You don’t want to argue but you want to make statements which just aren’t true, as anyone who knows about Slot’s system appreciates.

What statement have I made? I simply expressed my opinion. Im in no way slating Slot, my point is that knowing spurs. We won't back him, we'll leave him with no FBs and then sack him, when it's the club who's at fault.
I like the thought of Slot, he was my first choice after Naglesmann. Im just not letting my heart rule my head, history has taught me this.

If Romano’s latest is actually up to date I honestly take it as a positive that we are focusing on getting a DoF first. I know we are all desperate to have a manager in place but i really do feel a DoF should be the priority.

I'm not an expert on any of the managers left in play, but as long as they bring sexy football and unity to Spurs as a club, from top to bottom, I'd be delighted.
Postecoglou and slot both look like positive fatherly types that fit this bill, and both are in the ascendency in their careers without having been at a bigger club than spurs.
No one will play sexier football than our dirty little Slot :sneaky:

Actually very excited about the prospect of Slot now. Personally I hope it happens and does so as soon as possible

I liked our first bald Dutchman. I reckon I could like this bald Dutchman too.

They'll likely get slot but this idea that because a couple of big name coaches didn't work out we shouldn't get one in the future is nonsense and typical of spurs who are always reactive to the last appointments.

I think the fact that Mourinho has just got to two finals back to back should make us more reflective on the club as a whole. Kind of sick of each manager that has left being the bad guy

The manager is not the remedy to deeper issues at the club. But we've seen some managers can mostly override those issues, and some managers can exacerbate them. What separates these managers is open to debate - I'm not sure it's as simple as big name vs small name.

Romano saying slot almorim or Ange….. could not be more underwhelmed. It really is the end isn’t it 🙈 mid table
Now that Paratici is gone I don't put a lot of stock in Romano/DiMarzio/any italian links anymore. It's clear that was all coming from FP and I doubt any of them are getting direct information.

Most people looking at our situation can make a pretty educated guess who we're looking at.

For those who have watched Feyenoord regularly, how does Slot set up his teams defensively?

Whereas I love the concept of an attacking front foot approch, how does Slot manage the risk of being punished on the counter (which is much greater in the PL)?

I actually really like slot from what I’ve read his our guy

However he needs backing, time and a defence
He'll get patience from me. As long as I see a plan, and an attempt to play front foot football.

When I look at the sackings of the last few manager, I personally think Levy was late welding the axe for some. Poch imo late * (should have been Brighton), Mourinho late (Zagreb - and no, he wasnt winning that bloody final), Nuno was about right granted.

Conte really should have gone in January.

If Slot comes in he'll get my patience. Even if we are on course for finishing mid table.

I'm certainly not expecting CL football qualification next season.

* Backing Poch is a separate conversation.

And to clarify, in no way blame the managers for their sackings.

We know where the fault lies.

So from a combination of the games I’ve watched and research I’ve done, it’s:

High line, intense counter pressing when the ball is lost. I think it’s generally a 2-3 rest defence with the 2 CBs and then either 2 FBs either side of a CM or 1 FB next to 2 x CMs. The counter pressing really is intense.

When they are defending generally a 442 structure with the CAM pushing up to press with the ST.

He also adapts the press, in some games it may be super high, in other games he may drop it to more of a mid block press depending on who the opponent is.

Thank you for this really insightful post. I particularly like the final point - it seems to me that modern football can be far too strict and rigjd with its 'philisophy' approach, so it's good slot recognises that with how he presses. We need more flexibility within an established system to be successful IMO.

Slot passes the all important “blue and white army” test as well. Can’t believe all of you are forgetting that.

I hate love to be a pedant on this matter of great importance, but surely the “Blue and white/Lilywhite Army” test requires a four syllable name to scan properly: “Po-che-tti-no’s”, “Ha-rry-Red-knapp’s”, “Ry-an-Ma-son’s” :cautious: etc? What Slot does pass with flying colours though, is the “Feeling hot, hot, hot” test (y)

If you've ever been in a sweaty Park Lane then the pace and syllable number of Harry Redknapp or Pochettino was too much for many a person after a couple of renditions - and you'd get the splintering effect, i.e. some singing the name, some singing the "blue and white army" bit. Slot provides the opportunity for everyone to sing the whole thing and therefore increasing the volume of said chant. Three syllable dream.

Thank you for your comments, they are duly noted but disregarded at this time. Best, Stoofio X
