I don't know what his record was like at Copenhagen, but nothing about his time at Villa really stands out to me. From Henri Lansbury's appearance on Ben Foster's podcast, he doesn't seem like the most personable bloke either. I appreciate you have to be cutthroat but there's a manner in which you can get that message across to an unwanted player.

A lot of the signings made on the surface appear to be manager driven (Coutinho, Watkins, Torres), and the ones that don't appear to me as an amazing collection of players. Crucially his record at selling doesn't seem to be amazing either. A lot of free transfers and loans rather than permanent sales especially for foreign players. I don't get Hitchen vibes from him at least but he doesn't look to be at the level of Paratici. Hopefully we're just bringing him in not to rock the boat too much until Fabio is allowed back in post.

Paratici broight in several really good players. For Conte. Who didn’t rate most of them. But same players game good under Ange. Who Paratici didn’t want (his choice was Enrique).

But more on the serious side:

Paratici has one, very serious flaw. He’s obviously really good at spotting talents, but he’s equally terrible in selling players. He was at Juve and he was with us.

Lange’s record at selling players, both at Villa and Copenhagen, is far, far superior.

Gabbi did a really good job for us after Paratici left. But as has been described in several articles, he isn’t/wasn’t a great people’s person and could be a bit difficult to work with. In the Athletic piece, Lange is described as a very likable and popular person. Which fits much better with what Ange has brought to the club. Atmosphere and environment shouldn’t be underestimated in any workplace.
Is it? Pretty easy to sell players at Copenhagen compared to Villa and Spurs for obvious reasons, and at Villa nothing major stands out. The players he got money for were mostly young talented home grown players.

Worth noting that Tottenham and Aston Villa operate within different markets. The players we can attract are vastly different to the players Villa can attract. Bigger club, better facilities, better team, haven't been relegated recently, London etc.

Just wanted to make that point in case any Villa fans are reading this. Hey.

Shame about Gabbanini, I thought he was well thought of and Paratici's right hand man?

I really can’t see why we didn’t keep gabby at all costs his recruitment has been insanely good. Bar son our starting 11 is gabby?

The youth teams look good.

I can’t see how this isn’t a mistake.

I hope Lange is a huge success, but I’ve seen nothing to fill me with confidence. When we play i think bloody hell that’s a talented team thank you fab and gabby.

All this chopping and changing makes me panic. It's all going so well at the moment, shame anything has to change.

"The Italian is a passionate, direct talker, a workaholic like Paratici, and is not one to mince his words. That style does not go down well with everyone. Some simply say he is a 'character', others he has crossed have claimed his style can come across as arrogance and his confidence in his work has not always rubbed up people the right way." Football. London

Sounds to me like the Conte of scouts. Being good at your job is well and good, but an equally big part of any job is being careful of who you make into your enemy. Could be that they just felt his conduct didn't align with the new direction of the club.
He's very very good at what he does mate. So what if he rubs a few bean counters that shouldn't be involved in the decision process anyway, up the wrong way.

He saves those bean counters a hassle by not signing shit players on huge wages.

I just can’t believe we got rid of our golden goose, two more transfers windows how good our squad look.

The only thing we have not done is sign goal scorers up top

You know more than I do, but my feeling is that there's likely more to it than that. If I'm wrong then fair enough.

Work politics is petty; those bean counters have influence and use it to make their work environment easier. You have to play the game sometimes, even if you are right most of the time! :D
