I just don't see us getting him in January

I could see it 50/50. Jose saying he's welcome to stay but yet he's training on his own. Fab has mentioned that he wanted "Milan or Tottenham".

Maybe he ends up at Milan or gets frozen out until the Summer. But I still think there's a chance until the end of the window.

How has it got so bad this quick for him. Paratici issues aside I just think it’s inevitable we grab him on deadline day. Strange one

To me (I can't believe the tabloids haven't thought of this already) I don't see how Tanganga and Lucas for Zaniolo and Smalling wouldn't be feasible.

The values are in the same ballpark, and you have two players on expiring deals. Obviously swap deals rarely happen but you'd think Tanganga (interest in Italy in past ~20-25m) plus us continuing to pay Lucas' wages until his contract expires, for Smalling (contract expires in Summer) plus Zaniolo (~30m value) wouldn't somehow benefit both teams.

Tanganga replaces Smalling heading off in the Summer, while getting Lucas to fill in for Zaniolo's position. Jose seemed to like both. We get a player Conte wants and one that could fit our club model, while offloading a player we've been trying to for a while, and find a short-term solution for Lucas. Smalling provides as good as competition for Dier and is orginally from London.

All just fantasy FM stuff but it seems like a benefit to both clubs haha

You're off your rocker if you think we could get anywhere near £25 million for Tanganga.

I'd happily take £10m for him right now. Looked like he had potential a few years ago but just hasn't developed unfortuntely.

I think most clubs know we'd be happy to terminate Lucas contract if we signed another forward so not sure he's much use to try and use as a bartering tool with other clubs.

Man this feels like it’s right there for the taking and at a price that’s far from a massive risk. Going to be extremely interesting to see how this plays out over next 48 hours.

If we wanted him we would be making more effort in negotiations with Roma. Rightly or wrongly, I think we have moved on from this.

To be fair, the fact he quite clearly wants to leave and Roma quite clearly wants him gone plays right into out hands. Can see this being a deadline day deal.

I think most people want him mainly because they believe Conte wants him. There’s nothing wrong with that of course - it usually makes sense to give a manager players he wants. I’m not sure people would be so bothered about signing him if Conte leaves though.
Now thats exactly what I thought with Spence

If Conte still wants him then I believe we'll be back in for him. If it's between us and AC Milan then I'd rather we get him so that he doesn't become the difference maker in our CL tie

Interesting, he was planning to leave at the end of the season as he has a lots of interest. Roma really dont want him to go tho. This would very much pave the way for Japhet i would think if Smalling goes.
We should not sell Japhet imo
he is a decent squad player who can cover right side still a good age and British trained.

Players to be sold imo
Lloris
Dier
Sanchez
Moura
Doherty
Davies

Can't make my mind up on Emerson.

If a good offer comes in for Hojberjg YES.

Subject to change.

I agree. Emerson I think has a place in the side. I also think he could cover RCB and would be a good position for him given his attributes.

You'd get rid of Dier, Sanchez, Doherty and Davies possibly Emerson and hopefully Hojbjerg but you'd keep Japhet Tanganga?
I respectfully disagree with you completely.
