We have gone the route of Jose and Conte, some of the best in the business, but their brand of football was turgid.

I've spoken to two Celtic fans here who are absolutely gutted about this. They had the same reservations who the hell this guy was. They haven't played this great football since the Martin O'Neill days, and these fans have seen a lot of titles and know what they like.

This fella likes to dip into the Asian leagues and demands attacking football and 100% effort.

I have no idea of this bloke, but bloody hell I didn't know much about Poch before he came to Spurs either. I hope we get this fella to be honest.

When we appointed Munn, I said it raised the chances of Postecoglou being the one significantly.

Then Slot's name moved further forward.

But you have to consider the model that Munn and Postecoglou have been working in, plus the intention to move towards a data-led operation, and what you should get is a decision based on the structure of the club and the model we are working with.

Nagelsmann may have fit that but at the same time he probably wants more say over the DOF, and if you change the DOF then you have to change the model again.

Slot probably would have been well-suited but not at the fee.

I think if you look at the model we are intending to work under then Postecoglou makes the most sense.

Appointing coaches that don't fit the way we work has been one of the biggest criticisms.
So any news on the DOF? who is meant to appoint the manager ? havent really heard anything on that front

Absolute, total rubbish. I will give Ange my full backing - and so should all of us - but this kind of "we should know our place" nonsense is spouted by far too many people currently. The same people who think we should sell Kane and want him "to win trophies elsewhere" as he "deserves better". Masochistic in the extreme

If we can't show ambition what exactly is the point of supporting us? Your comments are hardly "To Dare Is To Do"

Once more - for those who don't quite get it yet - the Club and the fans will NOT accept us bumbling around in 8th place and winning a few games 6-4 playing pretty football. Its simply not enough. No manager we appoint will survive a season like that given the size of the club and the money they charge for tickets - and the money we have spent on players.

I wish Ange all the best but we badly need the squad issues sorted and he will need a good start and get the players and fans onside quickly. If he is struggling in November we will all be back in this poxy thread again.....
My comments weren’t to speak I’ll of Ange, I’m actually looking forward to seeing what he can do and willing to give him time.

Of course I want us to be ambitious, but we’ve been coasting for a few years now, with no solid plan for the future. It’s going to take a couple of years to implement positive change. Im not trying to be a downer, just trying to be realistic (maybe for my own good) because if we lose Kane this window, which I hope we don’t, next season could be a very tough one.

I know everything that can be shared has, but I'd not seen this before. A bit of insight into what drives him:

@KingNick who else is jumping at the chance to then?
I’d say quite confidently that many managers across much better leagues would all want the job.

Enrique is also said to be incredibly keen on the job and Slot wanted the opportunity. JN seems to be the only one who might have turned us down but more due to not getting his demands met rather than because of the club per se.

Suggesting the club is viewed as toxic and managers don’t want to come is just a ridiculous creation by people outside of football.

Edit: and Poch of course was desperate to come back.

So Slot, was apparently our number one choice, he wanted the job, but he chose to stay where he is.

Big Martin Jol vibes with Ange. After Conte feeling like he was doing us a favour to earn 15m a year turning up every week I’m looking forward to a manager who takes pride in being here and wanting to do well.

Quietly optimistic, gonna take some patience to get it right though.

I find the psychology fascinating on this one. If any of us worked hard , had success at each level in our respective professions we would hope and be determined to reach the very best level possible.

If our workplace continually passed us over for some massively paid executive who was renowned for being a massive problem
at the first sign of things not going their way we would be very resentful. Yes they can succeed but they sure don’t half moan all the time.

Postecoglou has done good things at lower levels and deserves a shot. Whether you believe that to be Spurs is a different matter but we have brought in Mourinho and Conte and both have contributed to an abysmal brand of football and a culture of negativity.

What had Poch done when he arrived at Spurs. Let’s see what happens as it can’t be any worse than recent years.

I agree that the football was boring, but there is the potential he had us playing like that because of how weak our defence was.

I also agree that we should be going for a coach that can improve the players but this appointment is a total gamble when it comes to that, someone like Skippy would be a star in any of the leagues he has managed in. We don’t know if he’s able to coach players at a premier league level, the top leagues in Scotland, Japan and Australia rank nearly 50 places below the Premier League.

Its a really strange appointment if it happens, and no matter how many people are saying this is a win now, he was on no ones list at the end of March.
Well, I said this in early March, so you're not right there...
I don't think so, Big Ange seems to get quite a lot of respect in the game and from pundits, so seems to have something about him.
Steve G was a great player but like Fat Frank, doesn't have the personality (or dare I say intelligence) to be a top manager these days.

I think many people fell for the hype over Gerrard, which was mainly built by the staff he had around him. I'd not heard much about anything groundbreaking or special about his coaching methods, in fact, I don't remember hearing much at all about his methods.
I have heard good things said about Postecoglu though and whether he'd work or not for us, he does actually seem to be a good coach.

I don't follow any coach particularly closely but at the moment, I'd probably rather take a punt on Postecoglu than Enrique, who I'm not at all convinced about.
Ange seems to have the personality that the fans could get behind too, a bit like BMJ.

Oh mate, I'm no expert and don't know a lot about him either, just that I have heard some positive things about him and I like his personality.
I don't recall that ever being the case with Stevie G.

It's always hard to judge anyone based in the Scottish League, especially when they are at Celtic or Rangers but I'd reckon Ange is as safe a bet as any.

How I wish we would have a plan, or dare I say, a DNA. Good luck Postecoglou, it won’t be easy.
