Good to see you aren't getting negative reps like i did last week ,can only take it they were from Celtic supporters ,because the football they play is exciting and intense ,want some of that instead of the funereal crap we have witness for 4 years

Plays lovely stuff. I’ve never been too fussed at how big a name our manager is, but can understand reluctance among others.

I also think Enrique would be great, so

“If Pochettino does not return, Tottenham would draw up a shortlist that is likely to include Brighton & Hove Albion’s Roberto De Zerbi, Celtic’s Ange Postecoglou, Lille’s Paulo Fonseca and Sporting’s Rúben Amorim while former Spain and Barcelona boss Luis Enrique would also be interested if approached.”

Basically guess work

I don't really care who the next manger will be.
But, I do care that the club take steps to ensure said manager can be successful.

There needs to be an upfront discussion and agreement with a new manager over the type and caliber of player needed to play that style of football. There needs to be a time-frame committed to achieving that squad.

There is no manager who is going to come in and get this squad playing well - we need changes - both in and out. Fans need to have a bit of patience - but that has to be earned by the club in showing they are committed to taking the right decisions to improve the long-term success of the club.
What does well mean?

A worse version of this squad played great football last season when they had a system that worked. Even with a system that doesn’t they’re only 13 points behind City and we’re about to sack our manager for not being good enough/performing.

I don’t think we’re going to immediately win a title or anything but this is really pessimistic. There’s loads of talent in this squad and a manager who was doing a better job could’ve easily gotten us an extra 7-9 points minimum, which is 4-6 off City.

Get someone who plays a 4231/433 and you need one LCB and one creative midfielder and you’ve already got the shape of a strong squad there. We’ve barely seen what players like Bissouma can offer us, Udogie should come in and be an upgrade on the left (not that that’s saying much).

No news my end currently on AC and a potential departure but I've asked the person who gave me the info on his appointment very early on. The only thing he did say is there are some whispers that Tuchel would be very high up on our list.

Sounds like a Paratici type manager…. More shit football, and managers who won’t even last 2 seasons.

Only thing I can see here is Paratici trying to keep himself in a job, and he won’t be able to work with an attack minded manager.

If Paratici won’t work with a manager who might make the fans proud of the football we play he needs to be binned.

That's not the full list of options though, there's also the possibility that Kane could stay and extend his contract if we get the next appointment right.

That seems unlikely now, but the club has been a fucking shambles with Levy bringing in (yet another) manager who was wholly incompatible with the way the club is run. Things change very rapidly in football, get the next manager right and the situation could be very different.

I'm not convinced that we're in for a long-term rebuild no matter what. Conte's football has been horrible this season, but we've brought in a lot of really good players over the last four windows under Paratici and the squad isn't as desperate as the performances might suggest. We need to shore up three or four areas of the squad -- LCB, keeper, creative AM, and potentially LB depending on how the new manager feels about Udogie and Reguilon -- which should be doable in the summer for a club with our revenues. It's possible we could be back in contention next season.

I'm not exactly brimming with optimism that we will get it right, mind. Levy has woefully mismanaged the football side of the club in recent years. But I don't think it's true that the current squad is unsalvageable in the short- to medium-term.
I think you are both right. I think obviously any new man can be expected to bring more adventure and expression to the play style. But I think in the long term a base has to be established so there’s no more of this chopping and changing. I don’t think short-term success is impossible with the squad if it’s maximized. But the constant evolution and change in football managers and players will be so much easier if there’s a collective agreement on the philosophy and ideas the club is built on. And sustained success is much more probable if there’s harmony from top to bottom to deal with any unexpected issues or adversity that will obviously occur.

I highly doubt that Tuchel would come to us. If I'm right i think he have argued with the board in Dortmund and PSG and he know we have Levy. So I'm sure these two won't be able to work together.

I really hope we get a manager that plays an attractive and also effective football. What's really important in my mind is that Levy and Enic decide which kind of football they want us to play.

Now we have bought players that Jose and Conte want and they might not be the "right" players for our next manager. We really need to find a philosophy and from that philosophy appoint managers and players that would suit that system.

Nor one that wants control/significant input on signings

Id love a young project manager that plays attractive, high energy football. Someone who’s with us for 5+ years and can build something.

The real issue is Levy. He needs to take a backseat from all footballing decisions.

Wasn't Gerrard getting decent football out of Rangers in the SPL? That didn't go too well in England though. Just a bit of a concern for me.
I don't know enough about this fella to have an opinion on him, but wasn't the thing with Gerrard that it turned it his assistant was the brains of the operation?

Do we have anywhere near the technical base in the side to play his style though?

Feel that’s my constant sticking point. We have essentially 3 truly competent technical dribblers and passers - Kane, Bentancur, Romero. Porro, Perisic, Bissouma perhaps also fit the bill.

The entire rest of the squad does not. We have the worst assortment of technical skills and passing acumen in the entire top 10.
We've got Sarr and Winks, too. And Danjuma perhaps? And some of the kids? LoCelso, Gil? We've got technical players, we need a coach that can get a tune out of them.

Its interesting, Luis Enrique is a big name but I wouldn't call him a win now manager.

He isnt like Conte or Mourinho who would come in with this amazing CV and history of winning, I would expect a long term project with him
