with processing this how they want.
THIS THIS THIS.
