I am surprised how few people talk about De Zerbi now, considering how at the start of this thread the one of the things putting people off him was that he wouldn’t join until summer yet now that doesn’t matter. There was an Interesting stat on MOTD yesterday that Brighton were the first team to record 2 or more shots by every outfield player in the PL and they also had an XG of 4.5 I think. Obv they still drew which is interesting in itself but all together that is very impressive. Not that I think he should be top choice, but again I just find it interesting how everyone seems so enamoured with Slot.
He's on my list but we have had almost no ITK or media stories on him.

Which suggests he will cost too much to prise away. That or he wants to stay at Brighton and wont talk until summer.

Therefore its pointless going into depth about him

I feel the same regarding Gallardo.

I'd love to go into detail but he doesn't seem to be under consideration

That 13m is essentially what we paid for Rodon and significantly less for what we spent on Spence.

“Penny wise, pound foolish” as my mum would say.
No, I mean he doesnt have a £13m clause. Appears it will be much more.

I think people have been put off by the amount of compo we'd need to pay Brighton to get him, especially when there are so many cheaper options seemingly available.
I like the bloke but just can't see Levy paying large for him when he could go for a cheaper option.
I get what you’re saying but that’s a problem in itself for me. We shouldn’t be going for a manager just because he’s cheap. Fair enough if RDZ, or whoever, doesn’t want to come, which he might not, but a targets price (unless it’s preposterous) shouldn’t dictate who we go for.

I mean we don’t adopt a due diligence approach with players, why start now with managers?

“I’ll have, errr, erm…..that one!”

Arne Slot - worth keeping an eye on his colleagues at Feyernoord ?
technical director at Feyernoord is a guy called Dennis te Kloese. Been in Mexico / MLS. Any1 heard of him ?

His assistant is John de Wolf. I hated him when we played them in 1992.

It isn't the only barometer, however if he he fails to win the league with 7 games to go when his team is 8 points and their toughest game remaining is a Home gave vs 7th place Utrecht, then that is a massive red flag.

Sounds like he'd fit like a glove actually

Very fair point but I thought Scott Minto and Danny Kelly reviewed it well just now. He should have been strong enough to focus on a squad of 15-20 and not tried to keep all happy. He made far too many changes weekly and different formations.

Some of the tactics were criminal. Playing 2 inverted full backs alongside one centre back yesterday was ridiculous.

I agree he had big obstacles in front of him but to have Chelsea in the bottom half, closer to relegation than top 4 is unacceptable.

To add to Potter, I like the guy but said before - At Swansea, Cooper had less resouces and did better. De Zerbi has come in and Brighton are better.

He isnt good enough for Spurs.

I get your points, but Potter is nothing if not a long term project manager. Regardless of performance he just can’t be judged after a few months. Especially at Chelsea after a few months.

towards the end of his time at Brighton I would have gladly seen him at Spurs, and I think he’d still be a great fit here.

I disagree, I think we can do better than Potter.

Tbf both Trix and Herc did say Gallardo was on our list. But yeah I get it. It does seem like all the ITK was pointing to one of ether JN or Slot and now JN is looking very likely out of the equation then one might as well get onboard with Slot. It does feel like there’s an air of inevitability about it at this point. Can’t say I full understand it myself, as said I like the guy but for me it’s too soon for him, but I guess that’s sort of a moot point with the way things seem to be going.

I rate Potter but we wont go near him now as Levy loves optics, Leicester will benefit greatly I suspect

How many times, they know what they’re doing. Simon ****face Jordan explained they need to sell 3 homegrown players at the most to bring in the £140m they need to sort it. Mount, Gallagher and Loftus Cheek alone would raise that. Chuck in Chelaboh and more and it’s solved easily.
140m for Mount, Gallagher and Loftus Cheek?

That would mean clubs are way overpaying for them.

Also, what about incomings? They still need a CF and that's not taking into account flops they may have.

If Nagelsmann would prefer Chelsea then so bloody what.

I want someone who wants us. Who wants to manage Tottenham Hotspur.

The last thing I want is another manager who clearly thinks they are doing us a favour.

Agree matey. I think that was the beauty with Poch and Jol for me is that they did not think that they were above us, unlike the last two managers we had.
