This isn't the whole article that was in the paper today and it misses out an important quote which the Arsenal CEO says we cannot compete with Chelsea and Manchester City financially so we need to be smarter.

And while it may be hard to admit, this is exactly the approach we need to take and it seems like we are finally taking in the recruitment of better value young hungry players that we can coach and develop. It may take time and we may need to wait to see the fruits of our labour but hopefully this new strategy at Spurs and with the new Stadium on the way will really help us as it is now starting to have helped A***nal.

Arsenal went nine years without a trophy under Wenger before winning back-to-back FA Cups, but the drought coincided with a period of financial restrictions imposed by the move to Emirates Stadium.

"It is difficult to imagine anybody else could have done it as well as Arsene," Gazidis said when asked whether Wenger was the right man to oversee the transitional period.

"Arsene has had tremendous support from the board and in return Arsene has really put the club first and made sure we progressed through that period and come out of it strongly.

"I joke that we are developing our training ground and one of the things we are doing is putting a cryo-chamber in there and if we put Arsene in there we can preserve him for a little longer.

"But he is in great shape - fit, enthusiastic, as hungry as ever and ambitious as ever, and he can see what is happening with this squad and he is very excited about the direction of travel so we aren't thinking at all about changes.

"Of course long-term you have to have the right infrastructures in place and a lot of work is going into that with Arsene's support and involvement as he knows at some point - and I hope that will be far down the road - he will step aside and someone will step into his large shoes."

Arsenal's next challenge is to win the Premier League or Champions League again, and Gazidis believes such success is in the horizon, with Petr Cech joining Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil as top-quality additions to the squad in recent seasons.

"We always have to do things better than our competitors, that is our challenge," the Gunners chief executive told Fox Sports Asia.

"But there is a real belief we can win the Premier League and compete to win major trophies in the next few years."

Do not just disagree 'Annekmca' - I would like you tell me why you think this thread

(1) Should be in Spurs Chat when it is about fucking Arsenal

And

(2) why should we praise up Arsenal on a Spurs site ?

Your observations would be greatly appreciated.

Yours in advance .. TCO.

Oh by the way, the original poster has used a double negative in the thread title.

I quite like Arsenal and have much respect for Wenger -- good on them for standing by their man for dynasty like proportions. They go about their business in the right way and play some good football. I've been Spurs since the late '70s. Seems North London is the home of football.

Should be in general football rather than Spurs Chat but apart from that the article is clearly missing some massive points.

Yes they've spent less than City & Chelsea BUT they've also spent waaaaaayyyyyy more than every club outside the top four (something like double the amount we do on wages).

If they want to go down this route then Wenger has done exactly what he should have done with the resources at hand no more and no less.

Is a fair enough article, and I'd rather we did it the Arsenal way over the City/Chelsea way all day long.

Wenger has done well for them (rivalries aside), they have continued to stay within reach, a few times were lucky not to be in CL, but always clawed themselves back into those positions.

They have a decent chance this season of challenging.

I look forward to the day Wenger retires though...
