I don’t think there’s a perfect fit out there, if we’re 100% out on Nagelsmann. If he’s committed to a project, as he’s said he is, I think there’s a lot to work with. Regardless of manager, we’ll need a GK, LCB, attacking 8/10, and probably a winger. But the technical level in the squad gives him a lot of options.

Romero, Porro, Emerson, Bentancur, Bissouma, Sarr, Kulusevski, Kane. And on loan there’s Ndombele, Lo Celso, Gil, Reguilon, Udogie. Assuming the new signings will be more technical, and throw in Son and Richarlison (who I think could be slight misfits in his ideal style) that’s a group of probably 15 at minimum Enrique would have to work with. With no Europe and obviously some more players still in the squad, I think that gives him plenty of options to do what he wants. The great thing is that Enrique has proven he is tactically adaptable and can play a more direct style or a more deliberate one in either a back 3 or a back 4. So he’d have the luxury to mold the team to what he wants without too much work besides what we need regardless of manager.

Could give us a leg up for Raya and Laporte if they are serious targets (get a DOF first for God sake). No one is a sure thing, but ending up with Enrique would for me be quite positive given how disjointed this club/board is.
Great post.

I thought Slot was the ‘perfect fit’ but now he’s off the table there are really pros and cons to all of Naglesmann (v unlikely), L.Enrique, Amorim, Big Ange etc etc

As long as the new manager is a better fit for who we want to be as a club moving forwards that will make a huge difference to the positive momentum we can gather again.

Jose was Jose, Nuno was terrible and Conte was doing us a favour with the wrong type of football, none of those projects were ever going to get started it was always a quick big bang and hope we suffer to a trophy but it didn’t work so now we go again with a project style approach and I think that will suit everyone at the club, fans, players, everyone.

We are so used to the negativity of the last 3 years but ‘things can change quickly in football’, with the right fit of Manager we can all be smiling again 🤞

Adios. 🇪🇸

Despite knowing Levy’s thirst for control I don’t think I will ever completely understand why we don’t go all out for Nagelsmann. The timing just felt serendipitous but all things considered, and taking Levy into account, we could do a lot worse than Enrique.

Maybe Nags isn’t interested any more after we didn’t speak to him.

What formation does Enrique play?
Is he an attacking coach?

Paul O Keefe on Twitter is surprised people are calling Enrique an attacking coach, saying he’s definitely not that 🤷🏻‍♂️
4-3-3 mainly but has also used 3-4-3 diamond and 3-4-2-1 he’s quite flexible, he’s possession based but more direct than say a Pep.

POK doesn’t know his arse from his elbow then if he’s saying that. Watch his Celts Vigo, Barca and Spain teams, all lovely football.

My only concern with him is he’s not really built a ‘longer term project’ before but his Managerial career took an interesting path from Roma to Celts Vigo then Barca job then Spain job so all logically stepping stones and he’s now publicly said he wants the PL and he wants a project so let’s see if he’s be one we go for.

We really need long term stability so hopefully he can bring us that.

I think some (and tbh it's an argument worth having) whether the Tiki-Taka style is super "attacking" in the modern game. It sounds kind of stupid but Barca and Spain have gotten so good at it over the past twenty years that it's almost become a weakness for those sides at points.

You get some saying possession without killer instincts. I'm sure most would just like us to see us try and keep the ball hahaha

I think Enrique is a stand up guy, personable, and would back him.

Slot gate broke me, everything else now just feels meh! Can't explain it but just had this feeling he would be the one to turn this shit around. However, with the continued shitshow at the top, does it really matter who we get in?!

There's no use in me a-cryin'
I've done everything and now I'm sick of trying
I've thrown away my nights and wasted all my days over you
Well you go your way and I'll go mine
Now and forever 'till the end of time
I'll find somebody new and baby
We'll say we're through and you won't matter anymore

You could chuck some people from this forum into the Celtic manger’s position and get them playing decent football and winning the league. Agne’ CV is about at the level to take over Leicester and try get them back in the prem or improve a team like Wolves.

If there are better options available, people with more experience at a high level then we should be looking at them first. Someones qualifications and achievements do matter, especially to players that have been managed by some of the best managers in world football - it also matters to players potentially looking to join us.

Wild how people will settle just because of a rough season.

Pretty much all of the managers we’ve been linked to after JN have been “fine” (other than the brief links to Galtier and Glasner). This includes Enrique. After the last debacle that ended up with Nuno I am perfectly content with “fine”.
Thanks Daniel.

With Enrique no compensation to negotiate. That is a plus?
If it’s a choice between Slot for 15m and Enrique for nothing and that 15m going towards a vital CB then it’s an easy choice. Our next manager will need big money spent on a GK and CB regardless of who they are, absolutely non-negotiable for me

Wonder if we will start to see some noise in the Spanish football press around this? If this has legs that will surely be inevitable, given the very high profile he has in Espana.....

I know, how anyone can use that as an example to follow is beyond me.
My favourite part is that the DOF knew what players he liked. I mean it's not like every manager like's the best players in the world. Absolute madness
You are getting the nuance wrong.
I was trying to say that the set up was intuitive and everyone knows wats needed and
Like your wife/partner finishes your sentences

whereas in our structure, we hear that even within board they can’t agree on not just who should be our manager, but what kind of manager … and most definitely have different thoughts on what kind of players is needed and what kind of players signed

a seemingly simply principle
But huge chasm in comparison

Possession without intent (I’m going through this right now with Austin FC) is worse to watch than counter-attacking.

Also just ran across an old aggregator tweet saying Daniel held interest in him about a decade ago to replace AVB.

Just had a small £10 flutter on Enrique at between 6/1 and 5/1.

Some of the other rank outsider "contenders" quoted at Betfair are laughable. Sven Goran Eriksson?! Mark Hughes?!

Brendan Rodgers is 2nd favourite FFS.

Not trying to sound like a jerk...but Conte said the same about his preferred LCB....he got a Barca reject and a pink slip.

No way I trust the midget with that £15M compensation package

I’ve already planned a tapas night for Friday evening and bought one of those 3 grand legs of ham that Jose bought for Reggie that one time.
are you already giving in? Don't!!!!! Have some Wienerschnitzel, sauerkraut, and a nice bottle of gewurztraminer instead.

Personally I have my reservations and I'm not convinced he's the right fit, but Enrique talk seems to be picking up pace.
The idea that we would only start seriously pursuing Enrique now that Napoli are after him is so deeply reactionary that it actually sounds exactly like something we would do…
