I have no problem with Neymar doing something like that, 'the game is about glory' after all. I can also understand why Bilbao players would be annoyed. They're getting roundly beaten in a cup final, and now they've just been roundly outskilled by a piece of individual brilliance. It's annoying, I get it.

But he wasn't doing that, he was taking the piss out of of Bilbao knowing that they're 3-1 down and likely to be dejected.

What was wrong with him carrying out a normal dribble like he had done the rest of the match?

That isn't sportsmanship.
Everybody forgetting the fact the right back kicking him up in the air a minute before he embarrassed him?

Because that's a natural piece of skill and is more effective than an overhead flick hence why you rarely never see anyone do it.
Bollocks ! Its hardly done because its hard to execute but if you can, do it. Would you still have this stance if one of our players successfully executed it in a NLD? I doubt it somehow. Disrespectful my ass. How about sore loser?

Fuck me. Football is becoming a sport precious princesses. It seems that no matter what you get up to you are out of order.

The world is going bat shit crazy.

What's the difference if Messi had nutmegged a few of their players and got into the box because of it? Would that be a lack of respect because the game is won? Or would it be an audacious bit of skill that he has the confidence and ability to pull off that engineers a chance for him to shoot?

Most definitely the latter. And lets have it right, this game is about entertaining and people pay a fortune to watch it. I love to see some players who have the confidence to try this sort of thing. If you're on the end of a sublime piece of skill, if it comes off, you should applaud it. If it doesn't you get on with the game.

The only thing that is pathetic in that video is the reaction from the AB players.

Bollocks - Jesus Chris is that how we argue these days when we don't agree win an opinion, wind your neck in.

All I'm saying is that no-one is seeing from the Bilbao player's point of view, they're losing 3-1 in a final after being completely outplayed yet the opposition are doing circus tricks against them, it's just poor form and completely out of order.

It's out and out bad sportsmanship, why do you think they reacted like that and why do you think Luis Enrique condemned Neymar?

There needs to be respect in football, but not to the extent where you have to limit your own ability on the pitch.

That's why I was annoyed when the Germany players after their 7-1 win over Brazil admitted that they had gone easy on Brazil in the second half after discussing it at half-time There's even a video of Ozil slowing down an attack and letting David Luiz get back into position (Luiz high-fives Ozil as he's running, showing that he knows that Ozil is trying to show 'respect').

Fuck that shit. If I was one of them, I would've wanted to destroy the opponents. I wouldn't have given a shit if it upset the fans or if it was in the home country of the opposition. I would want to score as many goals as possible, even if it ended crazily at 12-1- you should always play to your full ability, no much how much it harms the other team.

Damn right. I don't get the reaction whatsoever from the AB fans and players. Even Enrique having a go after is a joke. If Barca were in a position where they weren't winning I'd understand the stupidity behind doing the trick, simply because it'd be stupid to try things like that when a safer option may be available. Kind of like taking a shot from 50 yards when you're losing or it's 0-0.

Players like Ronaldo and Messi are constantly showboating when they ruin defenders, or even the former legends like Maradonna and Zidane. What about wonder goals like Charlie Adams' or Lamela's? It's ridiculous to say it's disrespectful. There are far more disrespectful acts seen on the pitch like stamping, spitting, biting and abuse. To pull someone up for doing a trick is simply ridiculous. Imagine if one of ours pulled it off in the NLD, we'd be replaying it for years, and rightly so.

I don't have any issues with a player trying to do something entertaining seeing as, y'know, football's supposed to be entertainment.

It's a good job Leandro Damiao never made it to Europe, that was his only trick!

disrespectful is doing keepy-uppies, or sitting on the ball - he was genuinely trying to beat his man, nothing wrong with it at all.

What a crock!

Bad sportsmanship my arse.

Next thing you'll be saying it's bad form to beat a team by more than 1 goal.

Maybe Liverpool can use that argument to get their game against Stoke replayed. After all, Nzonzi had the audacity to hit a peach when they were about 3 up.

I didn't see you on here spitting feathers after Lamela's Rabona either.

Christ on a bike!

I think there is a general difference as to how showboating is seen here and in Spain, that's where the problem lies. Even Enrique said it was out of order. Personally I don't see the big deal but the Spanish clearly do.

I'm at work so can't see the video so can't really comment.

I remember in the Man Utd v Wigan league cup final Utd were 4-0 and Ronaldo started doing kick ups. His players immediately told him to cut it out. It was a bit humiliating for the opposition so I can understand that.

If Neymar was doing some fancy skills to take players on then fair enough.

I remember watching highlights of an old match between Leeds and Southampton. Leeds were hammering them and started passing it around and the crowd cheering every pass. Pretty humiliating for the Southampton players but they didn't react badly.

If it's entertaining then play on I say.
He would never have got to the ball so went down like a feather, I think that pi**ed off the Ath players.
But what about the ref, totally lost control when he backed off.
