Slot for me.
As for a DoF - Max Huiberts is doing a very very good job over at AZ Alkmaar. Not only are his team in the conference League semi's but their Youth squad is the envy of europe - currently in the UEFA Youth League semi finals.
He also knows Gretar Steinsson.

The only thing preventing us from going double Dutch would be Levy's fear of having to pick up half the tab...
Depends what we're looking for.

They may have liked Paratici because his phone book would have the number of every top agent and club director in the world. I doubt someone in Holland has that.

I'm not saying that would be my priority but with the layers of people here are we sure what being the DOF means at the moment?

This is an almost perfect representation of SlotBall.

Similar to De Zerbi, he invites the press on to his back line in order to create an artificial counter-attack.

Diagonal passes are then played through the lines of defence, as Feyenoord players step forward out of their lines into open space.

This normally leads to a winger in a 1v1 situation near the goal, but also with many Feyenoord players following in from behind play to attack the box.

It massively highlights the importance of a keeper who won't shit the bed under pressure and has good awareness/distribution coupled with a backline constantly moving creating angles to build attacks on.

If we do plump for Slot then it's absolutely necessary to target a new GK and at least one new starting CB.

Nice, but we will need a new goalkeeper and backline for it 😀

I've convinced myself with no real proof that were quietly trying for /waiting to see if Naglesmann will come.

It maybe a case of hoping Chelsea look elsewhere or maybe we think we can convince him. Once that situation is resolved I suspect we either move swiftly for a Slot or maybe a Kompany but if the pressure is up I could see Levy going for Poch.

Getting Poch back gives the club a very easy PR win and would immediately bring the heat way down on the board.

Personally I really really think Naglesmann is the perfect fit for us and I genuinely believe we suit him far better than the chavs. I know he has friends there and they have been spending money like it's going out of fashion but they have an insane squad that is going to take a massive sort out and they desperately need to sell in a market that as we have found out has no money.

Then again we might put it all on hold to get a new DOF...

Well I do favour a plump slot.....

We need a new GK and CB in any case.

The start of that Feyenoord build up isn't very far away from de Gea and Maguire's mess for United yesterday, as people say very depending on having the right players for it.
I assume the central defender for a Dutch team probably played a lot of his youth as a midfielder. Our squad need to be looked at whoever we hire.

The more videos like this I watch the more I wonder how we've managed to assemble a team with fewer technical players than a club like Feyenoord.

Is it just poor technical players or poor coaching?

When you see a Feyernord or Brighton build up they always seem to have numerous options for every pass. We don't.

It's all very well wanting to build up from the back but that means having ways to create space and different angles for passes, I'm not sure we do that very well.

Excellent interview, thank you for posting that. You could pull numerous quotes from that. He's such a perfect fit for the job. Clearly a very intelligent man who understands the game and its nuances. I know it’s unlikely but I'm really hoping he comes back into play, if we wanted to build a new project he is the one we should be going for.

You have to remember that in that clip Roma have vacated the entire middle of the pitch, if you watch the game it was a rare occurrence, Feyernoord on the whole had a lot less space to play with and struggled because of it. Matic was used excellently by Jose and completely shut down the middle passing lanes causing a lot of turn overs in the middle of the pitch. Credit to Jose for realising their passing patterns and adjusted to nullify their build up.

Do wonder now if we see things pick up steam as we're not waiting on that decision anymore. Probably means no Enrique at least.

100% agree.

For similar reasons, I wouldn't be surprised if United's all-round game improves notably once they replace De Gea and bring in a keeper who isn't total dog shit with his feet.

Probably a bit of both to be honest. For example, I think it's fair to say Lloris and Sanchez can't build up from the back because we've seen them struggle to do it their entire careers here, including under Poch. I would say the same of Davies, Sessegnon and to an extent Emerson. Some of these players can absolutely be coached more effectively (Romero, Porro, maybe even Reguilon) but there are plenty I feel comfortable in ruling out.

I think the issue from my perspective is that a lot of our deficiencies exist in very specific positions on the pitch. I think we need an entirely new back line for this style of play but I think from the midfield onwards we're probably ok (the lack of a proper number 10 aside). It can be fixed with good recruitment but part of the reason we're as bad as we are is due to years upon years of crap recruitment, so whether we fix it or not is the million dollar question.

Thing is I don't think we have 'fewer technical players' than Feyenoord. They just haven't been asked to play football that encourages them to use their technical abilities.
