It won’t be the Celtic guy. He’s too scruffy for levy. He likes em tight and toasty.

So, to say , 'I dont want Kompany because , if he won something, City will want him' is a bad take and defeatist attitude.

If Kompany does well...means Spurs are doing well. If he does well to the extent that City fans & City management want him...means Spurs are winning something good and making bigger strides..

I will take that now & deal with the speculation later

We are a big club thats in need of trophies. Moment that arrives, we would be in far better position to stop Kompany leaving to keep him more...Or even if he leaves us in a good state, we can always go to the managerial market and get someone of equal standing or better.
Im not sure it’s defeatist. We don’t want a manager who likely has his eye on another job from the start.

Not this again.

Toby wasn’t even here, he signed in 2015. Walker, Rose, Dembele and Jan all had major question marks over them and a lot of fans wanted them sold. Even Eriksen had major doubters and Kane hadn’t even broken through properly.

A new manager coming in to our club this summer has a lot of talent to work. It’s about picking the right coach who will develop players and play an attacking style.

If we can’t have Poch or Nagelsmann, then it seems like:

De Zerbi
Slot
Postecoglu
Kompany

All fit the category of hungry managers who want to develop and prove themselves and play attacking football while developing players.

Not this again.

I think Poch gets a bye onto the shortlist because of his obvious close bond with the club and the feeling he would be happy to sign for a medium term project rather than see us as a stepping stone elsewhere. I've had it with the big name ' it's all about me' managers now and now want one of these hungry up and coming ones who see us as a real step up. To me, Poch is a special case . If not him, I would go for one of the several mentioned on the ' B ' list . I'm prepared for a step back for a couple of seasons to build something solid moving forward. My concern is that I am probably in the minority in that respect and the fans won't buy into it.

Some people couldn't spell Eriksen correctly after seven years of seeing his name on the back of his shirt every week.

There is absolutely no hope for some people and I'm trying (and failing) to make peace with it.
Couldn't be more right Morty.

My personal preferences are Poch, Nagelsmann or De Zerbi. I didnt know who Slot was a week ago and he screams cheap option i.e wont ask for massive funds and will be grateful with what he is given.
I appreciate the clips shared and the football feyenoord play in them but with all due respect it is the dutch league and you can YouTube Jansen and Bergwijn for reasons why success there doesnt translate to the prem.

Kompany would also immediately be right under pressure after a few bad results? Ultimately Slot is much better and proven manager than Kompany
Why would Kompany and company achieve some bad results? I expect an elevation in results. In addition if the team are showing signs of creativity and effort I'll certainly give them time.

Does it really matter Martie? Really? I know who the players are - why does it grind people's gears?

*Doh. Saflopaul beat me to it...

As soon as Nagelsmann became available I thought we need to jump on that straight away, but after a a week to actually think about it, I don't think that's best for us right now.

I'm not sure another hot head "elite" type manager is what we really need and do genuinely think a Slot type manager would be perfect, someone with a good philosophy, can put an arm around the players at the right time and build something with some very good young players mind you, maybe that's what we need right now.

I don't think the top tier managers out there will ever work under Levy, we've tried 2 in a row and both have failed mostly.

We need a new Martin Jol, a new Poch, just someone to come in and at the very least get the fans back singing in our own fucking stadium and making it intimidating again.
Agree dont want him.

The way he dresses like bellend puts me off. Plus hes not 'a manager on the up' hes just been sacked.

Wouldn't we need a new director of football before a manager, seems the wrong way round to appoint a new manager then a dof, could cause problems

Yep just watch the Amazon AON documentary to see how utterly clueless Levy, Donna Cullen and the rest of the board are on the football and PR side, it’s hilarious.

It also means for this manager search that they will chop and change idea’s because they have NO IDEA.

A well run club would’ve had a contingency plan in place for this and acted on it quickly.

See Brighton after Potter for example, straight onto De Zerbi.

Arteta after Mudryk wages were too high, straight onto Trossard.

The way we operate is so reactionary but even when we do react Levy and the board make bad decisions on the football side more often than not, this is a seriously bad combination and is exactly why we are in this perpetual cycle.

But that's how to do the 'Levy' shuffle, do it the wrong way, then blame everyone else

I was deliberately careful with my words to say he did "relatively poorly". I saw a couple of the games and they didn't play with the attacking verve that Burnley are currently. The context you've given is also very valid because Anderlecht have really fallen on hard times and are nowhere near the powerhouse within Belgium that they once were. All that said, imo its under tough conditions that those with real potential shine brightest....
He clearly said from day one that it was a project ("in youth we trust") and that it would take time. He gave lots of youth players their chance in the first team even in the big games against the top teams (I have seen almost all of their games). I must admit that I am a bit surprised that he is doing so well so early with Burnley as he did do some strange things, like substituting his strikers after 60 minutes in every game, winning or losing. I've only seen 1 game of Burnley (against City in the Cup) and I thought they were very impressive in the first half hour. Half of that Burnley team played in Belgium last year so some of the reactions that he is playing with a Premier League team in the Championship are nonsense. For me it shows that he has an excellent eye for the right players for his system and that he is a quick learner. One of the reasons (I would say the most important reason) why he was sacked at Anderlecht was that he became too powerful at the club and certain people didn't like that. Personally I think that he will stay with Burnley and will go to Man City when Pep leaves and make a lot more use of their academy players

You rightly said that Anderlecht is nowhere near the powerhouse that they once were with their excellent youth academy the only thing that is currently still left. They are not even the best club in Brussels anymore since Tony Bloom (Brighton) became the owner of Union Saint-Gilles. Everything what Brighton is doing in the Premier League is Union doing in Belgium. 2 years ago they became champions in the second division, last year they finished second after champions Club Brugge and this year they are again second in the league after Racing Genk. They lost their coach to Anderlecht, lost Mitoma and their top scorer to Brighton, lost Nielsen to Club Brugge but this year they are even stronger. They knocked out Union Berlin in the Europa League and will now play Bayer Leverkusen in the quarter finals. They have one of the smallest budgets but have excellent scouting (thanks to Brighton).
