I can’t decide if we should be hoping for Nagelsmann and his undoubted talent as a coach or apprehensive he’s another big name with a big ego and big expectations we won’t match

He’s def one of my top two ideal choices but I do think there are a few big question marks with him. I don’t really have any issues if he wants to hold off until summer before making a decision but if he needs persuading then I think we should move on.

curlacious

Don’t look at me. I’m irrelevant.

He's the top candidate on paper but I don't think paper means anything. My hunch is Slot - or someone like him - is right for us.

Mate, meant with respect; Chelsea’s business since Boehly arrived, has been nothing short of shambolic. Pissing around has been their only clear MO.

Hard to believe, but they make us look like we’ve got a plan.

Transfer kitty aside, I’m not envious in the slightest.
Boehly is the owner equivalent of a Jackson Pollock painting.

It's good to see that the vast majority in here are looking at the next coach with different eyes compared to previous occasions.

Even big names like Luis Enrique are getting turned down by most because they see that we need someone who is gonna be brave, bold and build rather another coach to just come in for a couple of years do ok and then leave

I’m of the opinion that if we wait til the summer for Nagelsmann to make his mind up chances are we get blown out of the water and are left scrambling around again. I want a manager who genuinely wants to be here, not another one who acts like he is doing us a favour. That’s why I’m a full blown Slot slut

Dier speaks Spanish?
Most Portuguese understands Spanish more or less fluently (and most Spanish don´t understand Portuguese). As Dier spent around 10 years in Portugal from the age of 8-9 I wouldn´t be surprised if he understood quite a lot.

Slot actively wants the job so you can pretty much disregard this article.
Rotterdam is an hour away by air.Add another hour or so for to and from airport. There’s managers, and players who live 2 hours+ drive away from the training ground/stadium. He could commute 😀.

Your first part is pretty much proven, while the second part is just conjecture. We'd be barmy not to bring him in, if he's available and willing.

I think the issue here is Levy’s understanding of football matters. I don’t think that Levy thinks we need an overhaul or a project manager and I’m pretty certain he’s not planning on any scenario where we stand still let alone take a small step back to move forward. Levy sees us as now dining (or at least sitting) at the top table. I believe he now thinks his job now is to put the winning manager in post to match the progress off of the pitch. If a top manager is available I think he’ll always go for one. If we end up with a Slot type manager it will be because higher profile names have turned us down. Champions league qualification this year would ensure this trend continues. The question I’m struggling is would I prefer champions league + a big name manager with a 40/60* chance of us competing next year or 1 -3 seasons out of the champions league with a 40/60* chance for said manager being in place long enough to overhaul our squad and compete again domestically. *insert your own Ratios !!
Either way it’s hardly inspiring to renew although of course I will.
