Honestly... I'm freaking drained 😕😕 ... just get something done. I'm tired of considering, preparing, thinking. I have no more enthusiasm left for this manager search. Again !

The fact that Slot has come out and spoke to the press must mean that decision is absolutely final - and we haven't even tried to negotiate it. Or we are days behind what's going on, which seems less likely as the summit was yesterday,

There were some reports that the meeting yesterday was only to negotiate his new contract with Feyenoord. So this could have actually fallen over at the end of last week or over the weekend.

It's pretty obvious Slot wanting to come but the deal fell over because Levy didn't want to pay the compensation. I'm not sure how it couldn't be any clearer from what we've been told and what we know Levy is like. It is all too obvious what has happened.
I honestly don’t think it’s about compo - levy has always paid top dollar for management - I don’t think he’s prepared to allow ‘slot’ to have his own way on the playing side. Selling and buying players - previous managers have said it constantly - levy is too involved

We are seemingly the only PL club that makes an almighty hash of appointing a manager over and over again. The longer and bumpier the process the more pressure there is on the eventual appointment. This chase is already a circus and the season isn’t even over yet.

Ramos, Jose and Conte all cost big.

Edit: Poch's 2nd contract was £8.5m a year. We also regularly fire managers, which also costs money.

But if people want to believe we're not getting Slot on an assumption, then knock yourselves out.
That's wages.
Seperate budgets and spread cost over periods of time.

Comp to buy out managers is up front and then on top you would have Arne's wages.
THis is exactzly the reason, because if it isn't, then we are grossly incompetent at dilligence and have spent the better part of months in discussions as an elaborate way for Arne Slot to negoziate a new contract?

I mean, I am not saying I am right, but you haven't offered up an alternative.

Doesn’t seem to have been talked about much but WLB indicated that the visions didn’t align. Slot’s plan was to sell Kane & Son and use the money to rebuild. Levy didn’t agree…. end.

Personally I agree with Slot. I think Levy has missed an opportunity to get someone who would finally do the rebuild we’ve needed for quite a while.

If the reason we are not getting Slot is really because of a buy-out clause then this stinks that we are going to end up with one of Rogers/Potter/Mason.

My pick from the start has been Ange - he would just be perfect for our current predicament. High octane, attacking 4-3-3 football and his teams tend to transform into this very quickly. He is just a genuinely great guy as well and would bring about an air of positivity and feel-good factor we have been missing for years.

"I want our supporters dreaming of big games and big wins and winning things. Thats the role of us as a football club. I'm sure they get enough of their bubble burst in their normal lives on a daily basis it doesnt need me to bring them down and tell them dont be too excited tomorrow." This sort of guy I want in charge of Spurs after a string of managers who constantly wanted to burst any fan optimism at the first opportunity.

Is that the order they are employed in this season?
Start with Rodgers
Sack him in October and appoint Potter in November.
Sack Potter in March and let Mason see the season out again

I know that the media are stating we wouldn't pay the compo so Slot is going to stay at Feyenoord but personally I wouldnt be surprised if it actually came down to Slot just saying enough is enough, you have known what I want and still you're dicking around talking to other managers.

Everything and everyone has their price. There are also a whole load of very recent contradictory 'quotes' from Slot. It's par for the course for any negotiations with Levy to go through many ups and downs. My feeling is though that he's fucked this one up (again). There are still some good options out there though, but they'll all be having second thoughts now. How many chances does Levy expect to get one thing right?

The more I think about this, the dumber we look. If you have identified Slot as your top choice - you reach a negotiated settlement. Yes it will be higher than you wanted, but you get the manager you wanted.

If you did not really want Slot, then why the hell are you talking compensation with Feyenoord?

The incompetence is staggering.

There was a story at the beginning, from one journalist and it came across as his opinion, that he wanted to stay with his kids as they were starting schools in the area.

He might not think the job at Feyenoord is done yet. He might think if he builds his career further, he'll get a genuine top job.

There are loads of reasons why he might not want to join us. It's weird that anyone thinks it must be a compensation issue.

I don't understand why so many fans don't want to admit that they don't know something that they can't possibly know.

Two months without a manager, and we are still talking to managers that we are not “convinced” about? Maybe we should start getting serious about this search…
In relation to the cost that is. Like I think we would have been happy with Slot just not for the cost they wanted. It's stupid we didn't find that cost out a lot sooner though.

He pays managers well but he has never paid a big compensation fee to get a manager. Especially not one that size. It is crazy because the wages for Slot would probably be less than we paid Conte, so surely over the course of the contract the compensation fee evens it's self out.

It is about Levy not wanting to negotiate the compo. Has to be.

That's pretty wild tbf. It might be what we need in the long term but it would be an awful lot of faith to put in a manager who for all we know could be an absolute flop in the premier league.

If he is not first choice, why are we talking compensation?

If he was first choice why are we not paying compensation?
