He’s about a foot taller than Moura for a start ? he’s also left footed and last season he only missed 4 games in Serie A through injury, can play ACM,CAM,RW not just RW, is 23 not nearly 30 but yea other than that you’re bang on ;)
The truth is if he was actually that good for Roma this season they’d be trying to keep him. I mean he’s the future of Italian football, only 23, versatile, started all their matches in Serie A, formed a ‘wonderful’ partnership with Abraham…

no, wait, instead they’re openly touting him around Europe to the highest bidder.

That should say it all.

If you can get Zaniolo in as a 5/6th choice attacker while sending Ndombele the other way and enough cash to still buy a big defender. Could see this as smart business.

I don’t know if this counts as ‘most would be happy with’ though.

(a) Mourinho did the same to Salah and De Bruyne.
(b) We all saw Mourinho's tactics first hand - 10 men behind the ball, zero risk football, with one CF and one supporting player in a counter attack. Maybe Zaniolo did not fit his brand of football.
(c) Using your same logic Kulusevski and Bentancur should have been avoided.

I will admit I am underwhelmed by Zaniolo, especially given his injuries, but if fit and motivated he is an excellent alternative for the RWF slot in our team. I think some people are disappointed as they want a creative passer (like Eriksen or Maddison) but it appears that is not what Conte wants and is happy for his system / patterns of play to create the chances. What he wants is big, powerful runners who are technically adept to be able to execute his patterns.

Could say pretty much the same thing about Kulusevksi.

Plus, it's Mourinho, he was happy for Salah and De Bruyne to leave

Amazing that posters are questioning goal scoring prowess of a player playing under Jose.

particularly when we’ve had so many people saying Ajax got a great deal for Bergwijn who is better than Depay regardless of his goal record*

*I like Bergwijn, but it’s all so very emotivist and reactionary.

I've watched a fair bit of him and I'm very underwhelmed. Particularly as we've had some info that we were looking at exciting names we wouldn't have had a chance with until recently.

But Conte et al have forgotten more about football than I'll ever know, so I'll trust them and hope for the best.

He ‘was’ the future of Italian football before his massive injury. I admit who knows if he will get back to that level but at the right price could be worth a risk for sure as still only 23 and bags of talent.

He also fell out with Jose a bit , shock ? and only 2 years left on deal so could be he’s not on Jose’s plans and Roma also need some money to fund Dybala wages etc.

Juve weren’t desperately trying to hold onto Bentancur or Kulu but look how good they’ve been.

Im not saying if we got Zanilo he’d be a guaranteed success but football players and transfers and situations are not always as straight forward as you’re making out :)

We aren’t busting a gut to keep Lo Celso or Reguillon but I don’t doubt for a minute that either of them could go on to do well for their next clubs, if anything Zaniolo could probably do with getting out of Italy and with a fresh start.

He did the same to Salah and De Bruyne because his team was fucking loaded and he had world class options in front of them, Kulusevski also played in a significantly better team than Jose’s Roma. Zaniolo should be the player they build their team around instead he’s being binned off.

It should tell you something if you’re willing to really pay attention and analyze the situation. For one, Zaniolo is one of the first names on the team sheet and played 42 times this year. It ain’t the same thing as Kulu or Salah in the slightest, those guys weren’t starters most of tbe time.

But if the De Bruyne/Salah false equivalence suits you, then be my guest to live in dreamland about what this transfer actually is.

Personally pre ACL, I would of been all over him. But if Conté wants him, and I’m hearing firmly it his call and wish. I am then for it. You cannot dispute his ability. A no brained to me.

Conte wants him. His stats for last season should not be what he is totally judged on remember it's Mourinho and we know how that goes. He is 23 year old has been unlucky with injuries but is definite quality and did I mention CONTE WANTS HIM, that should be enough for all the scouts and football manager players on here..

Loan with option I believe.
Now that would be perfectly fine ‘risk’ with a lot of potential upside. Flat out £40-50 million would’ve been a bit too risky given he’s not quite hit his pre ACL form yet and that money with a bit more on top could be better spent on e.g. Maddison or Pacqueta if either were/are available to us.

Thanks for sharing mate, loan with option similar to Lenglet only has upsides to if, worst case they don’t set the world alight and we go for someone else next summer more permanent, best case they find their previous form and are a great fit we have an option we will take up with both hands :)

I think Conte see's his front three as:

LWF-------CF------RWF
Kulusevski----Kane-----Son
(Zaniolo)----(Rich)-----(Rich)
