As an Australian, I am extremely excited about this appointment. It's almost as hard following the Socceroos as it is Spurs, but I don't remember a time where I felt more connected and passionate about the national team as when AP was leading them. Quietly optimistic that at the very least, he can bring us somewhere closer to the connection to this club that seems to have wained for a lot of people

This is what Kane has been talking about in recent weeks. Makes me wonder if the two men have spoken in that time.
Everyone is given a clean slate and a fresh start to prove themselves, whether you’re the star player or a 17-year-old waiting to make his debut. Those who are sceptical are almost always won around, and those who don’t fall by the wayside.

I bought into it and reaped the rewards at Brisbane. Three far more senior players didn’t and were gone within a matter of weeks. That’s how Ange works: if you believe in him, he will believe in you too.

This was the approach that kickstarted the Poch revolution. Lets hope BIG Ange gets the backing from above to do what he needs.

Everyone talks about how rotten our squad is and how weak the mentality is, etc.

Think, much like when Poch bombed out Kaboul, Capoue, Adebayor, etc, we'll very quickly find out who's committed to the cause and who isn't under Ange.

Problem we have is we can't shift player because of the market. We can't just get rid of players that don't buy in. Besides I don't really see many of our squad as bad eggs that wouldn't buy into a new manager. Some of them might not have the skillset/ability but I doubt any of them would just down tools.

And I think we all had a good laugh at the time didn’t we. Cone boy etc etc.

I’d say a young coach with top flight experience at arguably the best club in the world is a little different to a guy who’s almost 60 who never coached in any of Europes top leagues before. You’re right though it was a funny appointment.
I think for Ange to get where he's got as a coach he's had to be a lot better as a coach than Arteta had to be. Arteta got his chances because of his playing career. Would love to see the reaction if Levy appointed Pep's current number 2 to be our number 1

If you’re in the youth setup at Tottenham right now, you’ll be buzzing to have this guy arrive. Let’s hope we see more of ‘our own’ come through into the first team over the coming years.

Come on, they have done numerous times in the past imo.

"Levy is why this position is viewed as a poisoned chalice, although none of this will be lost on Postecoglou, a student of the game and a voracious consumer of football around the world. His agent, London-based Aussie Frank Trimboli, knows Levy well and has been pushing Postecoglou’s case for months behind the scenes."

Interesting as this points towards Ange being on our radar since the start

David Ornstein saying it’s a 4 year deal

Ange Postecoglou has signed a four-year deal to become Tottenham Hotspur’s new head coach.

Postecoglou, 57, joins from Celtic after two years with the Scottish side, with an official announcement of his appointment expected on Tuesday.

The Athletic reported at the weekend that Spurs were close to appointing Postecoglou as their new head coach, with the Australian emerging as the frontrunner for the vacancy last week.

Postecoglou arrives at Tottenham having enjoyed two hugely successful seasons at Celtic. In his debut campaign, he helped the club reclaim the Scottish Premiership title from Rangers and also won the Scottish League Cup. Last season, Postecoglou’s Celtic went one better and completed a domestic treble.

Postecoglou previously managed the Australia men’s team and before joining Celtic, he managed Yokohama F. Marinos — the Japanese side part-owned by the City Football Group.

Tottenham, meanwhile, have been seeking a candidate to instigate cultural change and re-energise the style of play.

Arne Slot was a leading candidate before opting to stay at Feyenoord, while Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso and former Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann were also options.

Antonio Conte left Tottenham by mutual consent in March, which came a few days after he branded his players “selfish” in an explosive rant following a 3-3 draw against Southampton.

His long-time assistant Stellini was appointed as acting head coach but left Spurs less than a month later following a 3-2 home defeat by relegation-threatened Bournemouth and a 6-1 loss against fellow top-four chasers Newcastle United.

Mason took over as acting coach until the end of the season, but won only two of six matches at the helm as the club slumped to an eighth-placed Premier League finish and failed to secure European football for 2023-24.

There is a feeling at the club — perhaps overdue — that they had something special back in the Mauricio Pochettino days, when everyone pulled in the same direction, towards the same shared goals. That is what they want to get back to, a sense of ‘alignment’.

And they know that this has to flow from the manager himself. He has to be someone who can command buy-in from the players and crucially from the fans too. He has to be able to be the articulate authoritative persuasive voice of the whole institution. And on this point, Postecoglou has stood out as the best of all of the candidates by far.

The experience of employing big-name managers has not been a happy one. Both Mourinho and Conte gave the impression that they were taking a step down to manage Spurs.

It has led to tensions with club staff, players and fans. No one wants a repeat of the last four years. That is why Tottenham have been clear in their desire to go in a different direction this summer.

Poch made Kaboul captain first. Don't forget it's not always instantaneous

"I’ve seen him instil work ethics into players I didn’t think they were even capable of."

This line from the above link is interesting and might be why news has come out about about "taking another look" at players like Ndombele.
