How cool is this!

David Cameron has said he will fly the flag of St George over No 10 during the football World Cup in South Africa.
The prime minister told MPs that the move would not cost anything and he hoped would help unite the nation behind the English team.

No matter what part of the UK people came from, he said he hoped they would be shouting "come on England".
Mr Cameron wished the team and manager well, ahead of their first match in South Africa.

Good move by Cameron will get some more of the 'working class' on his side

Clever move by his press secretary. Placate the Sun voters, and its not like they have any votes to lose in Scotland or Wales.

I think it's great - time to reclaim the flag of St George and be proud of it.

I 100% agree with you. A country should be proud of it's flag. A lot of houses in Denmark have a flagpole in their garden and fly the flag on Sundays and special occasions.

Flags have their origins in warfare, cameron is waging war on behalf of capital against human beings - perfect match!

Don't feel guilty about the human rights atrocities, genocides, etc inflicted down the ages, through today by the UK, England, Britain and the Empire - no CELEBRATE the rag they're carried out under!

I'd almost been lulled into supporting england by the incessant genial media coverage. Thank god cameron has shocked me out of it.

If Scotland qualified would they have flown their flag too? If Scotland (ever) were the only team to qualify who their flag fly alone on no 10?

Methinks probably not.

And since the Scots make such a palava about being independent from England why should they?

Or he's just flying the flag during the world cup like everyone else and to curry some cheap support

It's funny how irate people get at flags. I dislike quite how nationalistic people get at times, particularly during the world cup...but really...it's just a flag.

I really don't see the difference between displaying a flag to support an international football team or wearing your domestic team's colours.

Why bring scathing political comments into it when the context here is sporting affiliation and support - not war, facism or over-enthusiastic nationalism?

Nice to see a bit of national pride from the top for a change, something almost extinct under labour,

COE!
