Also Newcastle were down the bottom before Howe. Get the right manager and things can turn around pretty quick. I honestly think the talent is there but we haven't seen it because we haven't had the right manager for this group of players.
No doubt we can perform better, however I just cannot trust the board to do the right thing.

Best Levy is desperate Levy - he has trashed the club’s brand and value over the last 4 years that he took 20 years to build - he knows that he cannot get the appointment wrong ( a la a powerless managerial appointment like Nuno) - he will go back crawling to nagelsmann - he would be stupid not to

If he was our no1/2 target and the price was 20m euros.

Then you fucking do it.

Levy. The master of false economy.

I’d have him in my ‘acceptable’ list.
I think that's fair but some on here are making out like he is another Nuno or would be the worst case for us.

He's not all out attack but his team can certainly heap on pressure and he is a very adaptable coach.

People were very happy with Conte's football when it was getting results and top 4.

The issue with Conte was that he is so wedded to his system he doesn't make tweaks so it eventually folds.

Amorim always makes little tweaks so can go from defensive to heavy attack quickly.

Also, Amorim is a perfect coach for young players and player development. He works incredibly well with limited resources and is an incredibly talented coach.

Please stop comparing him to Conte.
Sorry but I'm not ready to convince myself again that yet another manager further down the list is actually the right guy and it's fine.

Not yet.

They have competent leadership/recruitment and have backed the manager with quality signings.

I don’t think it matters now. Amorim may well be a fine coach, but the PR damage is already done with the fan base. He’ll be seen as third/fourth choice, and as someone wedded to three at the back, which for a lot of people implies a pragmatic approach.

First choices rarely work out for us anyway. Jol wasn’t first choice, neither was Poch, Redknapp was an appointment out of desperation.

I remember being gutted we weren’t getting LVG in the Poch summer, and similarly disappointed we didn’t get De Boer. So it may not be the end of the world that we are down to the third/fourth choice.

Fucking feels like it though, and if we got Amorim he’s really gonna need to hit the ground running, cause things are toxic in the fan base right now.

would be absolutely fascinating to know what’s really gone on here
I think and this is only a guess, is that the stories about his kids staying in Holland were true. He always planned to stay.

However he used spurs to negotiate a better deal with Feyenoord.

Thought they were outstanding when they payed us, certainly got a tune out of Porro and edwards

As much as I agree with you, it seems like we were always flirting with a few managers.

Sometimes this works, sometimes it bites you in the ass. 20M would be close to a world record fee for a manger and we all saw how that turned out for both Chelsea and Bayern as both were canned less than a year and a half later.

Internally, if there are a few on a level playing field, than so be it. If he's unanimously your guy then obviously I'm in the camp of pay it, but just have a feeling that's not how it played out.

Would probably make him the second most expensive manager signing ever after Potter. A wonder that not every club just pays these fees for managers!

Or maybe it's not just us that can't swallow that kind of outlay for a staff member rather than an asset into our accounts (where we're already making losses).

I genuinely think if Levy hired Judas Campbell as our next Manager our fans would still sit on their hands and go along with it.

It’s unfortunately so so clear that it doesn’t matter who we end up with the club is screwed from top to bottom with Levy in charge.

Any self respecting manager won’t go near us.

It’s about times the fans showed some self respect too & stop funding this manipulation of an ownership.
