Would roma allow our medical department to look at Zaniolos knee information before we’d continue with the deal or would we have to agree a deal and then find out in the medical.

This would definitely feel like a bit of an underwhelming transfer under the circumstances. The guy is a talented player but this would just feel like the kind of opportunistic punt we'd have made in the past, not in a window where we have big pull and a £150m cash injection.

On LCB it looks like we've gone from Bastoni/Gvardiol to Lenglet on loan. Smart signing hopefully but likely a plan D (who also happens to be much cheaper).

To do similar on AM would be frustrating. Maddison/Paqueta to what I'd assume would be some kind of creative loan with obligation type deal on Zaniolo is a downgrade IMO. The two together would compound and feel like a missed opportunity IMO.

If Conte wants him and the deal happens, so be it, I hope he smashes it. I just can't see him usurping Kulusevski who simply seems better in every way despite being two years younger. I guess if it doesn't work out he'll be a handy bargaining chip for Serie A deals down the line.

Yh nice comparison of players in different seasons and different positions.....
They weren’t different positions when we signed Sissoko.

Sissoko also was considered a wide pacy attacking player.

He was then moved back into a more engine room role, although even Mourinho still played him wide right at times.

Injuries and hes basically a slower moura..... doesn't add anything to the squad as what we need is creativity and he doesn't bring that
You genuinely think Zaniolo is just a slower Moura? Are you basing that off of twitter?

There's no obligation for the selling club to disclose this information, however in a case like this the clubs often very transparent if there's nothing to hide. I do some work with an ex chelsea doc and they made a request to Newcastle before signing Demba Ba, to which Newcastle shared their data on the player.

I do understand that, and I am sure they know more than me, but if he is our creative option we are bringing we've been told about then I am completely underwhelmed. I know you are the messenger, but if we want to win the league you have to think what would the top sides like city do..... and would they sign Zaniolo?

Just for reference what exactly have you been told?

I say this because if it's come from a blue background you do realise it'll only be that persons opinion of the player right?

I'll be honest it's the first I've personally heard of our interest today and we were looking at others but remember the recurring theme I've been all but shouting since January....... When you are overhauling half the squad the transfer window needs to be looked at as fluid as the parts are always moving.

yet 2 goals in the league.......... where would that make him in our scorer list. He scored most his goals against nobodies in the ECL
I wasn’t making any particular point on whether his record was good or not, it was a straight answer to a question.
I don’t think it’s anything to write home about, as it happens.

We don’t have City’s budget tho mate and Conte looks for a very specific blend and set of skills within the overall puzzle of the squad.

We need to make the most out of budget and if Conte likes Zaniolo then we should trust that as the guy knows very well how to build winning squads.

Id personally rather Maddison but if he’s not available and Zaniolo is available at a decent price then he’s certainly a risk worth taking as only 2 seasons ago he was heralded as the next Totti and THE next big thing in European and Italian football.

A fresh start and life under Conte could easily see him get back to that and/or at least be a very helpful part of the squad.

Let's look on the bright side, he's been injury prone in the past but he doesn't have any ACLs left to injure!
