Celtic managers' win percentage

Martin O’Neill - 75.53
Ange Postecoglou - 72.97
Neil Lennon - 70.04
Brendan Rodgers - 69.82
Gordon Strachan - 65.02
Ronny Deila - 63.56
Tony Mowbray - 51.11
Win % stats is an incredibly narrow view and lens to judge a manager.

Is Tim Sherwood our best ever Manager then?

Yeah don't get me wrong. I'm more thinking aloud than being pro/against any manager. I'd love a punt on Ange to be honest. When Potter went into Brighton everyone was saying "Why have Brighton hired a farmer for their manager?", when Poch went to Southampton everyone was like "Who?". I guess I'm just mulling over the pros and cons of picking managers either based on their history or on their most recent season.

If we are moving to a data led model then surely Potter or Frank should be top of the list as they have proved to work well with that.
Not Frank for me.

I'd take Potter, he is flexible tactically, a nice guy and plays good football.

Take the Chelsea disaster out and most would be over the moon with him.

they play rangers 4 times a year, they play absolute sloshers every other week.
Frankly having a 70% win ratio for Celtic or Rangers should be par. It’s practically an amateur league and outside the two Glasgow clubs I doubt even an handful would be much higher in the pyramid than league two.

Meh, it's all pretty irrelevant, no matter who gets the job we will be here again in 18 months or so in the exact same position, as long as the board and Levy keep interfering and history indicates this does not change.
Do not get the disrespect for Ange, Celtic play good football to watch, with limited resources, beat all in front of them in Scotland, not dissimilar to what Slot done in another lower tier league in Holland. Yes both lack relative experience at big clubs, but so did Wenger when coming to the Scum.
Unfortunately , years of being a mess is now coming back to haunt us, we are a managerial graveyard, where even the so called cream of the crop fail, we are beggars now not choosers and nothing will change until we decide to back the right manager properly, the chances of that happening under Levy and the rest of the buffoons is next to zero.

let’s face it, it’s a cheap way of doing one aspect of due d- put name x out there and with our wide range of viewpoints they’d soon find out what skeletons are in the closet. See Gattuso.

Positives about Ange (given the current situation):
1) Plays attractive football, wants to attack, fans should like the style
2) Has a "warm" personality (similar to Slot), fans should take to him quickly
3) Age (this would have been a negative originally) - SHOULD be more comfortable in himself and able to handle this circus
4) Age again - less likely to care about this being a managerial graveyard because he doesn't have a long career ahead of him.
5) Age again - less likely to be looked at as a stepping stone
6) Rolling annual contract so probably no buyout.

Can we seriously start AFC Tottenham please?

edit: I’m not actually joking. I think this might be the only way we can start again and lower league football just seems so much more enjoyable.

Webb going on radio stating how levy pulled out of deals, Ramon Vega saying agents talking about not wanting to work with spurs, Mourinho calling us the MrLevy club. Spurs looking pretty toxic out there at moment.
Not surprised the club has a toxic reputation with all the negative media reports we get and also from some of own media supporters. Why isn't there the same outrage in the media with Chelsea's dreadful season?

I taught the whole thinking was a young up and coming project manager and now apparently its a 58 year old manager of Celtic, Nagelsmann LEVY Nagelsmann do your bloody job and go get him. You are running a €500m a year football club, business or whatever you want to call it, start leading it and hire the best available for the positions you have a available. Give them the tools to make them a success in the role and in turn build your club, business..............feck me how difficult is that to do. Stop pissing about and get this sorted.

Great point’s although I’d say we still need to take account for the managers personality and style of play but tottally agree it doesn’t have to be a big name with previous success.

Wenger came to Arsenal and no one had heard of him.

Poch to Southampton

Potter & De Zerbi to Brighton etc

I think Fonseca could’ve been a good fit for us tbh so it’s a shame in 2021 Paratici put a stop to that when that was 99% done.

Tbh there are pros and cons to so many managers the issue here is just a complete lack of footballing philosophy and vision and plan from the board so they don’t commit to one or two names who are clearly a good fit.

Yet Levy will be sitting in his office thinking, “It’s all of them that’s wrong, not me.” Now, maybe that’s the mindset you have to have in order to one day become a billionaire, but it also leads to massive problems if you start getting out of touch with reality and don’t have enough people around you to tell you the harsh truths.

Sorry man, but this is what I mean. Potter did well at Brighton but his successor did way better. Can’t judge him on Chelsea who are a disgrace, but beyond that what has he done that Ange hasn’t?

Football exists beyond the PL and some guy who unexpectedly does well in Europe. Where did Son come from?

There’s talent out there that we’re missing by narrowing our view down our own driveway.

I wonder how that will effect this manager search, maybe this is why analysis paralysis is setting in with levy again because they really want to get this one right but at the same time Levy is scared to commit and his view doest align with many targets.

There is absolutely no way he and the board can ignore the noise right now so not surprising if they are now looking at fan reactions to certain names given the recent failure to land Slot.

We went down the "serial winner" route with Mourinho and Conte and it was pretty miserable. Didn't win anything and for the most part played in a very turgid manner. Their personalities also were grating as if they were doing us a favour being here. I have doubts over Postecoglu based on the fact that another manager who is dismissed by the fan base achieved the exact same things at Celtic and has a better CV elsewhere in Rodgers. It's hard to square the excitement for one and the derision to the other.

But maybe after having the glamourous names of our last two managers it may be best to take a step back and go for the guy for whom managing Spurs would be the pinnacle of his long career. There's a frankness in the way Postecoglu speaks but also a sense of humility that he has earned everything he got in spite of the snobbery he received in joining Celtic and he'd face the same doubts here but could prove everyone wrong.
