On the plus side you can add him to the list of players Jose Mourinho has left to drift and finally got rid of, plenty in that list would have been fine by me.

That would be a superb window if we do - comparable to last January.

Agreed. I dont really care about either player, I dont know much about them but if they solve a couple of the issues we have then im all for it.

You know though we will have fans/pundits all over social media still complaining that we didnt spend enough or didnt get the defenders we needed or keeper etc etc etc - if we add two or three quality players needed in every window over three or so years we will build a quality squad.

I think this summer will be the defence worked on (the players we want should be available by then) and perhaps another attacker... and Kane situation.

Personally I really want Zaniolo. If you actually look at him and the qualities he has, you can see that if used as Conte believes he should be, then he could be a fantastic addition. I do think this is one we will get over the line. In fact, I think we will get both Zaniolo and Porro.
I just hope that bringing In Zaniolo and Porro will be enough to make Conte happy for now. It is a real shame we couldn’t strengthen the defence as I can’t help but feel these two, although help, won’t change the mentality issues as they seem to be routed with our back line. Still they should def help with our attack. Obv.

Could Zaniolo become a Dembele type? Be there to receive the ball from the defence and physically move it up the pitch to the forwards?
That may mean playing 3 in the middle, or just 2 forwards but for those who've watched a lot of him, do you think he'd be capable of a kind of box-to-box, progressive midfielder role?

Dembo rarely scored or assisted but his work and value through the middle of the pitch was immeasurable.
He also started out as a forward before dropping deeper and finding his role.

Yeah he's definitely got a similar skillset. And from what WLB was saying last night the club see him as a perfect player to allow us to play 3 in midfield against teams that try and outnumber us in that area.

That would/could actually solve a fair few of our problems then.
Help us progress the ball through midfield properly and take some pressure off the defence, what with being able to give it short to someone who will turn and go, rather than passing it straight back to them.

Maybe Conte does know what he's doing, he just needs the skillset in the squad to enable it!

Lots of risk with this transfer, but neither Bents or Kulu were lighting it up in Italy either, so who knows, though much prefer a ch and rwb first.

The risk for me over this transfer is his dodgy knees and general injury record, I think he's popped his shoulder out this season too and that is just in Italy. To ignore this kind of record is folly.

If we don't buy him some will say we're not backing Conte, if we do buy him and he ends up a sicknote people will criticize the stupidity.

The negative in me sees us pull away from the Trossard deal to pursue Zaniolo. Arse sign Trossard, Zaniolo doesn't materialise. o_O

That’s where I thought he would be when he first came through. An all action CM like Toure who could assist and score but with the physique of a CB and the athleticism of a B2b

I still, probably naively, feel that if we really tried to get him that he’d come here. Although we’d probably have to convince him that Conte is staying.
I find the links between Conte and Zaniolo interesting as Conte sold him to Roma in one of his final acts at Inter - does he really love him or is there a bit of story telling in that narrative?

Takeovers takes months and years unless this has been going for that long don’t expect it right now
And a minority investment would probably actually take longer as rather than cleanly just get DL/Enic out, they'd have to negotiate a shareholder agreement governing how they could work with DL on an ongoing basis (what level of decision making they would be involved in, how new capital injections would be dealt with etc).
