Let's be honest. If Postecoglou wasn't Australian, and he was Dutch, Italian or English, even managing Celtic, with his record up there we would snap him up.... forget the J League. Do you think Arse fans wanted Arsene Wenger when he came from Grampus Eight...? well they did after one season

I didn't think it would be big Ange, especially after his speech on the pitch after collecting the title last weekend. But it all points that way..

All I want is for Levy to step back from footballing side of Spurs... Something he just can't do. Personally I wish he would pack his bags and do one.. But that ain't happening

As long as Postecoglou brings us attractive football, that will be a bonus to me.

I hope this fiasco of appointing someone ends soon... we seem to be a laughing stock of the media, as always
Eh? If Postecoglu had the same resumé but wasnt Australian, he wouldnt be on the list whatsoever.

Nah I listened to him the other day saying he'd written a 4000 word piece on Slot only for it to go to shit just before publication.

It looks very much like it will be AP now though.
So I’ve lost 10 grand on Enrique. 🙈

Pretty conveniently leaving out Wenger won the French League, French Cup & got to the semi finals of the champions league with Monaco, then was wanted by Bayern Munich but Monaco wouldn't let him out of his contract.

The GIF is from "the postman always rings twice"
Don't know if it's been mentioned already, but a quick google search shows the description for The Postman Always Rings Twice as "The sensuous wife of a lunch wagon proprietor and a rootless drifter begin a sordidly steamy affair and conspire to murder her Greek husband."

Ange is Greek. That's all I got.

I didn't leave that out.... People on here are saying Ange isn't good enough because he went to Celtic from the J League... I was comparing managers who came from the J League... I know of Wengers french achievements.... I followed Hoddle's career for monaco when Wenger signed him.... But Ange didn't manage in France....

I’m very tired today and hence irritable and grumpy, so these cryptic clues just make me feel 🙄

If he knows something, why not just post it rather than the mystical self promotion.

Bah humbug! 🤨😂

Postecoglou is actually Greek, not Australian. He was raised in Oz, where his Greek parents migrated after the military coup of 1967. Eventually he got the Australian passport.

The French league was relatively strong back in the late 80's/early 90's, with Monaco and Marseille both being decent. Marseille won the Champions League in '93 in one of the worst finals I have every seen. Not only was Hoddle at Monaco Waddle was at Marseille and Clive Allen at Bordeaux.
Klinsmann at Monaco also

One thing I think some people tend to get wrong is our stature.

Yes, we are a big club BUT we are still having to punch above our weight to win titles (cups not so much). So when people say that we should have an elite coach, it hasn't worked out.

Why?

Well, because those coaches have earnt a position that affords them more resources and they have less patience because they want to win instantly. So if they don't get what they need they start to get irritated.

Coaches like Jose and Conte look at their peers and already believe to be better than them. They don't take losing against them very well and thus try to 'speed up' the process.

That can't happen at a club like Tottenham. Although, we should absolutely be doing better.

Tottenham are 6th highest in the player's salary table. I expect Newcastle to surpass us soon.

That's why we always suit upcoming ambitious coaches who want to go and prove themselves against the best but with a bit of time on their side.

There's no entitlement there from them, so they won't start kicking off about not having resources. They dig deeper to find them and if they lose they take a lesson instead of getting bitter or irritated.

The issue for Levy and co is to realise who has that mentality and who is actually 'a chancer'.

Nuno and AVB were chancers, in this respect. Someone who only had one real way of working and didn't have the mentality to fall back on. ABVB got whiny and went into a mood, whilst Nuno was too one-dimensional with his personality.

Ange doesn't appear to be a chancer and seems like someone who would relish the fight, not going into a sulk or become defeated.

I felt the same about Slot.

Would give this double winner if I could. All the Contes Nagelsmanns etc want to be at clubs that expect to win trophies.

We have a shiny stadium and high revenues but at the end of the day we go into each season hoping to win a trophy, not expecting.

This is 100% Scott Munn getting his mate a job.
Cannot believe the club is making this kind of a punt.
His body of work is nowhere near the level required to meet the litmus test.
Big Ange is no doubt biting Levy's hand off at the chance to take the role.
He's literally skipping 5 years of career progression.
Aussie League to K League to SPL.
Managing a premier league big 6 club as his next job is insane.
He should be earning his stripes in the championship or lower premier league team.
Show he can do it in a highly competitive league.

For the record, Neil Lennon won 5 trophies in 2 seasons and averaged 70% win rate when he took over from Rodgers...
Nothing against Ange, and if he does come I hope we absolutely luck out. But this is not the correct managerial choice for Spurs.

Based on all the snippets I’ve read he comes across as a Jol type character, big figure in both stature and attitude.
Hopefully he can come in and get our guys working together.

Also, if we just change it slightly, we can use the He’s Magic You Know don’t so that’s another big plus!
If Ange is our man then he will have my 100% backing because that’s what fans do.

Bro, why are you arguing with an account that just was created 10 minutes ago. Use your brain.

Lots of new accounts in here all shilling a specific narrative. Wonder why?

I know a few of yous have done the same already, but a guy I work with is a Celtic ST holder ( he lives in Essex, and travels up to every home game). I've text him asking his thoughts on AP coming to spurs and he's replied saying
" Aye he's coming to yous, going by reports coming out of Celtic. He's a bloody good manager, and yous will be playing exciting attacking football. Them players better be ready to run for 90 mins, or they'll be out the door. Had no idea who he was when he first came to Celtic, but he's been amazing ".
He then sent me a voice note saying" he demands full control on signings. He wants nobody getting in his way of players who come and go". He reckons this will be a big stumbling block with us and levy.

I'm, like many of you who's sitting on the fence with AP, but if he comes in will back him 100%

Fully expecting Ange to win the final and promptly sign a new contract at Celtic.

Pretty much every manager I've got any degree of excited about us signing post-Poch has rejected us, signed a new deal or we've spaffed up the negotiations (ETH, Nags, Slot...hell even Fonseca).

I'm just going to assume we're getting someone I don't want so I'll stop getting my hopes dashed.
