My infants and junior school years were through the 80s in north London. I would say the split was pretty even between Spurs, Arsenal and… Liverpool for the glory hunters!? This is perhaps why Liverpool are amongst my top 3 disliked teams. Couldn’t see a Chelsea or even a West Ham fan anywhere.

Now we’re in Essex, my son’s friends are mostly West Ham and Arsenal, there are some Spurs but not as many as you’d think. You do, however, see a fair few Man U, Liverpool, Chelsea and Man City kits as well. Like a poster mentions earlier, most of these kits have player names. A lot of the newer generation seemingly place their association to a player. Much in the same way we in UK perhaps did with US sports back in day. The amount of Michael Jordan Chicago Bulls tops was next level. Most people that wore them knew very little about the NBA 😂

I'm really not seeing it with Ange. I get that he says some positive things to players and that he wants to play attractive football. He is likable which is a bonus too.

However, with his record in Scotland being very similar to Neil Lennon's time managing there, i thought I'd look at his record at his previous club to see if I'm missing something.

From his time at Yokohama Marionos.

His PPG was 1.66

The two managers after him
Hideski matsunaga (only 5 matches mind) 2.40
Kevin muscat (86 matches) 1.95

Before him
He matched Erick Mombaerts 1.66
and Yashuhiro Higuchi 1.67

So looking at both his time at Celtic and Yokohama his stats really don't stand out.

Would we be looking at Kevin Muscat who has outperformed him at Yokohama or Neil Lennon who matched him at Celtic?

I'll back him 100% if he gets that job, but I'd be lying if I said I don't have major concerns, if things don't start well it's not like he has an amazing record that we can fall back on.

It has the makings of a perfect storm, a poor start by us, Chelsea getting off to a great start under Poch and Arsenal coming out the blocks flying and I hate to think how toxic things could become.
Every Aussie NOT from Melbourne hates the prick!
Prime asshole.

Doesn't Tim Sherwood have the best points per game average of any Premier League Spurs Manager?

Having no knowledge of the relative strengths of the teams in Japan compared to those who came before and after means I can't make any conclusions of those stats for teams.

Having watched our games under all our recent managers I can absolutely say that Tim Sherwood was never up to the task despite his average so we shouldn't dismiss any potential candidate based off stats alone.

I’ll be gutted if it’s not Ange now. What a nice guy he is. And has the perfect character for what we need right now. Get everyone pulling in the same direction.

I don’t actually see how he fails. Best case scenario he is better than we all realise and gets Kane a trophy in his last year. Worst case, he gets us playing better football and repairs the disconnect a lot of us fans currently have with the club. He understands what it is to be a supporter of a club and how important a role we have in a clubs existence. There will be some unpleasant bumps along the way but after a couple of months we will all love the guy, I’m convinced.

Some pundits in the the Australian media seemingly want AP to move to “Totten-ham” too. They see it as a step up and perfect time to move on:

I live in Crawley

there were LOADS of spurs fans when I was at school in the 80’s
Well that changed when I got to school. Was only two others during my GCSE years in the 2000s.

There seems to be more popping up now though. Guess we can thank the rise up the league, Poch, Son and Kane for that.

I just don’t see him coming, I don’t know why just feel he will stay with Celtic. I assume if he is off on holiday Tuesday we will hear the outcome very quickly.

Our pre-season game in Perth would get a lot more media hype if AP is in charge

I have a 7 year old boy who plays for two football teams and his school. I go to the games, training etc. there is not a single other spurs shirt. In about 100 kids. Not one. When you talk to these kids about spurs, they know the club as losers who play poor football. There are three Brighton shirts. The kids parents do not support Brighton. The kids just liked watching them this year.
Those of you, like me, that remember spurs winning trophies in the past, well that is exactly what it is. The past. Too long ago now to affect a 7 year old kid. They don’t even know who Paul gascoinge is let alone Jimmy greaves

It isn’t fancy stadiums or good financial returns that attract fans to your club. It’s decent football with good attitude and ambition.
The current ambassadors of our great club would do well to think about that at the moment.
unfortunately ENIC just sees us as a cash cow

Stop reading the constant negative posting by them then. It's so clear that some are so biased against the board that all their posts reflect that.

