Who knows.

Well, we must assume their job title description is correct.
"Lange will have responsibility for recruitment, analytics and talent identification across our senior and academy teams."

One part of Paratici's previous job, the one fans would judge him the most from. Lange will take the lead like Paratici did, while there's likely some overlap between the old and new positions - Steinsson in the past would have been reporting to Lange.

Not sure why some are worrying over this appointment of Lange , 11:50 into this interview Ange says he would not approve a signing that he didn't think would fit into the system he wants to play with the first team .
On academy & youth signings he said he wouldn't be involved and that would be up to the club.
Have faith in Ange to say what type of player he wants for the 1st team.

Paratici broight in several really good players. For Conte. Who didn’t rate most of them. But same players game good under Ange. Who Paratici didn’t want (his choice was Enrique).

But more on the serious side:

Paratici has one, very serious flaw. He’s obviously really good at spotting talents, but he’s equally terrible in selling players. He was at Juve and he was with us.

Lange’s record at selling players, both at Villa and Copenhagen, is far, far superior.

Gabbi did a really good job for us after Paratici left. But as has been described in several articles, he isn’t/wasn’t a great people’s person and could be a bit difficult to work with. In the Athletic piece, Lange is described as a very likable and popular person. Which fits much better with what Ange has brought to the club. Atmosphere and environment shouldn’t be underestimated in any workplace.
Could be difficult to work with or could be difficult for the Spurs board to work with because he often told them what they didn't want to hear?

When you are spending 100 million a year maybe 200 million go for un popular guy who’s right on the money or the nice one with a track record which doesn’t look good ?

Maybe they should learn to agree with him? Clearly his right!

Paratici was given 30 months ban around March/April of this year and since got partially reduced (same length but allowed more interation) so that he can be employed as a club consultant. Roughly two years left on his current ban - could see it get reduced further more down the line potentially.

Just getting a sense that Paratici is still the defacto DoF for now and possibily long term; Lange was picked (partially at least) due to his easy-going personality/willingness to work with Paratici under this grey-ish circumstance. Obviously a whole lot of guessing on my part as I don't know neither of them and I don't mean to disrepect Lange in anyway.

I got the impression he didn’t want to stay as chief scout but club didn’t think he was right for dof role so he’s left to try and take the step up elsewhere.

I imagine it’s quite a different skill set snd the people skills become a lot more important in the dof role.

I doubt we will ever really know though so no point speculating too much.

whst we to know is the club did a wholesale review of the structure of the football side and have been gradually implementing the result of that since the munn appointment.

Crazy to get rid of Gabbiadini because of his supposed temper. I'm sure Lange and Munn will be very well behaved, minding their p's and q's at all times, especially in front of Mrs. Levy. But is that an essential job qualification? Isn't a scout just supposed to come up with good players? If he brings home the bacon, so what if he ruffles a few corporate feathers in the process...

I don't know, I'm happy that with Paratici still involved, we're likely going to remain okay despite Gabbiadini's departure. Attributing successful signings to one person or another behind the scenes is such a hard thing to do.

Reminder of Ange's first interview where at 2:30 in he explains how before they were signed he talked with Vic & Madders and was satisfied that they were the type of players he wanted , if Lange is our new transfer guru reckon he will have to come up with the goods to satisfy what Ange wants.

We don't really know why he left. There's an assumption that because he was described as combative that it's the reason. It could be that they sat down talking about what they wanted to do, and discussed what he wanted to do with his career and decided it was a good time to part ways. It's all conjecture.

Not sure I remember in recent years any Spurs coach/manager come out and actually say things like this about transfers and having the final say , all I remember is Poch saying Sissoko was a club signing and the painful rebuild stuff.

Would assume when Ange joined he would have discussed transfer policy with Levy and now Munn, if Munn or Levy deny Ange his wishes there would be a whole load of clubs ready to take him on as coach in an instant , they would sack managers to make way for him.

Levy or Munn would literally be torn to pieces by the fans were that ever to happen with all the credit Ange has with not only SPurs but what seems the entire footballing world

Ange is a pretty savvy operator. He'll play his cards wisely, but he and Levy will see the way the fanbase is totally besotted by him already. He'll be able to use to media to lever pressure on Levy if and when the time comes.

We need a scout, not a boy scout.
