I think there’s more to the negativity than that. I think it’s very clear we are on to our third candidate by now and that in itself is hardly inspiring.

I think if we had decided on Amorim or Postecoglou from the outset fans would be more inclined to look favourable upon them.

Furthermore whilst I agree they shouldn’t be dismissed as much as they currently are personally im not as wild about them as I am to those previously linked.

Amorim whilst high pressing and being much more attacking then Conte is still a pragmatic manager. Personally at this point I feel we need a complete change and even if he isn’t the same as Conte he is still has a balanced philosophy rather than an attacking one.

Postecoglou on the other hand does have a philosophy that’s more in line with what we should be going for but his age and experience does raise a few questions.

One should also mention Enrique as well who has also been heavily looked down upon. Considering he has been on our list from the start, even if he is currently being linked to Napoli and PSG, he isn’t any worse an option at this point.

I think most fans will eventually come round to the idea of one of the above once Slot isn’t so fresh. We as Spurs fans are nothing if not resilient but in moments like this it’s hard to see anything positive. Really I think most know now that it won’t even matter who we bring in as Levy clearly has no intention of changing.

I’m also sure once the glowing reports of the aforementioned managers start making their way onto this thread fans will view them much more positively. Negativity is rife at the moment and it’s not surprising that is spilling over to the other candidates. For me personally, whilst I could get behind all three of those managers, knowing Nagelsmann and Gallardo are both sat there and available just taints the entire process as to me they are a few levels above all of them.

Can't argue with that

I've not been able to follow this thread, is there a consensus forming as to what caused the deal to collapse? If it was really down to Levy's unwillingness to pay a few million in compensation to Feyenoord, it's a fucking farce.
sounds like Feyenoord held fast on their "he is under contract and if you want him you will pay" stance and we balked.

It’s staggering we can’t tempt a manager from the Dutch league with our resources. Wasn’t he ready to quit for Leeds 5 months ago
If he does not want to come then what can you do about it.
I do not belive he was ready to quit for Leeds.

Bless all the folk mentioning Gallardo still, I honestly and genuinely don’t think Levy has any idea who Gallardo is, or that he even exists.
I guess the hope is that we get a DOF who comes in and takes the list off Levy, throws it in the fire, then goes and gets Gallardo

Been on the fence about renewing my ST, waiting until the last day to decide whether it's worth it anymore.

Well, decision made.

If you don't renew someone else will get a chance maybe...so there is a positive in everything!

Who ever the DOF is, I'm very sure they have to have everything signed off by Levy
List or no list, Levy gets his way

I like Gallardo, I think he is a very good manager, but expecting him to adapt to football on a new continent, in a new language, in addition to sorting out our complete dumpster fire at the same time might be a bridge too far. When Gallardo moves it should be to a club that have the pieces around him to help him adapt and succeed. And frankly I suspect he understands that and wouldn’t waste a lot of time on our proposal anyway.

If I was allowed to share what I've been told, I would. Slot was #1 choice and we believed/were led to believe it would happen. Then things changed. There are many possible reasons for this, most of which have been postulated in this thread, but I can't say which one is accurate. What I can share is that if either side claims there weren't conversations between club reps and Slot's reps, they are

Imagine putting out to the media the importance and understanding the weight of “getting this right” and then doing… this. Fuck everyone at the club at the top. They should not be trusted with literally anything at this point.

The fall from optimism to bleak reality is really fecking horrible. One imagines that the lack of news since this morning is because this has caught the powers that be cold as well and they are back to the very strange, disorganised drawing board.

Anyone else just feel totally embarrassed time and time again supporting this Club?

Just a few days ago I brought up the subject of Slot amongst colleagues. I felt very humble explaining that this manager that none of them had ever heard of had 'a good reputation' in Holland. That we were giving a chance to a up and coming coach.

Then the news today.....

If we didnt have the resources we have and were a smaller Club it wouldnt be as bad but fuck me it's just getting ridiculous now.

I have a feeling our lack of European football next season may have been a deciding factor.Slot probably didn’t like that and decided another year at Feyenoord with CL football wouldn’t do his prospects any harm. That’s down to Levy sacking Conte with us in 4th place with no ready made replacement ready to step in and not ensuring Slot would come with or without European Football.
I'm sure that there are better threads for this, like the Hitman thread, or This Thread is Useless without pictures, but can we still make the conference league?
