Could this possibly be a record?

King aside, is it just a symptom of missing Dawson?

Who is the current weak link in the back four/five?

Gomes/Hutton/Gallas/Kaboul/Benoit

Gomes seems to have got a lot more shakey in recent games, but that might be a lack of confidence of who is playing in front of him.

Hutton justifies being selected over Corluka, but has been skinned alive a few times which has led to goals.

Gallas for me seems incredibly slow and not the player of old. We have been sold a dud and he would be the first player I would replace if Dawson came back.

Kaboul has been okay since coming into the back four, think he offers more at right back, but Bassoung had a terrible start to the season and was rightly replaced. A few comedy moments/sliced kicks but he has rode his luck.

Benoit - The teams marmite selection. Most people rate him, I actually hate him (okay hate is a bit too strong but I hate the way he plays). Flatters to deceive when going forward, seems to link well with Bale but Benoit decides far to often to hoof the ball aimlessly upfront and it leads to nothing. He gets caught stranded defensively which drags the centre backs over to cover, which causes a gap in the box and goal. However, noone seems to give him the blame and centre backs are singled out for being out of possession. For me this is a problem position because we really can't play anyone else here.

We need to sign a premiership left back in January (and a centre back!) and we really should have seen this coming in the Summer.

Wonder how draws to wins, and loses to draws would've been acheived with only a handful of clean sheets. Probably still be top 4 at this rate.

The worry is, i cannot see the situation improving until Dawson is back (or we make some signings in Jan)

Obvious puns aside, you're just ... so wrong. Sorry but when over 90% of SC thinks BAE does a very good job most of the time and is among the best LB's in the country, surely you've missed something. Yes, he's unorthodox, and yes, he occasionally messes things up, but more often than not he recovers in time to rectify his own mistakes.

We need the 2009 Charlie back at RB and Dawson back at CB, don't care who he replaces, and we'll be fine. I'm confident Charlie will find form again soon now that he seems to have recovered well enough to be on the bench. I like Hutton, he's done a good job, but I always want full-backs to be defenders first, and Hutton's defending just isn't quite good enough.

How many top class centre halves in their right mind would join a team with 6 centre halves? In case you hadn't noticed we tried to combat King and Woodgate injuries by signing Kaboul, Gallas and Bassong all in the last 18 months. You can't have cover for your cover's cover.....It's not Championship Manager.

Hutton's form has picked up defensively, and his confidence is growing. Corluka's six months of bad form doesnt warrent dropping Hutton.

Fucking hell BAE is bloody good defensively, we would never get anyone better.

Count how many times he bails the side out of trouble, rather than watching the unorthodox manner he does it in. He is constantly intercepting passes or making crunch tackles - I would say per game its probably about 3 or 4 times more than the other defenders do...

This is what happens with injuries and constant rotation of the back four, you get a shit defense, which in no uncertain terms is what we currently have, our defense is very poor at present, we badly need Dawson back to form a partnership with Gallas or Kaboul. As for King, I can't even class him as a full time player anymore though its not his fault, hes like a part time worker that fails to show up more often than he actually puts a shift in.

A thread started by someone who cannot see how good BAE is and starts off by saying they hate him will only anger me.

We are definitely missing Dawson and King. Corluka possibly, but he was not at his best before he got injured...

Hutton is getting better with every game he plays. He is getting better defensively and offensively is excellent. We need to stick with him, he brings a lot more than Corluka to the table.

Well our three first-choice central defenders - Woodgate, King and Dawson - have all been largely absent this season.

Any team would have problems if their three full England international center-halves were missing.

And back to BAE...hoof the ball upfront aimlessly? Well every defender does that once in a while. If you actually watch the game, BAE tries to do anything but this more often than not....his long distance passing is excellent also.

We are always missing King, we have been for at least 3 years! I love our King but he needs to pass the crown on and go gracefully. Dawson is our MVP of defense and its a damn shame he's out, Dawson and Gallas could be a great partnership for a few seasons.

Thanks for the objective (BAE lovin) comments lads, clearly blinded by our defenders flattering to deceive and not at all bothered by our lack of clean sheets.

Lets sign a striker eh and hope it all goes away!

Go back and look at the replay of our goals conceded and see who really is to blame.
