It’s cute how some are getting excited by potential line ups, YouTube and tactics under “manager x” , and still seem blind to the environment that manager will have to work in.

It’s practically irrelevant which manager we get, as the last 20 years have shown.

Don’t do it to yourself.
you're not being fair here. This is the first time in 14 years that we have not qualified for Europe that's not a bad record and we've seen some very attractive football in the Jol. Redknapp and Poch seasons. Yes, the last two seasons have been pretty dire but we've got some really good players and with the right manager and some new players we will be fine again.

I remember thinking during Poch's era as we dismantled Madrid that "this is exactly like David Pleat's season".

I know Levy's the devil and no positivity is allowed but I still intend to watch us next season and controversially, I would like that experience to be as enjoyable as possible.

Such sane and rational thinking won’t go down well. Doesn’t really fit the doomsday rhetoric. Good post though.

Yes the last 20 years where we have always been in Europe of some kind for the majority, we have reached countless semis and finals, finished 2nd and top 4 multiple times.

Yeah it's practically irrelevant isn't it?

fortunately yes but only after he made his position untenable - but the real mistake was hiring him
OK but levy has had how long to sort out a manager? There was an opportunity for someone to fight for CL but no he fucked it again and we end 8th. Conte started it yes but the season was salvageable still.

Reading some of the comments re Slot, he actually preferred to stay where he was, with a winning team and CL qualification. Not Levy’s fault!
Now to Postecoglu - he also manages a successful team who have qualified for CL, so again why would he want the pressure of Spurs?
We need an up and coming like Poch was, a manager with a good grounding who looks at us as a step up and not a step down. I have no idea who that is. We just have to hope that Levy and Munn know more than me and have some names who think managing Spurs is something they actually want to do, and not just a quick pay day as they’ll get sacked in 3-6 months🥺

If Slot really was our top choice, then it might come back to haunt us that we decided he wasn’t worth paying the compensation for in a few years’ time.

But that's a debate for another thread.....

I don't think there is anyone who will be just looking for a quick pay day and to get sacked in 3-6 months. We'll never know the complete truth about Slot - could have been one factor, could have been several. Ange hasn't dismissed the idea - his comments are ambiguous like Slot's were. It might not be him either - maybe Levy has a candidate in mind that we haven't thought of. Doubtful but you never know.

Like with ten haag?
I haven't actually been impressed with Ten Haag. His football seems uninspiring, and if it wasn't for some special players doing special things, and other teams dropping off a cliff, I don't think United would have been near top 4.
We shall see how next season goes but for right now I'm happy we didn't hire him.

My current inclination is to disagree with you.

You got some statistical evidence to back that up?

Nagelsmann ticks all the boxes, is a high profile enough name that you could use his appointment to try and keep Harry and is an elite young coach, it beggers belief that we would not throw everything at him.

This is the second time i thought the board were being incompetent, like they were with the last manager search, it is madness.

My nephew works at a private airport in London and he told me a few days ago that Tuchel flew in. He also spoke to Kane’s camp on the phone whilst waiting for a driver.

Im not claiming this to be ITK, and i had assumed if true this would be more about him trying to tempt Kane to Munich. However, in light of the news this morning…. 👀
