I really want to know who is working as our head scout at the moment. I get that Paratici is probably doing a lot behind the scenes but that was never his job. Feels all a little bit of a mess in this regard at the moment. If you look at DoF, technical directors, whatever you want to call the position they come and go so frequently it seems. It's hard for me to get excited, I'd rather be excited by the set up and that foundations are in place for whoever to come in and do a decent job.
Villa's transfer business has generally been good for a while. Still seems a somewhat underwhelming appointment.Tottenham hold talks with Johan Lange over director of football position

Tottenham Hotspur have held exploratory talks with Johan Lange over their vacant director of football role.
The north London side have identified Lange as a potential successor for Fabio Paratici, who resigned in April following his ban from football.
Paratici resigned after being given a 30-month ban from “any football-related activity” by FIFA that, on appeal, was partially reduced. This was due to his involvement in a case regarding the alleged inflation of capital gains from player trading.
Lange’s departure has been discussed internally at Villa, although nothing has been agreed or formalised yet.
Any incoming director of football at Spurs will be expected to report to chief football officer Scott Munn, who began working in his new role last month after leaving his position as chief executive of City Football Group (CFG) China. He will take charge of all footballing departments, including the academy and the women’s team.
When compared with the Manchester City setup, the way that all the football departments will report to him makes Munn most like CFG’s chief operating officer Omar Berrada, with the director of football in the Txiki Begiristain role, responsible for player deals.
Lange, 43, is currently serving as global director of football development and international academies at Villa. He has been in this position since June this year following an internal restructuring process at the Premier League club which saw Monchi arrive as president of football operations.
Lange had previously been sporting director at Villa, having been appointed in 2020. He also held the position of technical director at Copenhagen from May 2014 to July 2020. He was tasked with improving recruitment and oversaw key signings, including the likes of Ollie Watkins, Matty Cash and Emiliano Martinez.
Tottenham declined to comment when contacted by The Athletic.

Is there are specific reason you think this other than he comes from Villa? I don’t know enough to have an opinion on DOF candidates generally but I don’t think we should be turning our noses up at getting someone from the tier below if they’ve done a good job moving that club forwardVilla's transfer business has generally been good for a while. I am available for a suitable fee and a season ticketSomeone who carries on as we have been the last few years please. Couldn't care less about anything else. I'd settle for a puppet who basically takes his marching orders from Big Pat if that's what's been working.
Too late. Already got my CV in, right down to my swimming badges.I am available for a suitable fee and a season ticket
10M diving badge over here. You come at the king, you best not miss.
If the club's head coaches of recent years are anything to go by, hiring a 'famous name' DoF (or whatever the job title will be) will be no guarantee of success. Postecoglou wasn't the 'famous' or 'glamorous' coach some wanted, but we all love what he's done so far. Maybe a relatively unknown DoF will work in a similar way to AP.Villa's transfer business has generally been good for a while. Still seems a somewhat underwhelming appointment.
