Honestly, I think Danny boy sits in his Ivory Tower (with no furniture) and is actually perplexed by the whirlwind around him. I am sure he thinks its everyone's else's fault.

No way Galtier with the stuff hanging over him

Out of that lot Potter would be my first choice by a mile.
I agree....I think he is a little underrated on here as a manager given the Chelsea stint.

He's not quite what we need but I do like him and it could work out. He's the name on the list I think could surprise us. The rest I would be confident would not work.

Here's a quote from Potter: "I want a tactically flexible, attacking, possession-based team. Players that are brave, that aren't afraid to make mistakes. That can get on the ball and show courage and really try to enjoy their football. If the players are enjoying their football, there's a chance that the supporters will enjoy it as well. That's how you grow and develop as a club. Styles of play don't make you win games. The challenge is having players believe in it and how it works."

He also has a history of building a culture within a club as he did in Sweden and at Brighton.

If we can't get Nagelsmann or Gallardo or even Ange then Mason would probably be the most likely to convince Kane to sign a new contract
I don't see him signing a new contract until he see's how we are progressing under him regardless of who the manager is.

I think Kane said early (in his career) that as long as we were moving in the right direction he would stay, I just dont know if that's enough anymore.

If it were me now I'd be looking to give him a much improved deal that gives him a realistic get out every Summer if certain criteria are met.

Behind the scenes he wanted more and more control of recruitment, like he did at Liverpool and he completely sucks at it. Several highly rated staff ended up leaving and their squadbuilding went to shit the longer he was there.

Add to that he lost the plot tactically and lost the players. He doesn't have the personality needed to unite us either.

Honestly he'd be a disaster just from the fact he wants control of recruitment and is awful at it, let alone his other baggage.

It's the reason clubs he is with collapse.
I don't really get the Rodgers hate, apart from the fact he appears a bit of a cock (that doc and speech with the envelope did him no favours!).

Looking objectively at his record, he's done reasonably well.

It might be the Stockholm Syndrome kicking in, but to me he would be a similar appointment to Redknapp. I was underwhelmed by Redknapp and proved completely wrong.

I think we could do a lot worse than Rodgers, for the record I think we could do a lot better - but sometimes, as with Redknapp things just click.

It would be a disappointing appointment for sure, but I'm not convinced it would be disastrous

I don't want a manager that has done reasonably well. We need a manager that does more than that. I'd rather gamble on a young manager that may go on to achieve more, than accept mediocrity.

Potter over Ange for me.

I’m really not getting excited about Ange at all.
I honestly don’t feel Potter has the required charisma needed to galvanise this team.
And who knows where his head is at after what happened at Chelsea.

Aside from that, I don’t think anyone can deny the optics wouldn’t be great ether.

I don't think any kind of charisma will get a tune out of this lot. I don't think being charismatic is all that. Being capable of changing the players mindset is more important and I honestly think if Potter is given enough time he can do that.

No Luis, it’s ok mate. You go to Napoli. Please go to Napoli.

I wouldn’t read too much into it at this point, de Laurentiis is quite liberal when it comes to the truth in situations like this.

The only club Enrique would go to this summer in the PL is us and I doubt he is at the top of our list. He’s hardly going to sit there hoping we decide to maybe go for him when Napoli want him and are a much better run club then us with an excellent squad and a fantastic DoF.

It's was funny talking to Celtic mate about state the club was in prior to Big Ange taking over.....
Hated owner, fans wanted rid of Dermot D as no significant investment & botched managerial search.
Chief executive leaving & questions over replacement.
Top managerial target, Eddie Howe, walked away as club wouldn't appoint DOF, guarantee investment etc..
Squad needed full rebuild as club captain leaving, Scott B, top defender went to Brentford, top striker to Palace plus more.
Interim manager in place for 4 months, ex player John Kennedy.
Team finished season miles behind main rival.

Sound like any club we know???

Big Ange appointed & majority of fans were disgusted, thought it was a piss take. They have since signed 16+ players in 2 seasons, mostly not from Japan! Big Ange recommended Asian players he was convinced would work & club backed him. He works directly with scouting department, identifies position & skill set required. Club put list of players together which are within budget & achievable signings, Big Ange has final say after talking to players. No player is signed without his approval.

Agreed with your points. The narrative out of Australia is that he relishes these types of challenges. He screams to me the one that is linked that will over perform on expectations.

Although reading some articles from the Aussie journalists - they do mention that the one thing he hasn't achieved is success in Europe. So if Celtic are throwing everything at him to stay one more season and will back him, would you realllly blame him? Biased thinking, I would say how wouldn't he come here, but then again, I see a pretty similar scenario to Slot developing.

The same journalists mention he was a Pool supporter growing up, and they could see him succeeding Klopp. I thought this was funny as many of our supporters don't want to touch Ange with a ten foot pole!

We’re the only vacancy he could be looking at realistically. Not going to Palace is he!

If he was top choice, he would have signed 3 weeks ago though. So who fucking knows who else we’re talking to.

Agree.

At least this means he is still an option. I know some on here aren’t keen on Enrique but I think he’s an interesting candidate compared to many on our increasingly diminishing shortlist.

I think he’s a good candidate footballing wise and is a lm amazing character. But I think he needs a strong DoF beside him to make it work because it would require a drastic change and don’t trust him and Levy alone to sort it out.

Also, worry about his longevity. I think even if things are going well could see him decide to go in 2/3 years. He doesn’t stick around at clubs for long.