Start focusing on the positive, it's really not that bad. Did you think that we were in a better place than arsenal last year when we finished above them. again? Newcastle nearly got relegated last season and just finished 3rd. (I know they have untold riches, but they didn't splash that much cash to get 3rd and they were starting from a much lower base then us). Look at villas turn around? The point is, it's easy to let a shit season to get you down. Our season was So shit, that we finished 8th. Brighton had an amazing season and finished a whopping 2 points ahead. That shows you how far we have come and how expectations have grown.

We have everything thing set up (stadium, training ground, commercial etc etc.) to be a massive club. We have a fresh start coming under a new manager (hopefully with attacking football). Let's get in a couple of centre backs and an attacking midfielder and we go again.
Football is a hobby. Hobbies are supposed to be fun. Don't get drawn down into the endless negative spiral that some seem to enjoy so much.
Whoa... Now that is an example of my cup have filled.

I applaud you for this positivity.

Now I wish I had read your message before the renewal deadline line 😜😁

I’m buying Fosters in industrial quantities. I’ll have enough to satiate Pete Doherty for an entire afternoon.

Also, Crocodile Dundee’s ace.

Well that is that then you've changed my mind
Sign him up 🙄
yep, oz the hotbed of talent and £££ in oz supporters only 24hrs flight away. Just what enic needs.

I mean the managers record speaks for itself as a project manager with 25 years project experience. Its ok though he'll give you a cuddle and let klippety run right through the non-existent defending.

Isn't that a normal thing though. If my time working in Australia taught me anything, its that it is a very parochial place - the South Australians hate the Victorians and vice versa.
I grew up in Western Australia and moved to Victoria, for a few reasons. Went back temporarily to WA and decided to move back to Victoria (for my now wife) and I still remember my grandmother crying saying "I can't believe you're moving over to the enemy".

Ange speaks so well, plays great football and from everything I've seen ( and it's a lot in the past 36 hours) seems a great man motivator.

I think he would use our existing coaches so Mason and Wells, maybe Toure could be promoted to add the star name some crave? And he really understands football fans and their passion.

Is it a huge risk ? Yes absolutely but I don't think it's anymore of a risk than Slot .

The way I see it is if this doesn't work both Ange and levy will get stick , if Enrique came and doesn't work were just going to end up with the same arguments were currently having about him not backing a big named manager. I'd rather go for the option who can try to unify us all . Not like we have much to lose.

I’d actually argue that it wouldn’t be luck and that it’s just taken quite a while to evaluate options and make the final appointment, by all accounts Slot was by far the n.o1 choice, we couldn’t get him so have identified Big Ange, L.Enrique and Amorim and are likely to go for Big Ange or L.Enrique, all who play fairly nice attacking football so by all accounts we’ve actually identified a consistent type of Manager so if whoever we land on does well then I wouldn’t in this case say that’s by ‘luck’.

I’ve criticised Levy for years on his handling on the football side and lack of plan but it’s important to be balanced and fair, some Managers he’s hired have been poor and bad choices but some like Redknapp and Poch worked out very well.

Before people say it that we could’ve ended up with Van Gaal, we didn’t, Levy had Poch on his final 2, went for him and it worked out really well.

Do I wish we had more of a plan and were more decisive? Yes.

Am I still concerned about how the football side of the club is being run? Yes.

Am I also balanced and objective enough to recognise that the club did an internal review and audit of both the player recruitment and football strategy and are perhaps realising they need to adapt and operate differently and by that have appointed Munn in a newly created role and structure and have been targeting 3-4 Managers who all play the style of play we want to see? Yes.

I think the issue is as much as we all very much appreciate info etc, when it’s constantly worded in such a dramatic and negative fashion without us being able to ask Q’s or know the full details then it can get a bit tiring because others have a habit of jumping on this and wallowing in and exacerbating the doom and gloom.

Like I said at the start of the process, Levy is a ‘blue’ analytical type personality, so things get overanalysed and dragged out but if at the end of this process we hire a manager who is a good fit and who aims to play the type of football we want to see and develop younger players and build a new project then like Jol, Redknapp and Poch, it is possibly to make this job a vague ‘success’ under Levy’s reign and for us to most importantly enjoying watching and supporting the team again.
