of course its relevant however the pure fact he won the dutch league doesnt put him over managers that havent won a league.
No it doesn't, but this all started because a posted said De Zerbi had a better pedigree. I was just pointing out De Zerbi has won nothing of note and has less than a season in the Prem. So what pedigree? If someone thinks he's a better fit that's fine, but the fact is there is no real substance behind it, and it's purely opinion based on gut instinct.

How do we not allow it? Sorry but if we couldn't change for Conte or Jose it will not happen.
This is why I don't understand the "we need a manager who will force Levy to act" crowd.

Levy is gonna Levy.

If you like Nagelsmann because you think he is a better manager - great. I voted for him too. But, if you like Nagelsmann because you think this is Levy's final chance... well, that not a very convincing argument given our recent history. We all know how that ends.

We spent about £300m on payers under Conte.

Romero, Bentancur, Bissouma, Porro, Kulusevski, Richarlison all brought in.

In fairness to Conte, I don't remember him once complaining about not being backed.

I have to say, I'm impressed at people's ability to speak with such certainty on what is the right or wrong decision after all we've seen the last few years. Discussion is great but surely we've all realised to leave some wiggle room in our statements.

more than happy to give slot a chance - however, yeah, im very concerned about the fact hes only done it over there, coming to the premier league is totally different prospect, making the europa league in the PL is probably harder than winning the dutch league with one of their top teams.
Yeah, I understand that but I think it's kinda balanced out by his job before Feyenoord and that even what he's done at Feyenoord has been despite the fact he had many of his best players sold.
I think that shows his coaching ability and his willingness and ability to improve young players is something I'm totally on board with.

One of my major desires for a new manager is that they'll start to show our academy players a route to the first team because we've got some mighty fine talent down there.
For too long we've let our academy go to seed and Paratici started to make to good improvements to the set up.
I'd like to see that continue.

Exactly.

Im not making any future estimations of how a coach will do.

I got excited when we appointed Conte. Not so much because of Conte and potentially winning but because if you appoint Conte then you have to seriously back and have a go.

That never really happened so I'm lowering my expectations

I wish I knew. The only hope I have is that Vivienne is putting pressure on from inside the nest, we get in a DoF that’s previously worked with Nagelsmann and Levy is moved aside. Probably wishful thinking though.
Even if we do change our ways I think its best to wait until that actually happens before going for a manager like Nagelsmann. Look at Newcastle under Howe, someone who has never managed a top club but hired by their wealthy owners. Even City had Hughes for a while early on. Yet we still have the same owner and want a big name. I think if we get a dof alongside Slot and try and change our ways under those guys we can allow time for it to develop. Then if the squad does get elevated to a higher level see if Slot elevates with them. If not then go for a top manager instead.

Everything I've heard and read about Slot seems to paint him as one of the top young managers around.
Good philosophy, players seem to love him, ex-pros seem to rate him and there appears to be plenty of potential there.

Yes it'll be a gamble but any managerial appointment is a gamble, no matter who they are or where they've come from.

What do you see in Slot that you don't like? Is it just because he's only managed in the Eredivisie?
A gamble? So you’re saying it’s a Slottery?

I was delighted when we signed Jose and Conte. Thought it represented a change in philosophy to go all in/push the boat out. Because both managers would need new players to implement their systems and do what they do best... Win.

Can't believe I thought that was feasible. Why, even for a second, I felt that they'd 'truly' be supported. I also didn't pay close enough attention to their style and approach to the game. Didn't realize that they both essentially set up to NOT LOSE.

Historically, what I now understand is a pattern is the following: We can only put our foot on the road to competitiveness when we bring in a coach who combines four distinct characteristics: 1) Preference is to play attacking football. Let the players express themselves. 2) Has the ability to unify a squad behind a common cause. And calibrates their approach toward individual players to encourage the best out of them. 3) Is open to working within certain financial constraints deployed by Danny. 4) Puts team before their ego.

Taking the last 20 years into account:

Jol. Rednapp. Poch. All fit the above criteria to some extent or the other.
Santini, Ramos, AVB, Jose, Nuno, Conte, did not.

Doesn't take a math whiz to spot the common pattern.

Hence, Slot is THE best option, above Nagelsman, as at least two of the above criteria he may struggle with: (Financial constraints and Ego over team.)

This whole site is becoming more embarrassing by the day. Constant anger about anything and everything. Constant pointless arguments that go round and round in circles.

We are not getting De Zerbi. I don't care about him or Brighton. He hasn't even had a full season there. Let's see how he does with Europe eh? Slot won his league. Yes it was the Dutch league, but it is still a ****ing league. Slot is by all accounts the frontrunner. Every single god damn hire is a risk. Conte was a risk. Mourinho was a risk. Poch was a risk. Slot will be a risk.

Whoever we end up with needs to be backed by the fans from day one.

People keep saying Levy can't or won't change yet won't give Munn a chance to do his job?

It's not hard to just sit back and see how the next few months and season goes.

Ps bringing Nickelback into it. Lol. Talk about jumping on bandwagons. But that is for another thread entirely.

RDZ has 4 seasons in Europe’s top 5 leagues with a track record of improving said teams. Sassuolo and Brighton. Slot has zero in top 5 leagues. This means he has a greater pedigree. I’m not sure how this is such a controversial point.
