Again it's not the same as other professions. If they are in demand and don't feel really wanted from the off they go elsewhere. It has to be we need him more than he needs us, otherwise we are not getting the best candidate.

Also wouldn’t we have done scouting to work out who is best fit, their work is watched by millions every week and thus this should be more of a headhunting process.

Interview gives me the impression Levy wants to be impressed by PowerPoint presentations. I mean if Slot ticks every box but doesn’t dazzle in the interview as much as someone else we could hire the wrong manager. I hope when they say interview they just mean chat to work out if it’s possible and to convince the best target to come.

I hate love to be a pedant on this matter of great importance, but surely the “Blue and white/Lilywhite Army” test requires a four syllable name to scan properly: “Po-che-tti-no’s”, “Ha-rry-Red-knapp’s”, “Ry-an-Ma-son’s” :cautious: etc? What Slot does pass with flying colours though, is the “Feeling hot, hot, hot” test (y)
Three better than 4 here imo. I'm old enough to remember Burkinshaw's Blue and White Army and 3 fit perfectly!

Yeah I see your point mate.

But what if we appoint Slot and Levy doesn’t sufficiently back him in the transfer market and we have to use players like Dier/Porro/Udogie in a back 4 system. It would be an absolute disaster.

Slot will be sacked by Christmas.
I think Slot could work out a way of playing and we’d only need to make 4-5 signings, nothing too crazy.

Some of the options will soon tell Levy to F off if he doesn't make his mind up very soon.
At the same time, does it make sense to put all your eggs in one basket? If Slot had a change of heart and decided to lead Feyenoord to the CL we’d look pretty stupid.

My impression of Slot is that he's a top coach who has taken a bunch of ordinary players and turned them into Dutch champions. He's got them playing fluid, aggressive football. He also seems able to change things up on the fly and prepares differently according to his opponents. Those are huge plus points for me and take us far, far away from the passive, intransigent, formula driven football we've had for the past few years. I'm all in on the Slot train.

I’d argue that’s not true, ‘we needed Conte more than he needed us’ and he acted like he was doing us a favour the whole time.

The Tottenham job, financially and managing in the most lucrative league in the world would be a huge opportunity for a Slot or Amorim or big Ange etc, it’s fine to spin a few plates at the same time as long as we pull the trigger on the correct option without pissing that option off.

I don’t care how the process happens as long as the outcome is correct and that outcome should be Arne Slot at this point given the final candidates.

I feel like before everyone had gotten used to the idea of Arne Slot, Ruben Amorim was very highly thought of on here? Pretty sure a lot were clamouring for him to be our next manager. Perhaps not in the last month or so, but there was definitely a time where a large collective wanted him. Could have been during one of our many other manager searches, though...

It seems Slot is very keen on moving to the PL.

Obviously I am not privy to the discussions, but I find it hard to believe that if we go all out for him and don’t mess around he would turn us down

£20M to get Amorim isn't it?

Have to agree that a 343 clone will be pretty depressing for the players (and us). The ol Pep 325 Nagelsmann / Slot vibe is what we need.

I don’t think he’s ever been a hugely popular option but most agree and previously agreed that he does seem like a good young coach and would fit our squad well, however the n.o1 preferences have been Naglesman and Poch, now those two are off the able the next nearest option in style of play that we are said to be talking to is Slot.

So if the question was ‘is Amorim a good coach and good option for us’ the answer would probably be yes.

If the question was ‘Is Amorim the best option for us in terms of style of play and galvanising and revitalising the players and fans especially compared to say Slot and Big Ange’ the answer is very much imo no.
